Ridiculously shady towing company. Wrecked my Mercedes, and cops arranged for them to tow to baron…read morelot in the middle of Hickville, USA. Two days later went to their impound lot to retrieve personal belongings from my car only to find they left vehicle out in the open, hood partially exposed from the accident, and it had been pouring out. Could not get Geico adjuster to respond, meanwhile car was being exposed to more rain, potential rust and water damage. Told them I'll be having the car towed to a friend's shop where it could be properly stored and worked on. Owner uttered something to the effect of "or" I could just leave it with them to work on/repair, clearly upset that I was not letting him work on the car. After gathering my belongings, I tried to go back to their office to pay them for towing and storage, so I could have the car immediately re-towed, but found the main entrance door was locked. This was around 12:20 pm, even though their hours of operation note they were opened Saturdays until 1:00 pm. Called them five times during those 40 minutes, with all calls going straight to voicemail. Left them a voicemail letting them know my intention of squaring away the tab, so that I could have the car towed later that same day, since they are closed on Sundays. Drove my car to main entrance of their lot for ease of having it towed. Left them a second voicemail letting them know I'm taking the vehicle back, and gave them contact info so they could contact me whenever to pay for the tab. No response. Arranged to have a second towing company come tow the vehicle. Second tow company arrives two hours later to tow vehicle. Owner shows up and decides to block in my vehicle using his pickup truck, so that it cannot be towed. He gets out of the pickup and starts cursing at me, calls me a jerk off, among other stuff. One of his goons shows up and starts yelling at me and the arranged second tow guy. I tell the owner and the goon to check the voicemails I left earlier. Owner refuses to listen, while dropping major f bombs, and telling us to follow him to the main office to settle the tab. In the main office, he continues cursing and calling me a jerk off. His goon, if I had to guess likely a high school dropout, crudely assembles a few words to hurl additional insults at me, referring to me as an effing a-hole, presumably aimed at provoking me to respond in kind. I ignore the goon, and politely tell the owner to just settle the tab. He does. Bill comes to $297 and change in cash. I asked the second tow guy to spot. He does. I asked owner for a receipt, he says will send later. He asks for me to provide name, address and an email address. I give him a relative's address, since I don't want him to know where I live. After settling tab, I want to ensure there's no bad blood between us, so I let him listen to the two voicemails I left him earlier, where I expressed my intention of towing the car, and paying for the tab. He claims he did not get any missed calls or voicemails from me. He has nothing to say. We shook hands and I departed. Five days later, he continues to ignore my request for an invoice, and Geico now refuses to reimburse me the tow fee without an invoice, so it appears I'm out $300.

I brought my car in just to get a quote. The car had recently been at a dealership and they gave me…read morea printout of the repairs that were recommended, mainly rear brakes and a front control arm. I explained this when I arrived and asked if they could give me an estimate. They looked at the car for maybe five minutes and then quoted me $1,600 for the job. They also asked for an $800 deposit upfront. I thought that was a pretty large deposit, but since I planned on getting the work done there, I paid it and scheduled the repair for later in the week. The next day I heard some negative things about the shop and it made me uncomfortable moving forward. I called the owner, Mo, and asked if I could cancel the appointment and get my $800 deposit back. Right away he became defensive and told me I couldn't cancel and that the deposit was non-refundable. After going back and forth for a bit he hung up on me. When I called back, he said he would give me $600 back instead of the full $800 and that I would have to come to the shop to pick it up in cash. I went there in person to try to talk things through and ask why I couldn't get the full amount back, especially since no work had been done on my car. Instead of explaining, he started yelling and said that by canceling I was taking money out of his pocket. I stayed calm and just repeated that I was asking for my deposit back since no services were performed. He eventually told me to leave and continued saying they don't give refunds. So in the end, no work was done on my vehicle and they are still keeping my $800 deposit. The way this situation was handled felt extremely unprofessional and frustrating. At this point I may have to consider small claims court to try to recover my deposit. I'm sharing my experience so others can be aware before deciding to bring their vehicle here. After this happened I also went back and looked through the previous 5-star reviews on this page. Many of them seemed very generic and were all posted within about a two-week period, which made them seem questionable to me. I would encourage people to read through all the reviews carefully before choosing this shop.

I asked my mechanic who thought it was a dealership issue. Before I went to the dealership I decided to call a body shop to see if they could do this repair. I called Lentz Auto Body in Belford. I was told to bring it in 2 days hence. I dropped it off AT 8:30AM explained the issue and left. Lentz called back at about 11:30 -12:00 and reported that it was fixed. They actually said it was working fine after they removed the interior panel and sprayed the electronics with lubricant/silicone/whatever. NO CHARGE!!! A dealer would charge you $200.00 just to look at the car! I brought it to LENTZ Auto Body based on the reviews which are pretty positive. I am adding this review as another pro LENTZ Auto Body!
