I was at 4th Ave Food Park and decided to try Satch Squared. They have Detroit style pizza and waffles. It was still morning time, so I decided to get the breakfast pizza. This comes with eggs, cheese, sauce or syrup, and protein. I got eggs, cheddar, tomato sauce and tempeh. The cost was about $14. For the portion size and taste, I think this was too much. I wish the sauce had a bit more flavor, as well as the tempeh. If I ever decided to get a breakfast pizza again, I think I'll try it with syrup instead. read more

Great pizza and location. They only have outdoor seating at 4th Ave Food Park, which is especially nice when the weather gets cooler. I ordered a pizza with red peppers, mushrooms, and sausage. My friend ordered one with pineapples, onions, and garlic. I usually go for pizzas with a thinner crust, but Satch Squared exceeded my expectations with their Detroit-style pizza. They have a wide range of options for toppings, which is nice. I wasn't a big fan of the price, but the portion size was large for me, and I was able to split it into 2 meals. read more

This was a cool recommendation from my friend's Mom who is the best cook in that family. It wasn't until after we did our custom pizza I saw they have a menu of specialty pizzas, so next time I want to try the Buffalo chicken pizza. Super chill spot, great quality, friendly staff. A beautiful addition to Gainesville that provides that Detroit style pizza itch that you've been craving for. The pizza had a great structure to it where it could hold all the sauce without being soggy and floppy! The very thin but confident waffle was a pleasant change compared to normal diner waffles. We love going to Satchel's for pizza whenever we visit Gainesville, so when our kids suggested Satch Squared for brunch, we were all in. We shared a breakfast pizza that had scrambled eggs on top of the crust and we added onions, mushrooms, and vegetarian sausage. It was plenty of food for both of us. Our kids got a Motor City which had double pepperoni and hit honey. We sat outside and enjoyed the art and live music. read more

The pizza here is good, but I've had mixed experiences where sometimes the pizza didn't have a lot of flavor. The ordering process is easy, employees are usually nice, and I recommend trying one of their special menu pizza options. Eating outside at 4th Ave when the weather is good cannot be beat! read more

I found this place from a friend! The atmosphere outside is so cool!!! I love the weird decorations and the bus you can sit in outside. The food is a little pricey...for pizza But it tasted yummy! They offer gluten free, which was a must for my friend. The service was not great...Just some teenagers not very happy about being there. Typical. Overall I will come back and bring some friends for the ambiance! I want to try the waffles they have next. read more

We stumbled upon this cute little restaurant on our way home from blue grotto. There is an awesome outside area where you can eat and there are other restaurants to chose from in the area. The pizza was really good..thicker then I am used to but very good. If you are not super hungry you can share with someone as it is super filling. I like that there are so many topping to chose from. O yeah. I grew up on Detroit style and the pizza is excellent. There is a great selection of toppings and everything is fresh. Don't miss getting pizza here. I read that S2 did a lot of research on their version of Detroit pizza. They certainly did their homework and have produced a fantastic product. The young man who took our order was fantastic. Energetic, enthusiastic, and knew the menu perfectly. He was quick with good suggestions and tips. The restaurant is located in a newer food court in an area of town that is going through revitalization. There is a really nice outdoor area to dine with plenty of room to stretch out. We heard those many great things about it! We just had to try it! Detroit style pizza when we are from the city of Detroit! Satchels is already good so when we tried Satch Squared we knew we were in for a treat! I must admit, my husband when he brought home the box-we we're expecting a bigger box but you know what we had 2 slices a piece and it was BEYOND PERFECT!!! Literally best pizza I've ever had. I typically don't like deep dish or super thick crust, but the ratio of dough to sauce and cheese is actually perfect. It's thick, crispy, and chewy. Get pepperoni, ricotta, and HOT HONEY. I never rave about pizza the way I do about satch squared read more

