We saw that the tasting was only $5 per person and couldn't pass it up as a cheap and easy thing to do while in St. Augustine. We stopped in unexpectedly, signed in without any trouble, and were done in under a half hour. It helped that it wasn't crowded at all and our group of 5 were the only ones on the tasting tour at the time. You get to taste 4 different cocktails made with their various products. The first two were decent, with the second being a step up from the first. The third was our favorite by far, a tiki rum cocktail that actually had a really nice flavor to it. The fourth and final one was a straight vodka pour from an older woman at the last station. She told us that good vodka shouldn't taste like nail polish, which is a bold thing to say right before handing someone a sample that tasted pretty much exactly like acetone. A couple of us couldn't even finish it. The staff overall were super friendly though, and it was genuinely cool getting to go behind the scenes and see all the big machinery in the distillery. Now the gift shop at the end is a different story. Everything was overpriced, and their clearance section was almost insulting, with maybe $2 knocked off the regular prices. We won't be buying any of their products, but for $5 the tasting itself was a fun little experience worth checking out if you're in the area.
Loved our experience here and for 5 bucks a person it's a great way to sample their products and head to the gift shop. No one's pushing you to buy anything which I like. It's a no pressure scenario. They get our money and we get to try 4 drinks . It's their bourbon, rum, gin and vodka with mixers . The people serving us were very nice and the place was clean and tidy and it was fun looking at all of the barrels. It is a must do when you are in St Augustine . Their spirits are smooth and tasty
The Distillery is decorated for Christmas and I'm loving every bit of it. The holiday spirits are high in more than one way with their self guided free tasting. Annabelle was phenomenal as one of the bartenders for gin and rum, Mike was also very knowledgeable. We tried the mule mix with vodka, the gin with the citrus mix, and I tried the bourbon mix with the straight bourbon and the port rum. I highly recommend this distillery! 10/10
The distillery was beautiful and nice but the lady that checked this out was rude as can be FYI there are no prices on the whiskey on the shelves for the higher in whiskeys. We thought we were paying $80 and when we went to bring up two bottles it was $408 and she copped an attitude and we said oh no we don't want those .
Wow wow wow the easiest 5 stars! We came here on a recommendation from a friend, and now I'm recommending it to everyone who comes to St. Augustine! We did the free self-guided tour, which includes 4 cocktail samples (not a whole drink, just a sample). Every single one was delicious and smooth, and served fresh by a bartender in different areas throughout the tour. There were signs explaining the different parts of the distilling process, an all of the staff were knowledgeable and helpful, especially the girl in the last room.
I bought a ticket for the Spirit of Florida Bourbon Experience. I checked in at the counter quite early, and was given a wristband for the tour. We were invited to visit the gift shop or wait in the lobby before the tour started. We were given free samples of a Florida mule drink while we waited as well. When the tour started, we were sent to a classroom like are where we were lectured about the spirits and given 4 different samples to try. Then we visited the distillery area and learned how their process worked. Our guide, Nelson, was very informative and entertaining, and the spirits were very strong. I wished we were given the spirits samples at the end as we we were quite tipsy and lost track of what our guide was discussing, but I guess better early then late so you can sober up and drive safely back home. The gift shop was nice and had lots of souvenirs to buy, and there was even a restaurant too. I didn't buy any gifts or eat in the restaurant, but maybe next time. Parking was free at their lot, but it can get difficult to find one during the busy hours. For 40 dollars after taxes and fees, the guided tour was nice and informative. And the samples are pretty strong. It was a fun and enjoyable experience, and will definitely be back for another experience.
Great Free tasting tour - 3 mixed tasting then straight liquors at the end on their store. They have you walking around to a couple of stations. You get your ID checked, get a wristband and fill out info on an iPad. Walking in to the first area, it seemed small but then it opens up to their distillery area and the store which was much bigger Everyone was pretty friendly and knowledgeable. They gave you a little story or info on the liquors and mixes. The vodka was surprisingly good for being made with the usual Florida cane. Reminded me more of a rum since it's made with sugar canes that look similar to it. It was pretty smooth and had to try a couple straight shots to make sure it was actually that good. No astringent aftertaste at all. The higher proofed and "overproofed" named rums were actually nicely made as well. Good finish with that burn, it would definitely be good in mixed cocktails. Especially with either Tiki mixer which was compared to a painkiller
Upon arrival, the distillery looks small but once you get inside, it's rather large and really cool because it wraps around into a restaurant located right next-door. We came for the tasting, we left with several bottles. For me? I call that success. Everyone was so genuine, extremely knowledgeable and their to make you have a good time. We tried several different spirits and even paid for the cool 10 year aged bourbon. The only complaint was that it was extremely crowded and there were constant waves of people so I would recommend if you don't like crowds to do the $35 private
I had a great time visiting this distillery. It was engaging, the employees were all super friendly & who can say no to a self guided tour with free samples?! From the moment you walk in there's someone to greet you & explain what they have to offer. There's a variety of drinks to sample & they tell you how to make the cocktails if you want to do it at home. The distillery is on the smaller side but you can really see how much character is packed within their walls. You're surrounded by the barrels & stills that they use to craft their delicious bourbons in while the smell of their mash fills your nostrils. It's heavenly. I also did the "perfect pair tasting experience" which only costs $24. During this, you're given 3 samples of their bourbon along with 3 specialty truffles from a local chocolatier. The idea behind this experience is learning how to profile the bourbons based off its many different flavor notes. The guide gives a history of the drinks, as well as the distillery & helps you navigate the fun task of sampling flavorful bourbons. I strongly recommend giving this tour a go if you want to enjoy your visit even more than what they offer for free! They even credit you part of your tour fee back as a gift card to use in their shop after. Coming here is a great time if you're looking for something to do a little off the beaten path of downtown. You can definitely make a good time out of your visit here if you play your cards right. There's multiple guided experiences also, one of which you can bottle your own bourbon during. If the free route is more your pace then you'll still be plenty satisfied with your visit. I can't wait to come back when I'm in the area.
After our brunch at the Ice plant restaurant, we went downstairs for the famous Distillery, which was definitely a hit. Although it was a bit crowded, the wait wasn't too bad. Since the tour was self guided, we got Regis and started the tour. The bartenders were so kind and very knowledgeable, each of the sample were thoroughly explained with ingredients and merchandise. My favorite was the Tiki one, it reminded me of the pina colada, sweet and smooth. I also bought a few items at the gift shop, can't wait to try out their bourbon pecans and bourbon. Overall, great experience, I had so much much and highly recommended this place if you haven't been already. read more

