Dessert was a berry pie French onion soup was very tasty. Little too much bread for the small bowl for me. Soaked up all the broth! Could have used a little while longer in the broiler as well, cheese wasn't nearly brown enough for me. Was very good though Shrimp and grits was very good. Was far more than it looks. I was stuffed after I ate it. Shrimp cooked perfectly over creamy grits Pie was very good, was full but really wanted to try it, comes with ice cream and I ate as much as I could Service was good, drinks come from the lobby bar and were excellent Nice inside, felt like back in time vibes Overall a nice meal

This review will focus on the actual restaurant, where I had lunch with my husband and our friend. It was quiet the day we were there so we got a lot of personal attention. We started with unsweetened iced teas and then since we weren't starved, we ordered some appetizers to share. We had: -deviled eggs (good but the filling was too solid and cold...I like the yellow to be a little creamier and light); -fried cauliflower-the star of the show; it tasted almost like a sweet Korean fried chicken; -Butternut squash salad- also delicious, with nicely roasted butternut squash chunks and a really good dressing; -Pimento cheese dip- excellent dip served with toast. Pimento cheese isn't much of a thing in NYC where I live so I've been trying it every time I see it in Roanoke. We really liked everything we had and the service was so nice. The room itself is gorgeous and feels historic. I'm a fan.

I've been coming to Floyd for the past 15 years, and Dogtown used to be a staple. Unfortunately,…read moreit's gone seriously downhill. The vibe just feels off now and what once felt welcoming and authentic feels more exclusive and self-important. :( The service is especially disappointing. You can stand at the counter forever waiting for someone to even acknowledge you. Basic hospitality goes a long way, and it's frustrating when staff can't even acknowledge you with a simple "we will be with you shortly" or even offer a simple smile. There's an attitude from some of the front-of-house staff that comes across like they've "arrived" and are above basic customer service. Floyd has always been about community and authenticity, and it's disappointing to see a place that once embodied that lose sight of what made it special.

BEWARE DOG OWNERS AND SERVICE DOG HANDLERS…read more When we arrived at Dogtown Roadhouse in Floyd, VA, my husband brought his federally protected service dog. Upon arrival, the hostess informed us that service dogs were not allowed inside the restaurant and directed us to sit on the outdoor porch instead. As soon as we reached the porch area, two unleashed dogs--a German Shepherd and a blond pit bull mix--charged at my husband and his Golden Retriever service dog. During the attack, my husband was bitten on the hand, and the service dog was bitten on the neck and pinned to the ground. The hostess stated that she witnessed the entire incident. We immediately notified the manager, James, and contacted law enforcement to file a police report. The owner of the attacking dogs left the property within minutes of the attack. What was equally disturbing was the response from management. When we brought the attack, the injuries, and our concerns to the manager's attention, we felt the situation was largely dismissed rather than addressed with the seriousness it deserved. The response we received gave us the impression that the attack and its consequences were not considered the restaurant's responsibility. Afterward, we asked management why unleashed dogs were permitted in a public dining area. We were told that the dogs belonged to "good people" and that the restaurant does not enforce leash requirements for customers' dogs. What is particularly concerning is that the restaurant's website states: "Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join you at outdoor tables on the covered porch while you enjoy your meal." Additionally, we will be filing a complaint regarding the restaurant's refusal to accommodate a service dog indoors, as service animals are protected under federal law. This was an extremely upsetting and preventable situation. We are disappointed by how the matter was handled and by the apparent lack of enforcement of the restaurant's own stated leash policy. Based on our experience, we will never return and would strongly encourage dog owners and service dog handlers to use caution when visiting this establishment.

There is nothing more American than a good hamburger and hot dog, served with in-house made potato…read morechips and a Coke or a beer by friendly and welcoming, young ladies, who make you feel at home from the moment you walk in the door. And that is precisely what I discovered when I visited Top Dawgs Pub & Deli for the very first time this late afternoon for a late lunch and early dinner. This casual family-owned and operated American restaurant for over 12 years is located in the Roanoke/Botetourt County area and is known for its pub fare like hot dogs, burgers, and wings, with a large selection of craft beers and Coke products. When I arrived, I immediately noticed this family-oriented restaurant's community-focus. There were signs up of Family Meal Box, Taco Tuesday Family Pack, Karaoke Every Other Saturday, and Sunday Funday. There were couples, young and older dining there, as well as families. It's dog-themed decor was very unique, with dogs pictures all around the walls. It had seating areas with high tables and chairs, low tables and chairs, and chairs at the bar counter. The large screen high definition TVs were set at an appropriate distance so one could conveniently watch a game while dining there and having some beers. As soon as I entered, a young lady in the back asked me to seat at the table of my choice, and then she came down to bring me a menu and take my drink order. Even though they had an extensive selection of beers, since I was driving, I opted for an iced-cold Coke. To dine I started out with a Bam Bam Shrimp appetizer. The shrimps weren't Jumbo as described in the menu, but tasted delicious with the bam bam sauce. And to dine I ordered a Cowboy Burger that came with in-house made potato chips that were out-of-this-world and a Cheezy Dawg. The burger came in a fresh, soft bun and the patty was juicy and cooked to perfection, although the bacon inside was not crispy and I couldn't see the onion ring inside, it tasted good with the cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce. The home-cut potato chips were just amazing. Best I've ever had. And the hot dog was an all beef quarter pound jumbo hot dog, split in the center and had chili, cheese, onions, and mustard, also in a fresh hot dog bun, and I added some ketchup as well. My server Tammie made sure to refill my drink without me having to mention it to her. For dessert I had their Fried Oreo Cookies and they tasted amazingly delicious. The best I've ever had. They were about 5 or 6 fresh Oreo cookies dipped in a light batter and fried mildly, then sprinkled with sweet powder sugar. They were so good and I was so full that I took 3 of them home with me to have as a snack later on. To pay, my server brought me a convenient little machine, where I paid with one of my credit cards, including my tip, Overall it was an extraordinary, relaxing dining experience and I highly recommend this restaurant when you want to have a truly enjoyable American meal.
