I'm alumni of SPX from the 90s and loved my time at the school and parish. We moved back here a few…read moreyears ago specifically to put the kids into SPX and reunite with the St. Pius family. Our kids have been at SPX for 4 years now and plan to continue a few more years through 8th grade. The school has been fantastic for the kids and the family. They have great educators and administrators and strong ties with the church and parish community. They have a new and growing early child development center daycare that looks great. I've heard nothing but good things though my kids did not participate in that. CYO (archdiocese sports league mainly for elementary age kids) is very popular and is very active with lots of great volunteer coaches. It's open to all the community. Our kids loved CYO when they were in elementary and it really helped build community with kids and parents. The gym is top notch as is the softball / soccer field. The school has a lot of electives and activities for the kids to get involved in including but not limited to: art projects, plays, mathletes, RISE, STEM, piano recitals, volunteer opportunities, market day projects, altar serving, stations of the cross, adoration, reconciliation, school Halloween carnival, parish festival, field trips, tours of high schools, athletics, school dances, etc. The PTC does a lot of great things for the teachers and kids through fundraisers (Gala, spirit night, shirt sales, dances, etc.) The Watch DOGS program is active where dads, grandpas, uncles, etc. come and help in classrooms, at lunch, and help make the school day fun and safe. The kids love their teachers and classmates and we couldn't be happier.

Kudos to those who have not experienced anything that "seems odd to say" IM SPEAKING FOR MY EXPERIENCE. The teacher doesn't seem to tolerate my child and speak the truth what's going on behind closed doors, just portray him as a problem when I as a parent took it upon myself to reach out to the office and principal and counselor and receive no help other than him getting negative notes in his folder and all of a sudden, now he's being sent to the office because I mentioned if he was a problem, why hasn't anybody said anything to the front office? I withdrew my child from the school. I have no faith just because they have a cross sitting outside the building do not trust smiley faces. I am disappointed in these adults who are also a grandparents could not help a child of God because they want to keep their image I suppose when we're all supposed to be a community and that picking and choosing who to support and ignore. Now today we have received yet another incident report (SECOND ONE THIS WEEK). Who is monitoring these kids? Why are the kids coming home with claw marks to their faces and gash to the head? The kids remain NEGLECTED and for that reason they are being removed today. So hard to find a good daycare/preschool these days . In addition, there were concerns regarding the conduct of staff members.My daughter became involved with individuals of a questionable character, and I found the experience of dropping her off at the institution to be extremely petrifying. In an effort to address the situation, a meeting was convened with the principal of the school and the district; however, no action was taken until a year later, by which time the drug situation had significantly deteriorated and even like that it has not been control. Also, to note my daughter's involvement in varsity-level swimming and polo for four years was observed, and an attempt was made to solicit guidance and support from her Coach Nelson. However, instead of maintaining confidentiality, the coach disclosed the matter to the entire team and mom in charge of helping. Consequently, the team and their teammates began to bully and isolate her, excluding her from all activities. Furthermore, none of her peers spoke to her, exacerbating the situation! The coach was also complicit in this mistreatment, as were some of the volunteer mothers who worked with him. The names of these individuals were Janet Stewart and Dana Robinson; They were supposed to be nurturing and kind, but they also mistreated my child and were abusive towards me, despite knowing that I was a single mother who had cancer.I submitted a complaint to principal and the school district again, but no action was taken. It was only after my child began attending Johnson that she encountered individuals of questionable character, and that drugs were permitted on campus. Nonetheless, it is gratifying to note that she successfully completed her studies at Johnson with honours, was awarded with an scholarship, and has now enrolled as a first-year student at a highly regarded university, where she continues to achieve academic excellence.However, the four years she spent at high school were a particularly challenging period for both of us. It is therefore not a school I would recommend. If it is chosen by the reader, however, it is important to be aware of the unsavoury characters that are present, and to not expect any support from the school district or its staff.

Look it up Poindexter! The only other local school to crack the top 100 was International School of the Americas at 92. Great job guys, now get your parents to brag about you. My understanding is that the basis of the poll is AP courses and exams as well as graduation rate and college enrollment. Now I'd like to think they actually base it on the charm, charisma and exceedingly good looks of the students' fathers but I digress. What do you expect when they allow you to roam the grounds with cameras and video cameras and have lunch in the quad like regular adults in college? It kind of makes you feel like a grown up. Can any of us say we were treated like grown ups in high school? I was still getting spanked as a junior to avoid detention on Saturday mornings all because of a few extra tardies! Hey those cigarettes weren't gonna smoke themselves. As parents if your kid is showing some maturity and promise in middle school it would be wise to check out the magnet schools for the high school level.
