I'm genuinely concerned about the direction this school is heading. There have been reports that a…read moreteacher told a student he could make the student's life at school "miserable," and multiple students reportedly witnessed both that comment and what they believed was an exaggeration of the student's behavior. If those reports are accurate, they deserve to be taken very seriously. What makes this especially concerning is the amount of authority teachers have. They can influence grades, write disciplinary referrals, issue infractions, and assign detentions. A threat like this raises concerns about possible retaliation, and any misuse of that authority could have a lasting impact on a student's academic record and future opportunities. No student should have to worry that speaking up or simply disagreeing with a teacher could affect their record. These concerns are heightened by Great Hearts' past oversight issues. In 2024, several teachers within Great Hearts Texas were placed on administrative leave after it was discovered that required background checks had not been completed. Although that issue was eventually addressed, it raised legitimate questions about accountability and student safety. Students deserve to feel safe, respected, and confident that concerns about staff conduct will be investigated fairly. I hope the school takes these reports seriously and works to rebuild trust with students and families.

I went here from kindergarten to the 8th grade. The school has a very good curriculum, but I truly…read morewould not recommend it to anyone, especially for young children. In the South Elementary campus, they would put severe restrictions on things like bathroom and water access. I got many UTIs and infections while I was here, and now have permanent damage, and the school did not care. We could only use the bathroom and get water twice a day. The North campus was remarkably worse. For example, we weren't allowed to talk about pop culture. That encompassed everything from books to movies, to music, and politics. I brought the book Twilight to school, and a teacher told me it was "too modern", and said if I was caught with it again, I would receive detention. One girl was humming a Harry Styles song; she got detention. One boy used a slang term, detention. Teachers also made a huge debacle over us girls' skirts. I've heard stories of girls being instructed to kneel on the ground while a teacher pulled out a tape measure to see if a girl's skirt was up to the standard. All in all, it wasn't a great experience. (no pun intended). It's been over two years now, so I honestly can't speak for how the school is currently, but I don't imagine its any better.
