We arrived just in time for the noon lunch crowd so it was quite busy and noisy. There's a wide variety of lunch and breakfast foods available. I had a Homestead Sandwich which was served on a ciabatta bun. It was very good. My partner had the Davey Jones tuna sandwich but found that there was too much bread. We both washed it down with the drip coffee although there's a lot of fancy coffees for those who prefer something upscale. This must have been an old bank as there's a huge safe near the washroom. Went to bring my adult kids here today and it was a neat vibe. A Smaller low key place. Order meal at the entrance and they bring it to you. I wanted the yogurt bowl but they didn't have yogurt and it was the first item on their menu! However I had the french toast with banana and choc drizzle and whip cream. It felt better as they used grainy bread. Also there was two egg Benedict's and a pulled pork bowl. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I won't say the meals are really big but just enough. Cost was $15 per meal more or less. Plus two nice looking hot chocolates. Check the pics. I liked it but didn't feel I got good value for my meal as I paid the $70 bill. We went there because I wanted to take my aunt and uncle who were visiting in Sherwood Park, out to breakfast and I wanted gluten-free choices. This place seemed to have a bistro vibe, but we found out by accident that they don't take your order at the table. The coffee is fairly strong - Colombian roast in a good size cup, but no free refills, we were told. They were a little sparing with the cream too, giving a tiny half pitcher of cream for two cups of coffee. We did get more though, when we asked. The table we reserved was a bit on the small size but we were comfortable enough. We had arrived early and our table was waiting for us. I was glad to have reserved at 10:15 am. The place was hopping and got even busier as we ate. My spouse had the scrambled eggs and bacon with potatoes and toast. It was pronounced good. The rest of us had Eggs Benedict, and they were careful to warn me the Hollandaise sauce had some gluten in it. I could have gone without, being as I have a sensitivity to gluten but I'm not celiac. I ordered the GF spinach Benny and my aunt and uncle ordered the Classics Bennys. I think they thought they were getting ham and eggs, not a ham and eggs Benny, but nonetheless they were happy with their meals and complimentary about the ham. I would definitely go back and I think it even worth the drive out to Sherwood Park (from Edmonton) for a pleasant, tasty, and well-executed breakfast. I didn't bring my phone into the restaurant so I didn't get any photos, but I liked the bathroom. It was clean and cute, though the door handle required some fussing with to unlock, rather than just turning the handle to open. The coffee here is great there's no doubt about it, the food is pretty good too. It is quite pricey - and I've usually found the wait to be a little long too. It definitely caters to more of the "hipster - coffee elitist crowd" which there's nothing wrong with that - but as a person who will nurse the same cold cup of McDonald's coffee all day that's not how I would describe myself. I am never setting foot in that place again. They were extremely rude to me. I pointed out that they had a stand filled with a local propaganda photocopied paper that is filled with lies and insults. They did not care. They said they never read it so it does not bother them. I asked if they had a paper filled with racism, would they display it. They said they did not care since they do not read it!! Honestly, a local restaurant that does not care about displaying someone's personal vendetta & who prints lies about its residents in their establishment, and who then speaks down to a customer who brings it up to their attention, does not deserve my patronage. I believe this reflects on management and staff. This is not about freedom of speech, it is about lies. People have a right to their opinions but not when they print them as fact with the intent of harming people's reputation. Was in Sherwood Park on business today and a colleague asked what I was in the mood for. I said "healthy" and we ended up at Cafe Haven! Wow it was so good! I had the Chicken Waldorf Wrap and it was really good - they had a nice variety of sandwiches, salads, wraps and soups. When I think of cafes in Edmonton (and surrounding areas) I think of stale baked goods and sloppy menus. Cafe Haven is neither of these things. In a strip mall (what isn't in this city?) located in the remains of an old bank, there are touches of comfort all over, in the chairs, lamps and other furniture. It just feels so cozy. Haven offers Transcend roasted coffee beans and latte art as well as carefully made tea lattes. And delicious sandwiches, soups, salads and even brunch. There are some baked goods, like pumpkin pie and cinnamon buns as well. They're so much more, though! Their menus change seasonally, and features local products and organic choices. There is a new brunch offering every weekend. They're even licensed and feature music and spoken word evenings. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't spin by to check this place out next time you're in Sherwood Park. I don't find myself in in the Park that often, but if I lived there, this would be my go to lunch and meeting spot. read more