Love this place! Every time I've gone, I've had an enjoyable experience. Satch Squared is now my only go-to for all pizza cravings. Their service is fast and reliable, and the pizzas taste high quality. Satch Squared is located in the SW 4th Ave Food Park. All seating is outdoors and no matter how busy the food park gets, I usually am able to find a table. The food is ready within 15-20 min--sometimes faster. They also have a small selection of their Satchel's merchandise inside the building as well as their well-known homemade sodas. The pizzas and waffles taste great! The waffles are inexpensive and come out fluffy yet crispy. The pizzas are deep dish with the tomato sauce on top. The dough is my favorite part--it's soft and pillowy and almost seems slightly undercooked in a good way. $11 (plus $1 for each additional topping) for a simple square pizza may seem expensive but the taste and quality is definitely worth it. Plus, I'm able to split half a pie with another person or save the rest for later! read more

As a Detroit native, I was elated to see that a Detroit style pizza place made it's way down to Florida. My husband and I decided to take a day trip to Gainesville to check this place out and weren't disappointed. Now, for those of you who know Detroit pizza and have eaten at places like Buddy's you can't go into this experience expecting it to be Buddy's Pizza (I mean, they have their own delicious proprietary sauce that can't be beat). This is, however, really great Detroit style pizza and Satch Squared really nailed my favorite part of Detroit pizza, the crispy crust! This place probably has the BEST pizza in Gainesville. Detroit-style pizza is the way to go. The edges of the pizza are always a perfect crisp, and the dough is just so fluffy to bite into. The ratio of dough and sauce is, in my opinion, perfect! It's $1 per topping but for the quality of the pizza, it's worth it. I also absolutely love the waffles. They're large and fluffy, and when you eat it with butter and syrup, it's so savory and sweet. I normally don't like eating pizza anymore, but this is the only place that I'd be willing to buy from. It also has the same atmosphere as the first location, Satchel's Pizza. Loyal customers to Satchel's Pizza will definitely love this place. Plus, the front flap of the pizza box says "I Love You". So delicious!! I was initially wary about spending $11 on a plain cheese personal pizza (+1$ per topping) but the taste, texture, and overall experience made it worth it! I split a pizza with my boyfriend (mistakes were made.... I should have gotten my own..) and we added pepperoni and pineapples to it. I love the crispy edges of the sides & the pizza sauce was on top (instead of between the dough and cheese). They have picnic tables where you can eat outside if you can't wait to get home and devour the pizza. Definitely worth trying! read more

We've been hearing so many good things about Satch Squared and today we were finally able to try it! This is a second location with a twist of Satchel's Pizza on 23rd Ave, and the food is just as good! It's Detroit style so the sauce is on top. We were both impressed by the simplicity of the inside. There's no seating inside, but Satchel (the owner) was building some benches with tabletops so there will be seating outside! Masks are currently required by county ordinance. We called ahead and our pizza was done within about 20 minutes! Both of us loved our pizzas. I've not had a lot of gluten free/dairy free pizza, but I looooovved this one. The "cheese" is almost like a nacho cheddar cheese and the deep dish is thick and amazing. We felt the toppings were distributed fairly. My fiancé also enjoyed his pizza! Worth the price. Something of note here is that Satch Squared does take card! So no worries about needing cash like at their other location. This is a great addition to 4th Avenue Food Park in Gainesville, and I'm excited to see the whole area grow! read more

Coming from nyc to visit Gainesville since I was raised here and I decided to choose this place to meet with old buddies and I must say it was best decision ever. As pizza lover, there is thousands pizzeria place in nyc so I know what is best.... I must say this is best pizza place here in Gainesville. Y'all ditch other pizzeria place in Gainesville and come here. Their pizza is best and they do have a lot of interesting things to look at even buy. Their outdoor is soooo down earth and relax to eat out with your friends families. You can even bring ur furry babies to hang out as well. Will be back. First time going to Satch^2 and will 100% go back. We ordered the breakfast pizza with bacon and hot sauce for $13 but honestly would have paid $20 for it.. it was that good! Took a little for it to get out to us but can't complain too much because it was cooked to perfection. We were traveling through Florida on our way to the keys and were camping near Gainesville for the night. We have a tradition of pizza on Fridays, so we were looking for some good gluten-free pizza, as I have Celiac's disease. Satch Squared has DEEP DISH gluten-free pizza! That is pretty rare, from my experience, so this was a real treat! My wife and I shared a Detroit-style deep dish pizza with sausage, onions and hot honey. It was so delicious and I would highly recommend this pizza place for anyone else needing to avoid gluten. A little bit off the highway, but definitely worth the extra travel! read more

