I had a custom and out of the ordinary situation where I needed my van towed to a mechanic that didn't have much room for most tow trucks PLUS my front wheel (drive) had ceased so I needed the dollies in the front and lifted from the rear. So Mel, a very personable and friendly tow truck driver shows up with the perfect old-school style (although a newer model and very clean) short tow truck and knew exactly what he was doing - no questions asked! He took his time to make sure everything was hooked up properly and safe, and once we got to my mechanics place (who's business and car bays were literally in a very narrow alleyway with very little wiggle room to drop any vehicle let alone a van), Mel worked some magic maneuvers and got my van dropped perfectly in front of my mechanics bay doors. Tow companies need more guys like Mel who clearly enjoy their profession, are good at it, and care about their customers. BEWARE. Roadside assistance sent this company to put on my spare due to a flat. I gave them my wheel lock, the guy took it and went to his car for a tool. He came back with a rusty old wheel lock that looked nothing like mine. It didn't work as it wasn't mine, so they couldn't put on the spare. They then towed me to a shop where I had to pay $300 to break all the wheel locks off. The towing company blamed Costco for swapping the wheel locks when I did a retorque saying they gave me back the wrong one. Costco checked their cameras and confirmed I was given the correct wheel lock back. read more

Disappointed to find out that the aggressive tow truck company I filed a police report for is local. Driving down the wrong side of traffic, mid-day, running a red at an intersection with a park where most of the neighbourhood kids play. Continued straddling the opposite lane of traffic for at least 5 more blocks. When MTO starts licensing tow trucks, I'll be sure to share this with them as well because you're the reason they needed to start licensing tow trucks in the first place. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. These jokers were supposed to send a tow truck to boost my car and/or tow to the dealership if necessary. So they decided in all their brilliance to send this goof in a car NOT a tow truck that didn't know what a push start was!! WTF YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! He tried to boost my car with what looked like a flashlight, didn't even leave it on for 10 seconds then asked me to try to start it. I'm not stupid, I know you need to leave the charger on for a few moments, but nooo this jackass wouldn't wait. Then he tried to start my car with the valet key!!! Asked me where does the key go!!! He tried this crap a few tones so I asked him to stop that I needed a tow to the dealership. He then informs me there is no tow truck coming. I've wait 3 effing hours for this. So I have to call back Nissan Roadside and another tow truck is 1.5 hours away!! OMG I have now started to cry as I've put in a full day of work and have to deal with this crap for hours! I DO NOT RECOMMEND SSR TOWING. if they had sent the tow truck in the first place then at least I'd be on my way home. read more

This company is a joke. Picked up my m4 that needed roadside assistance on May 5th. Lazy operator didn't want to put the wood extensions so that the car would bottom out and scraped and damaged my 1,500$ diffuser. He ultimately pulled them out - after the damages... Called the company and no call back. Owner had too much attitude and denied any damage even though I have it videotaped and told them! Not to mention they charged me 287$ instead the Bmw rate of 139$. BMW will be reimbursing me the difference. Do not use these sharks!! read more

I would never recommend them. I called today for a quick boost, a car showed up and then asked for 120.00 plus 18% after talking to the dispatcher they settled on 70.00 cash. They have no morals at all. I used them as they where local and i try to support local. I hope they go out of business and they deserve to do so. DONT use them beware. read more

My SUV was not be able to started this morning, they showed up very quickly, and helped me to boost it, instead of towing to dealer, it turned out my car battery is dead. Since i booked through Canadian tire roadside system, no charge issue for me. read more

I called SSR when I needed my SUV towed. They asked me the model of my vehicle and then gave me a quote for towing which including a fixed price plus of $60 a per kilometre price of $2.50/km. I was told they would arrive in 30 mins. After several calls to remind them they appeared an hour later. Then the tow driver told me that the cost was going to be $120 flat rate even though I was only be towed 2 km away. He said the price increase was because I had an SUV which required a different type of hook up. Still not sure how that was relevant given that he was already on scene. What was most troubling was the fact that the driver appeared to change the price once he realized that my vehicle could not be boosted and that without a tow I would be stranded. When I told him I would not pay the extra money he then drove off motioning that he was coming back but disappeared for good leaving me standing on the side of the road. I then called his dispatch person who had taken my original call. He apologized that he had in error not understood that my car was an SUV and had quoted me a lower price by mistake. But he said that despite the error I would have to pay the an extra money. In the end I renewed my CAA membership and they towed me for $80 - wish I had made that call first. Strongly recommend that you avoid SSR towing. read more