I like the rustic gathered decor. It has a very unique artistic feel to the cafe. If you like the artwork on the wall, you can buy it and support a local artist. i love the concept of locally owned. The coffee I would say is alright, but I will still stop buy to support this business. I always get a muffin along with my coffee. The muffins here are homemade fabulous!!! I've also learned that there breakfast items are amazing..mmm cinnamon buns and waffles! Oh so yummy!! What I've also noticed is the girls that work here are dressed very trendy and I and i love the way they look. Friendly and adorable staff that always smile and deliver great service! Cafe Haven is one of Sherwood Parks only independent coffee places - other than Common Grounds Cafe. It was started by a young husband and wife who eventually sold it to a business owner from Edmonton. I'm afraid it just isn't quite the same under new ownership. Although it still has some Funky furniture, mismatched dishes and an interesting menu, some of the attention to detail and the spirit of the business has been lost. My order was taken by a slightly uninterested teen who told me the flavours of their smoothies was "fruity stuff kinda". my grilled sandwich showed up with cold in the centre and my fruity kinda smoothie was forgotten and made once my sandwich was at my table. Whereas once the food and business were watched over by a diligent and passionate owner, it now seems to be running on auto pilot. Although my latest experience was not great, I'm giving it three stars because it is still one of the more original places to visit and when they are on their game, it is awesome. read more

Super unique place, I love the small cafe vibes that is has. The building used to be a bank, and they have kept the vault that was inside and converted it into a sitting area, which I find to be very original and gives the place lots of character. The patio is super cute and always clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food is fantastic. Little bit pricey, but as it is a cafe, this is to be expected. I've been there a couple times for hot chocolate and their peanut butter squares. the hot chocolate is okay, nothing special. but their marshmallow peanut butter squares are amazing. their staff is kind and helpful and really make this cafe a place worth going too. I also love the fact that I can take a seat and they will bring me my order, it allows me to find a comfy place to relax. I also love the fact that when you choose to go there for a sit-down coffee, they give you a glass mug. its the environmentalist in me that likes that. Think Global, Act Local seems to be the motto of this hip cozy cafe! Be it their locally sourced theme, transcend coffees, artwork from local artists, Music nights on Thursdays... This place has all the elements of what your friendly neighborhood coffee shop should be all about! Loved the ambience and service. Came here with a friend just before lunchtime and we were warmly greeted. Our order - latte,breakfast wrap and espresso was brought out to us. It was refreshing to see clean eating options - honey, raw sugar, cucumber infused water to mention a few. They are much appreciated! I love the artwork, the lil 'vault' room in the back. Loved the latte, had to knock off one star because the espresso wasn't really my cup of tea ;) It was a bit too bitter for my taste but I will be back to try out more of their brews. They have transcend coffees for sale too. I was excited to see the music nights in the local newspaper! Cafe Haven is another one of those cafes in Edmonton that believes in local sourced ingredients. Although strangely located in a strip mall *and in Sherwood park, for those who don't have cars*, the menu they serve up is very inviting and tasty. The ambience is sort-of library-ish/reading roomish. It's really a random collection of furniture. Not expensive or jazzy looking. Just some combination that fits well. But, having said that, it feels very comfortable in there. Almost like visiting your