I am writing this review based on a serious breakdown in care and professionalism. Dr. Deming treated me for a foot condition that later developed clear signs of infection, including increasing redness. My concerns about the affected area were not addressed. That same morning, after seeking outside guidance online, I was advised to go to the emergency room due to the risk of infection. I contacted Dr. Deming and was seen that morning, after which I was admitted to Suburban Hospital. At the hospital, the area that had previously been ignored was confirmed to be infected, and I ultimately required surgery that included the removal of bone. I then requested care from a different podiatrist. After I informed the nurse practitioner that I was withdrawing consent for further treatment from Dr. Deming, he later entered my hospital room unannounced, closed the door, and raised his voice, asking, "Am I fired?" I told him I did not want to discuss the matter. Despite this, he proceeded to give unsolicited medical advice about my foot, even though I had withdrawn consent. He ended the interaction by saying "good luck" in a derogatory tone and left visibly angry. I found this interaction distressing and inappropriate, particularly given the medical circumstances. Referred to look at callouses between toes. Dr did not feel there was anything more than cream and soaking but then offered to clip my nails and trim a little of the callouses. Really appreciated the added attention, until I saw my bill and had to pay $108 for the nail cutting and $180 for the trimming, both of which took him 10 minutes combined. Showed up with what is clearly nail fungus on my right toenail. He said more testing needed to be done to confirm this, and took a large sample of my nail for testing and told me to stop taking oral medication. No communication from the office for a month, finally called and was told the nail sample showed no fungus. However, the fungus came back and my nail got totally destroyed. Really unhappy with this practice as I effectively am starting from scratch all over again with treatment. read more

Long story short. Extreme pain and swelling in my left foot. Saw dr in September of 2018. Did a cursory check and said needed MRI. Came back in February for follow up (had surgery on shoulder between) Dr was kind enough to call with MRI results which were NOTHING. Told me to come back so we could discuss further. At this point I was instructed by assistant to remove shoes/socks. Dr came in I expressed the extreme pain I was still having. His professional opinion was to let him make orthotics . When I asked about the pain going away he said never fully. When I interrupted his shoe talk and asked him to look at how swollen leg foot vs right he simply said...'it's not that much bigger'. (See pic) Mind you both times I saw him I was hobbling in pain, and aside from basic foot reactions he never touched my feet. not comfortable with his way of thinking I left not knowing what to do. FAST FORWARD 1 month eating lunch with thriving pain, found a highly patient rated foot doctor on Google just 5 minutes from work. Saw doctor who took further xrays (many) while being developed he examined extensively the foot in question-yes with his hands! Finding exactly where pain was coming from. X-rays showed Charcot foot with fractures and missing bone throughout. The main reason was the blood that had swollen my foot and nowhere to go. Excellent results after Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment, hoping to be on the road to recovery. I went to Dr. Deming after desperately seeking a treatment for chronic Achilles tendonosis/tendonitis for over 10 years. The typical conservative treatments (rest, ice , NSAID, and PT) did not work for me, in fact, my condition got worse after PT. I had constant pain and swelling behind my ankle and even walking for long periods was difficult. I received different opinions on possible treatments. A well-known orthopedic recommended the Topaz procedure and ankle ligament tightening procedure. Other orthopedics recommended doing absolutely nothing. After 5 months, my Achilles' tendon had not improved, which lead me to I start researching alternatives. I heard of PRP treatments as possible alternative. I found Dr. Deming from his very informative website regarding PRP. Dr. Deming performed the PRP procedure and I could not believe the results. Two weeks after the procedure, I no longer felt pain at the insertion site, even when I pressed on the area. Several weeks after the procedure, the notable swelling in this area was not only reduced, it was completing gone. To my surprise, a bump that existed behind the Achilles due to years of micro tears and injury at the insertion site had disappeared. Then, Dr. Deming fitted me with custom orthotics and he instructed me on how to use them. I am taking things slow post-PRP. I am slowing using the orthotics for longer periods each day. I returned to limited exercise in the pool, performing mat yoga (no use of legs) and I will gradually move to strengthening exercises. Thus far my results have been good. Run! Steer clear of this podiatrist, Dr. Ira Deming in Rockville, MD! He tried to pressure me into unnecessary and invasive surgery for a minor issue. I went to his office for an orthotic and asked about a cyst. He recommended surgery and made comments that caused me to doubt his diagnosis. I had to see him a few times more to get my orthotic and each time he saw me, he tried to pressure me into getting surgery, telling me that if I didn't, I could suffer complications resulting in him having to amputate a part of my food. With surgery he said I would be fine, but would be off my feet completely for two weeks. I got a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon who treated my condition in his office and said if it returned I could have outpatient surgery where he would cauterize the site and I would be able to walk out of the surgery with a special boot for a few days. Quite a different diagnosis! Dr. Deming recently relocated his business to a place according to him with "cheaper rent." He no longer has his medical assistant or receptionist. His replacement receptionist Amy, his wife, is learning the business as best as she can. But Dr. Deming doesn't communicate information and consequently the office doesn't run well. Once they have your money for podiatry orders, it is up to the patient to follow up because they don't. It takes very long to get ordered items. There are many other ethical and responsible podiatrists in the area. Go see them and save yourself and feet from unnecessary and invasive surgery. read more

He is an honest, compassionate, competent and knowledgeable doctor who takes the time to assess, treat and follow up with his patients. He always fits us in especially during emergencies and once we arrive at the office, we are promptly seen. I used Cigna's HSA bill pay service provided by JPMorgan Chase to pay my bill. His office claimed I never paid and kept sending me bills. When I got the confirmation from Chase that the check was deposited in Ira's account he still didn't believe me, so I had to pay $10 to get a copy of the check from Chase. How can you trust someone who is so unorganized and not capable of handling the situation in a responsible manner? read more