I've been to the Distillery multiple times as well as the Ice Plant restaurant. My latest visit was based on an opportunity to take the Certified Bourbon Steward class from Stave and Thief Society. Our instructor, Clark G., was outstanding. He obviously has a great love of bourbon and the distillery. He spent the day going over the presentation materials and sharing a lot of his knowledge about the industry and history. Having this type of class in person was fantastic. This is so much better than an on-line class. Clark answered our questions. He kept the class engaged and made it fun and enjoyable. I was very excited to be able to take this class and pass the test to become a Certified Bourbon Steward. I look forward to receiving my certification from Stave and Thief. Thank you to Clark and St. Augustine Distillery for sponsoring this training class. I hope that they are able to offer additional learning opportunities in the future. read more

I really don't like writing negative reviews but I really hope someone reads this and trains their staff on better customer service which will generate better sales. I did a virtual event with St. Augustine Distillery hosted by Yelp during the pandemic and I really enjoyed it. I was very excited to visit their distillery in person. I was quickly let down by the customer service and overall staff morale. Upon walking in there is lots of history to admire before you enter a self guided tour. I don't mind this option but I do prefer guided tours or atleast a guided tour upon request. Especially with so many people working. There must've been over 15 employees in a dead factory. We were the only guest majority of our visit. I would think that if their business was so slow... they would be less focused on pre-closing and more focused on making their guest feel welcome. We felt like we were bothering everyone. My husband asked "Do you make the bottles here?" And the manager tidying the floor answers "well yeah it's a distillary". Not sure why she had to answer in such a condescending tone. We are clearly tourist and trying to learn about the brand since the tour is SELF GUIDED. Towards the end of your brief walk in their factory there is a bartender that gives you two small mixed drink samples before entering the showroom/tasting bar. I enjoyed both drinks. He was strait forward, not super friendly. The overall process is fine. It lacks personality but that's okay. What was truly disappointing was the lack of friendliness. This was a mini vacation to celebrate our anniversary and we were ready to make some purchases as I already knew I loved this brand from the Yelp Event. To my disappointment every single staff member seemed like they couldn't be bothered. We didn't realize there would be steps to go into the showroom with our heavy stroller and not one associate took time to tell us a easier route or help us out. We let this slide... and continued on. What really killed our spirit (literally) was the snarky bartender at the tasting. A middle aged man with blonde hair. They say you can try whatever sample you want. We don't know what they have to offer. His overall demeanor was so snarky and pretentious. After talking to us both like we were idiots when we asked simple questions we decided we would rather spend our money elsewhere. Another couple that arrived after us left with the same sad notion. We didn't enjoy the experience at all. Instead of spending the last of your operating hours making the floor look perfect... perhaps you should direct your attention at your guest and actually sell your brand and represent it with honor. read more