aunt's place on the weekend. The coffee is one of the big reasons they stand out. They use Transcend coffee beans and serve masterful cups of espresso based drinks. For the true coffee connoisseur, they also serve a french press coffee which is delightfully served with a timer by its side. When the timer beeps, you've got to slowly push the plunger down, thereby extracting the holy nectar of coffee. Their brunch menu (till 2 p.m. on weekends) changes every week and their weekly menus also change regularly thus giving the true feeling of locally sourced food. I like this aspect of the café a lot because you never know what the menu is going to be. Sure, at times it feels good to go to a familiar place where you know exactly what your favorite item on the menu is. But once in a while, a place like Cafe Haven just feels great! They have live shows on Thursday evenings (which I haven't been for, but have heard good things of). Must try this local, little joint in Sherwood park. Although, I'm not a coffee-drinker (I know, I know, there's something wrong with me... two university degrees and you don't drink coffee???? FREAK!), I do enjoy my Saturday morning visits to Cafe Haven. My girlfriend deserves credit for discovering this place after we moved to Sherwood Park. Since we' discovered it, it has become a one of the places we visit most frequently. Now, since I don't drink coffee, I wont' be commenting on that. Rather I can speak, semi-authoritatively, on their pastries. First and foremost is their cinnamon buns. They are quite good, ranking 2nd on my list in the Edmonton area. They are most and flavourful, with a good dough and a fair bit of gooeyness. They are also a decent size, with one of them pretty much filling me up for a breakfast meal. As for the other tasty treats, I've sampled their date squares (quite tasty) and a few other assorted squares (rhubarb squares jump out to me as being quite tasty). I've also enjoyed a few of their sandwiches and some of their brunch items. All have been very good and have the added bonus of using many local ingredients. Even though I'm not a coffee guy, I still do enjoy warm beverages and Cafe Haven has much for those that are coffeephobic. I'm quite fond of their Chai Lattes, although I prefer it half-sweet. They also have a nice selection of loose teas. A quick comment on the decor, if I may. The shop is obviously a converted bank (as evidenced by the vault near the back), which has been decorated with a nice mix of furniture. What stands out most (and is most appealing) is the range of artwork on display. Cafe Haven appears to regularly change their artwork by featuring a new, local artist every so often. It's a nice change and the artwork, thus far, has been fantastic! In closing, this little Cafe deserves its 5-star rating, if not for some of the best cinnamon buns in Edmonton (or Sherwood Park for that matter), but for the ambiance and enjoyment so many get from this establishment! read more

I moved not far from this café and had visions of walking here in the mornings for coffee and breakfast. Unfortunately, I've been put off by a few factors: They advertise as having gluten-free menu options, but for vegetarians, these options are naturally gluten-free such as vegetables and hummus and yoghurt. That makes breakfast somewhat limited since I am a bit of a traditionalist and enjoy baked goods in the morning. I did get excited about the Huevos Rancheros, but they aren't vegetarian. The espresso is inconsistent. When it's good, it's fantastic. When it's bad, it's sour and undrinkable without adding milk. An espresso should be able to stand alone. The prices are more than I'm willing to pay for the lack of choices and that inconsistency. I paid about twelve dollars for my americano and my small plate of vegetables and hummus. Everything tasted very good, but I was disappointed to pay so much for so little. Because of the shape and layout of the café, it is very loud during busy times. A wall around the kitchen would help cut some of the noise. I give Café Haven three stars despite all this because I like the concept, the food is high quality and tasty, and I'm sure for omnivores without diet restrictions, the variety suits well--my omni husband loves the cinnamon buns and the wraps. For vegetarians who can't eat wheat and who enjoy a quality, consistent espresso, not so much. Also, the staff is great--friendly, competent. I'll keep trying every once in a while because businesses like this tend to learn and adapt, but so far Café Haven isn't my first choice café. read more