We have been going to the original satchels for over a decade and a while back. I heard they opened up a second location and just stumbled upon it on accident while up in Gainesville with my wife and baby girl as usual we were not disappointed. We ordered a deep dish, tomato sauce, basil, mozzarella and pesto pizza and it was absolutely fire. Cute restaurant in the middle of the 4th Ave Food Park. We ordered from their online app and were able to pick it up within half an hour. We did the custom square pizza with artichoke hearts, sausage, tomato, onion, red pepper, and spinach. The pizza was hot and fresh and so we decided to just take a few bites at their picnic tables before driving back home. Of course, it ended up that we consumed nearly the entire thing. My husband loved the pizza. It's pan-type pizza so the dough is a little thicker. I thought it was pretty good too, though slightly on the oily side. read more

This is a very popular, iconic eatery in the area and gets busy. The atmosphere and ambiance is quite unique and like nothing I'd ever seen before. A very eclectic scene, the indoor and outdoor area is full of artwork, plants, and even stuff like old planes, buses, etc. There is truly nothing like it elsewhere! They offer both sit down and takeout options. You can opt for takeout and find seating in the takeout area or you can receive dine-in services. I recently dined here during move in--it was EXTREMELY busy and I would recommend going during times where mass amounts of students and their families aren't in town. We ended up putting our names down on the sit-down list and were told to expect up to a 1.5hr wait for the three of us. Although I ended up receiving a text about 50min later that our table was ready. The service was just ok. They were clearly swamped, but I was expecting them to handle this a little better considering they are used to this. We ended up being seated outside and ordered immediately. To start, we got the Satch Salad with ham and for our pizza we ordered the large 18" pie with pepperoni, ricotta, and basil. The Satch salad is highly regarded featuring red and green leaf lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, apples, a hint of finely diced red onion, Romano cheese, freshly diced tomatoes, a sprinkle of almonds, sunflower seeds, and pecan pieces, tossed in a secret house vinaigrette. The small salad, which feeds up to four, was quite large and the perfect size for the three of us. The salad had ample amounts of toppings, but it honestly was just ok. The dressing didn't have a prominent flavor, which was disappointing because so many people rave about it. We received our pizza at least an hour later. The wait was very, very long and honestly too long for what we received. The pie was large, with plenty of pepperoni and ricotta, but it just wasn't very balanced. It was so heavy, with so much sauce you couldn't even pick it up and eat it by the slice (had to use a fork and knife). Now I will say the sauce had great flavor, but there was way too much of it. It was also hard to taste the elements of the pie due to it being served straight from the oven and being extremely hot. The "buttery crust" many people mention wasn't very buttery and was just like average pizza crust. Not to mention, the pizza was burnt on the bottom and clearly overcooked. I was really surprised at how mediocre this pizza was after hearing so many fabulous things about it. Nothing was comped for our long wait either--which wasn't expected because everyone was waiting this long for their food too. Overall, Satchel's didn't blow my mind and fell very flat to me. The atmosphere is certainly memorable and very unique. I appreciated the fun, hippy-like vibe with all the various nick-nacks, but the food wasn't my favorite. The salad was just ok and the infamous dressing didn't have much flavor. The wait for the pizza was insane, especially considering the execution of it. I understand part of my not-so-great experience is due to the time in which we decided to dine here. I would definitely like to return to get a better judgement of the food and service. I must say, their pizzas are quite impressive! As a fan of deep dish pizzas that lean more towards bread than cheese, this place was perfect for me.
