Dr.Srivastava seems to have been more concern in performing an amputation instead of actually healing a wound .I left his office n got a second opinion from another doctor and thank God, i did .We Went to DC to a dr a friend recomended n he was able to save my mothers toe . I was in such disbelieve tht Dr Srivastava would be that quick to cut off someones toe without any further test as biopsy n xray . Dr.Srivastava was sending her home without any instructions how to care for her wound and did not even snip the dead skin off ( wich he had to do in order to begin the healing process) He told us withing two weeks to make an appointment for the toe amputation . His diagnosis seemed so vague that it did not sit well with me , i knew right away i needed a second opinion.Im glad i went with my mom n saved her from this Im happy to say She is now 100% with all her 10 toes. It is very concerning how quick someone can cut a limb without any xrays or biopsy . Writing this review to pls always get a second opinion . I hate to even think how many people may have had unecessary surgeries , this practice will never see us again. read more

I've never had a shorter physician visit! I spent longer in the waiting room. The doctor knew exactly what my insurance did NOT cover and displayed no desire to treat me since the expensive orthotics he insisted I would need were not covered. He was pleasant, but distant, and his only option was custom designed orthotics. After x-rays and a second visit, he still had no explanation for the foot pain I was having. Thankfully, I took my x-rays and symptoms to get a second opinion by another specialist who recommended that I wear a certain type of shoe while indoors -- to cushion my feet and stabilize my ankles -- and this helped significantly...without custom orthotics. I found regular inserts for my shoes. And now I can wear regular shoes again. If, like me ( a- you hate pain, and b- you want to be an intelligent partner in your healthcare; knowing why, & what you can do to prevent further damage, & get well) You may want to search out another, more caring specialist. It will save you the frustration. read more

I was in the hospital recovering from heart surgery and I was having foot pain from ingrown toe nails. I asked if there was foot Doctor in the hospital and was told not for a few days. The pain was getting worse and my nurse saw Dr. Srivastava visiting another patent. she asked if he would see me and he did. He worked on my toenail and relieved my pain. I was impressed with how careful he was and how concerned he was not only about my feet but my other health issues. He is now my podiatrist and I see him once a month for other foot problems. he is close to my PCP office and a couple of times I have just popped in to see if he could see me and he always made time to see me. I have a long list of doctors I see every month and Dr. Srivastava is at the top of the list Doctors I enjoy visiting. read more

I recommend you find a different podiatrist. I went to Dr. Srivastava for heel pain. The expensive orthotics he ordered did not help. When we discussed this subsequently, his only additional recommendation was that I lose weight. I've been the same weight for 20 years, but the heel pain only happened recently, so, even though I should lose weight, I was disappointed by that recommendation. I subsequently went to another podiatrist who added a metatarsal pad to the orthotics I had and the pain went away. The second podiatrist told me that the orthotics could have been adjusted. I was disappointed that Srivastava did not suggest this. Overall, I was surprised at how much more helpful the second podiatrist was. (Dr. Postal in Silver Spring) What made matters worse (and what prompted me to write this review now, some months later) is that the billing department just sent me a bill for service that was rendered last year. Now it is past the time when I could pay for last year's expenses using my HRA account. I paid what my insurance company said was my responsibility, but they are trying to bill me for more. So their billing department seems poorly run too. So, overall, I think you'd be better off finding a different doctor. read more

