Especially when they have hockey tournament it is nice to see them. The hotel was hosting two teams from Fort McMurray- the peewee team and an atom team. It was Easter weekend so they were very accommodating. They let the parents stay out in the lobby and bring their own boos down to drink until whenever they wanted. I was apart of the atom team and i know for us we stayed down until 2:00am and the parents of the peewee team were down much longer after we were. As the parents were together the kids hung out together running around the hotel and the parents not really telling them to stop so the hotel staff was very patient. The kids were even going into the pool by themselves. As a result of it being Easter Weekend, the hotel allowed the parents to plan a hot wide easter egg hunt and it was very much fun and very loud with all the kids running around looking for Easter eggs so that was nice. Starting at 5 stars: - the hotel lost one star for having a hot tub that isn't hot - the hotel lost another star for putting WAY to much chlorine in the pool - the hotel gained a star for their patience and cooperation with us - the hotel gained a start for their amazing complimentary breakfast in the morning Therefore, it ended at another 5 stars !

I don't remember a single issue that could not be rectified by the very competent staff. It used to have a really tacky purple and green exterior... which I kind of miss to be honest! It definitely stood out. It's nice and sleek now and is definitely an improvement (not everyone has the same tacky taste as I do!). The staff during events always go above and beyond to make the guests comfortable and ensure they have a good time. They are very accommodating. If it's in your budget, the Top of the Inn is a gorgeous venue for your wedding. Great views of the city with windows all the way around the room.

Spoke to the credit card company three times and confirmed no issues on our end. It wasn't until a manager came who was able to solve the problem in 5 minutes. The room itself was nice, decently remodeled with microwave/coffee/fridge, which is where the 2/5 stars are coming from. However, the "game room" advertised has only 3 games that you must pay for. If you are traveling internationally I would avoid sadly.

The parking lot can get full in front of the hotel but there's also parking in the back. The staff who checked us in was friendly and the process quick. There are 2 elevators and the wait was never too long. Just outside of the elevators on the main floor is the pool area and gym. Being on the second floor, we also used the stairs and they were clean and not creepy. The room is spacious. The bathroom had ample counter space for 2 toiletry bags. There's a mini fridge and coffee area. It's too bad they didn't offer tea though and there was no sugar for the coffee which could have been missed for our room. The bed and bedding was comfortable and they give you lots of pillows. There was a sofa which is great for seating and magazines on the table. The work desk was also new and had a nice chair. The room would be great for business travelers and those on vacation and want to relax. I didn't use the pool/hot tub but it was often occupied. I used the gym on a Sunday morning and there were kids in the pool and adults in the hot tub. The gym can get a bit warm with the sun shining in the window but it's decent with an elliptical, treadmill, bike, and lots of free weights with one bench. Water in the cooler and sanitary wipes for the machines was great. The main area is nice with lots of seating and the open restaurant is convenient as there's also a Starbucks. I've had a few meals in the restaurant and the service is attentive and good food. There are conference rooms and washrooms close by too. The artwork in the rooms felt totally Fung Shui! The bathroom was spacious and had a huge armoire with iron and blow dryer tucked inside (thanks for helping me find it, Hans!).
