When I called Eye West they were extremely helpful, kind and understanding on the phone. My fear was I either wasn't going to make it with traffic or walk in right when they were closing which is exactly what happened. Dr Alan…read moreLee (35+/-), educated at Univ of Wisconsin Madison Med School and the New England School of Optometry Boston, handles eye EMERGENCIES, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, pink eye, foreign object removal etc etc. I needed to have a very complex eye lense made because of an elevator accident 5 years ago. So it took a lot of research to find a SKILLED optician with full medical training. I wanted to AVOID at all cost going to a MASS MERCHANT like Pearle Vision, etc etc. I was shocked to find Dr Alan Lee's shop and practice so close to 94 East on White Bear Lake Road, and it was SPACIOUS modern with a carefully planned broad selection of glass frames from designer to moderate. (They also carry contact lenses.) I have a background years ago in fashion merchandising ( BloomingdalesNYC right out of college), and i found the selection surprisingly very good. Dr Lee majored in biology and neurobiology at U of Wisconsin Madison Med School and received his Doctor of Optometry in Boston at the highly respected New England College of Optometry. He was relaxed, friendly, not rushed and carefully checked all details of my prescription and exact placement of the various complex components of my special lenses. He has an assistant to help and appointments are advised. They accept all insurance and i had zero problems with this process. I received my new frames and lenses in less than 2 weeks. This is a rare find.

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I feel confident I'm getting the best care for my eyes! I see Dr. VanMeter for my regular eye exams. She takes the time to listen to me and makes sure I'm happy with my prescription. She always manages to dig up some samples for me, despite my not-too-common prescription. The exam rooms are spotless. It's a nice, quiet setting that's perfect for folks who experience appointment anxiety. This past year was my first time ordering glasses from the store, and I'd definitely order again. The staff were extremely helpful with my indecisiveness about the frames. They had great suggestions, and I ended up with a pair I love. I initially had some issues with the fit, and they encouraged me to return as many times as necessary to ensure I was comfortable with them. Their selection of frames are on the expensive side, but they seem to be worth the price. Things to note: There's a parking garage in the same building.