I did quite a bit of comparative research before coming across Dr.Srivastava, and it was important that I do so because of the misdiagnosed developments of my foot wound et al which had a 6x3 flap hanging off of it. This wound had progressed from a 1-1/2" to 2" cut to a full-on puss filled mass in just over the weekend. Monday I arrive at the emergency room and was tested and admitted to the hospital, where the staff was all over it excluding the hospitalist and her floor doctors, they just quite didn't get it at all or had seen it once to many times before. I was there a little over a week and saw the podiatrist twice once to exam and debride the wound and a second time where he literally looked at it from yard away and pronounced it was doing well. I should have known this is where they had no more interest in getting it right.....This is when and where it all starts to go wrong! 1. They ran some more test for discharge, rushed me toward the shower with my foot wrapped in a garbage bag, hastily typed up a incomplete and truly uninformative set of discharge papers and whisked me off after night fall to a nursing and rehab center. 2. The bottom line as per the discharge summary were to administer these medications, run this IV protocol and change wound dressing daily. they missed or left out the rest... . 3. After laying in rehab for a little more than 3 weeks and casually asking how things are looking down their since I did not have a great view even with a mirror, the answers all feel a little off. My gut kicks in and I do serious research and with help of this quick witted department secretary who also noticed that I had not been seen by the wound care team or a podiatrist. So we quickly worked together me searching online, her making screening calls for me and I vett down to a board certified surgeon with a practice based on sound diabetic care as well as "Limb Salvage" etc and, so I selected Dr. Srivastava. Next we make an emergency appointment with Dr.Srivastava office, the department secretary pushes thru a stack paperwork which, arranges for medical transport and there I was in his office the next day. Now even tho I had to be fitted into his schedule my wait in the lobby was 10-15 minutes and my wait in the exam room was quite a bit less. 4. He gives me an extensive exam, all the while asking questions and setting out some instruments and begins to debride my wound even i knew from the flow and smell something was very wrong and somebody had missed something. 5. I return to the nursing center with his instructions to see me in a week and for the nurses not to change the new dressing. 6. At my second Appointment with Dr.Srivastava all the possibilities and outcomes that had explained on my first visit where being discussed again as he is giving me any even closer exam. 7. Then he says "can I send you to the emergency room, I am going to need to admit you to the hospital to aggressively work on your foot? My immediate answer was "YES". Now my thoughts go back to all my painstaking and original research looking for a excellent podiatrist as well as a experienced, skilled and thoughtful surgeon. So being a BRITTLE DIABETIC what was a precautionary thought was now a certain reality... Dr.Srivastava was the one if not only doctor that promoted "LIMB SALVAGE" AND SO HE DID! 8. The first hospital sent me inappropriately documented and unstable to a nursing facility for rehab. the nursing facility failed to perform their due diligence even tho I had been in residence for over 3 weeks I was never examined by a podiatrist and they have a wound team that performs rounds every Tuesday, I was not seen by them either. 9. We have been able to save the foot at this point, however the small toe was beyond saving due to the advanced bone and blood infection that was their all the time. A highly regarded hospital and doctor after doctor and specialist after specialist, all lost in the fog of their own arrogance missed it, or is it they just don't give a damn... 10. Well... Dr.Shashank Srivastava is more than a caring doctor he is a skilled and intelligent healer who works with a patient no matter how hard it is or how long it takes. If you are willing he is able, and I know that through my own experience from the post surgical care at the nursing center, they botched up his great surgery results by the improper wound vac applications etc. Dr. Srivastava intervened with critical treatment adjustments and worked with the nursing administration to bring about cooperation and change. He performed some "above and beyond tasks" as well. From his delicate removal of another partially infected toe bone and leaving the toe it's self fully intact, fighting for some much needed and additional hyperbaric treatments on my behalf and now, his collaborative monitoring of new and ultra aggressive wound care protocol to bring closure to a chronic wound of over nine month's ...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! read more

I recently had an in-grown toe nail that was very painful. I had never been to Dr.Srivastava before. When I went into his office his staff was friendly and welcoming. When I met Dr. Srivastava he was very kind and preformed the procedure in under 20 mins. When I used a different doctor for the same procedure it took over 45 mins. With Dr. Srivastava there was no pain until after the procedure was over, which is normal for getting an in-grown toenail removed. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Srivastava to my friends and family if they needed to get their in-grown toe nails removed with comfort and ease. read more

This was my first time at office. The front office staff was very pleasant. The office was bright and clean. The wait was brief. The doctor was awesome. He is a good listener. After explaining what my aches and pains were he sprung into action. After examining my foot he identified the problem and put in motion a resolution. I am very pleased with the outcome.