Trendy little spot... Finally got an opportunity to scratch this place off my list. Stopped in with my kids for brunch on Sunday. Not too shabby. Kids had bagels and I had to give the Eggs Benedict a shot. Decided on the salmon incarnation. Flavor was great...but something in the dish seemed to chill the entie thing down. Perhaps this was by design. I am not entirely sure. Chilled salmon on warm english muffin with cooked eggs? Regardless I wasn't expecting it and gave the whole thing a feeling of egg/sushi-fusion. The accompanying hash browns were tastey. We also indulged in a brownie and a huge chunk of my personal kryptonite..beanut butter-marshmallow square. Both were indeed good. All in all...not bad. Not amazing. The hipster feeling and missmatch of furniture including couches and armchairs is allright I suppose. All told, my main, 2 bagels, a coffee, a hot chocolate and the 2 desserts came to ~$45. A little pricey, but not terrible. I may just be back if my schedule and theirs align again. I've been here a few times now while waiting for laundry and the laundromat. Perfect place to relax for a bit and enjoy a coffee or tea. The staff is welcoming and friendly. There seems to be always a few customers around but not over crowded. The smell is amazing, they make a lot of their own food here. Any cafe you can add baileys too is a winner to me! read more

When I walked in the door, it felt like I was visiting an old friend. The décor has not changed much over the years, but the product and service seems to have changed a little. After reading through the other reviews, I now see that it has changed ownership, so that would explain it. I was craving a Nanaimo bar, but was sad when they didn't have any. I opted instead for a vanilla latte, and one of those multi colour marshmallow/butterscotch/peanut butter square things, that I've never actually known the name of. When the barista was handing me my latte, he quickly pulled it back and explained that he forgot the vanilla, and fixed that mistake. I was happy that he didn't let me walk out the door with the erroneous drink. The latte was tasty, but a little too bitter for my taste buds. The square was delicious though. Very cute place! Have had great service most of the time, some times when it is very busy the girls get a little flustered and short with you! Food is amazing and as far as I know all made in house! Have not had a bad meal ever! I am not a coffee drinker but have tried some of their specialty teas and have to say their Earl Grey Tea Latte is as beautiful as it is fantastic!! Only two down falls to this place are the sucky hours it is open and the poor amount of parking! I can name 100 times off hand I have had to just drive by due to it being closed or no parking. Big fan of Chai Lattes, and these guys did not disappoint! The Remedy Chai was very tasty, and warmed up my dreary afternoon. I also grabbed a chicken coconut wrap that was absolutely delightful. It had chicken of course, but also some roasted coconuts, bits of apple and celery, some grated carrots along with some other things. It was a very refreshing and satisfying lunch, and I was very pleased that it had no cheese as I can't do dairy. As a side note, I've always been attracted to small cafes that feature local artwork on their walls, just a very cool feel to it. The nice lady behind the counter made me a roast beef sandwich. The roast beef was appropriate for sandwich eating purposes as it would pull apart when you bit into the sandwich rather than getting pulled out of the sandwich. Cafe Haven is really impressive. Most cafe's are just coffee and lack quality in every aspect but Cafe Haven does not let you down. In addition to their great coffee, they have a good menu that offers sandwiches, salads and dessert. Some of the items don't even look like cafe food, they come across as restaurant caliber. Hadn't been to Cafe Haven for a while. A friend and I checked it out on Sunday for their brunch/lunch. My friend ordered a latte and their fruit bowl which comes with toast. It looked really good. There was tons of fresh cut fruit topped with granola and seeds. It also comes with a side of toast. I ordered a sticky chai. They call it that as they use a special honey when they make it. It was magnificent. I also had a side Caesar salad and spinach dip. Just for mine it was over $30. Everything tasted great but I do find the prices are quite high. They do have a fair bit of seating but it definitely fills up fast. There's usually always a line ordering things. After you place your order, they give you a number tag and deliver your food/drinks to you. Our food ended up coming out before our drinks. It's definitely a cute place to check out. Nice to have something different than the "usual" coffee joints. Just know that being local, you will pay that price for it! read more
