That's because the Pabst brewery closed over 30 years ago and moved to San Antonio. This is where Pabst started and the tour was my favorite of the 3. You can buy your ticket (adult $14) at the coffee shop on the corner and that's where the tour starts. My tour was on a Tuesday and is called the Tall Boy Tour. That's because they give you a 16 oz can of your beer of choice to start. I picked a PBR Light and then we watched a short movie about Pabst. Our tour guide was excellent. I can't remember if his name was Joe or Pat (had long black hair with a beard) but he was very knowledgeable, used humor and made the tour interesting and enjoyable. We went through several old buildings listening to the interesting story of the company (that started in 1844) and the Best family that started it and Capt. Pabst that it was ultimately named after. The tour ends in the nice gift shop. I recommend this tour!

She also did a fantastic job accommodating everyone in our group and making sure everyone felt included. The mansion itself was absolutely stunning, and it was fascinating to learn about the Pabst family, their lives, and the history of Milwaukee. Karen brought the history to life with her stories and expertise, making the tour feel engaging rather than simply a walk through a historic home. She really immersed us in the vision Wright had for these houses. We were lucky and got to tour the house that they just acquired and will be restoring soon. It isn't officially part of the standard tour just yet, but we happened to be before a special private tour so they let us check it out too. I would recommend this to anyone who is even mildly interested. The gift shop closes at 3, so be sure to grab any goodies before the tour if you are taking the 2pm.

Another iconic sight to see in Milwaukee is the Allen Bradley clock. It's considered the largest 4 sided clock in the western hemisphere by Guinness book of world records. A great landmark for Walker's point. It accurate let's the employees know they are running late or early. It's also used as a navigational aid to boaters of Lake Michigan. It's dedication was Oct 31, 1962. I'm sure they will celebrate it's 50th birthday this year, I guess. I could have scampered in from the street. They don't let people just wander on in, you may have to do a drive by check in. BTW. Rockwell automation purchased the name and is a leader in automation systems, sensors and programming. I'm sure we all know someone that works @ the worlds headquarters in Milwaukee. Come on Milwaukee Yelpers this should be Slightly more popular than an old water tower on St. Mary Hill or Bronze Fonze, Henry Winkler? (I'm ready to catch Hell for that.)

Rain or shine, good weather or inclement, I would recommend Gothic Milwaukee tours to anyone and everyone. Anna's love for history and Milwaukee, shine through her as she regales her followers with stories of fame and fortune, ballrooms and back allies. She. Is. A. HOOT!! I got goosebumps more than a few times, listening to her tell stories about what has happened behind Milwaukee's beautiful facade. All said and done it's about 90 minutes, and approximately 3 miles of walking. The terrain is easy, it's all on city sidewalks. First and foremost, the tour guide Anna is phenomenal. Who knows if the stories are true (although doing some quick google research, all the stories seem to pan out!) She is very friendly, a great story teller, and really...really funny. The walking was light, with plenty of stops along the tour. Great stories about people you've heard about in Milwaukee, and some you haven't. The stories about the Pfister Hotel were really really interesting.
