My experience at Saint Ambrose School during middle school was extremely disappointing. Going into middle school, I expected a supportive environment where students would be treated fairly, respected, and encouraged to grow. Unfortunately, that was not the experience I had. Throughout my time at the school, I often felt that some students were treated differently than others. There were times when it seemed like certain students received more understanding and support, while others were disciplined more harshly for similar situations. As a student, this created a feeling that not everyone was being treated equally. One situation that has stayed with me involved a classmate who had a heart condition and was not feeling well during class. From what I witnessed, she was struggling physically and needed water. The situation became upsetting because it appeared that her condition was not being taken as seriously as many students felt it should have been. Eventually, she left the classroom because she was not feeling well. As a student observing the situation, it was difficult to watch and left a lasting impression on me. My classmates and I felt concerned and frustrated by how everything was handled. I also felt that some teachers, including Mrs. Laura Frese, were often very strict and sometimes did not seem to understand the challenges that middle school students face. Middle school is already a difficult time in life. Students are growing, learning, making mistakes, and trying to figure out who they are. Instead of feeling supported during those years, I often felt stressed, discouraged, and afraid of getting in trouble over small things. Another issue I experienced was a lack of trust between students and staff. Many students felt uncomfortable speaking up about concerns because they believed they would not be listened to or understood. When students feel that their voices do not matter, it creates a negative school environment. Academically, the school may work well for some students, but my overall experience was overshadowed by the way I felt treated. School should be a place where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged to succeed. Unfortunately, I did not consistently feel that way during my middle school years at Saint Ambrose. I understand that every student's experience is different, and this review reflects my personal experience. However, based on my time there, I would not recommend Saint Ambrose School for middle school students. Instead of feeling like middle school was a place where I could learn and improve without constant stress, I often felt pressure and frustration during my school day. There were also moments that stood out to me involving how situations were handled in class. For example, I remember a classmate who was not feeling well due to a medical condition. From my point of view as a student, she was clearly struggling and needed help during class. The way the situation unfolded made many students uncomfortable, and it left me with the impression that health concerns were not always handled in the most understanding way. In my personal experience, I also felt that communication between students and some teachers could be difficult at times. I had classes with Mrs. Laura Frese, and there were moments where I felt that discipline was prioritized over understanding. This made it harder for students, including myself, to feel comfortable asking questions or speaking up when something was wrong. Overall, I often felt that the school environment did not match what I think a middle school experience should be. Instead of feeling supported and encouraged, I mostly felt tension and pressure.