Came here on a rainy day to pass the time, but so did everyone else visiting. There is limited parking and we did a few laps before a spot opened up. We did the free self guided tour which came with 4 free samples starting right at the beginning. The tour is very short and sweet. The guided tours are more detailed with a guide. The samples were good but one of the bartenders pouring came off like he was bothered by the whole thing. The end of the tour is in the gift shop that had all their bottles for sale plus some extras. Everyone in the gift shop was so friendly. There's an attached restaurant but we did not dine there. It was a fun little trip and killed an hour, and I'd recommend to whiskey lovers. read more

Tony and I went to the St Augustine Distillery. It is a free tour and you get several different tastings throughout and at the tours end you can ask to taste any of their alcohols you wish!! They have a 100% Proof Whiskey and a 75% Proof Whiskey. Lots of mixers!! We got a Gin and Tonic, and several other cocktails. The place was very well organized. Short tour, a full restaurant and a large gift shop with plenty of alcohol!!! Highly Recommend and definitely would visit again!! read more

We came in on a rainy day we booked for the tour online . Patrick was our guide and was great! Very knowledgeable friendly and had us laughing it up. The tour starts in a private room with very minimal seats and we were taught the process of it all and what it all means. Then we were brought into the warehouse. We loved this experience. My husband left with a bottle of port, the saint, and he filled his own and bottled it. This was a great experience. read more

We have enjoyed tours of this place over the past few years. It's now a self guided tour. They used to have in person tours every 30 minutes. I think the new process has streamlined things. We paid $15 for the cookie/ bourbon pairings/ tasting. It's a great time and worth the money. You are tasting $80,$150 and $200 bourbons. Lots of great samples in the gift shop too. read more

I loved all of the historical tidbits in the entry room. The free four tasters of their mixed drinks was great, as was the fact that you could try some straight tasters at the end of the tour. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is a combination of two things: one, the distillery didn't have a seating area where they would serve you full sized drinks (maybe this is due to Florida law??); and two, I just wasn't a big fan of their whiskey....though I am in the minority here, as I personally know multiple other people who love their whiskey. If you're in St. Augustine, I'd definitely stop in here, and don't miss reading all the interesting historical stuff in the first room. read more

This is one of the best craft distillery tours I've ever seen. They have it as self guided and in each area you will try a different small cocktail sample of their spirits. This set up is so smart! Those that prefer cocktails vs straight can try it mixed and then at the end you can try anything straight at the bar in the gift shop. The people there are so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! It was such a great experience we had to visit their sister distillery! The products were great too! I was a huge fan of the rum and vodka specifically! The bourbon, whiskey and gin were great as well. read more

Brought out of towners for a tour and tasting today. Since COVID the tour is self guided. Which is fine but I think you get a much more educational experience with a guide explaining process and answering questions. The tour has 4 tasting stations with cocktails made from their spirits and mixers they sell. The last station you can taste any spirit str8 as well. I wasn't a big fan of the mixers but the rum I liked. The bourbon was good but I'm not an expert so hard to tell. Their "the saint" limited batch is $200 and was good but I don't know one from any other lol They also have vodka gin and rum. Each $50 and made local. read more

Interesting tour- very informative - we did an end around and started sampling after 4.5 hours of driving. Nice array of vodka, gin, rum and bourbon.. Food upstairs was very good- my NE chowder was definitely different (lived in NE for 30 years) but very tasty. Not your cream, potatoes , bacon and clam typical chowder( more gourmet). Our waitress, Hope, suggested the southern fried chicken dinner with collard greens and biscuits. It was very tasty as was my wife's shrimp and dirty rice dinner. Portions were substantial so there was no room left for dessert. I recommend this establishment if you are in the area for both the booze tour and dining. read more

Still 5 stars! I love going to St Augustine Distillery- I'm usually happy to partake in the tour and enjoy sips of libations. My latest visit was me RUNNING for the newest Stones Throw release- I had bought a bottle before and we were out. I've been asking when another batch would be released and either staff was instructed to keep it hushed or the distillers were keeping it hushed! I was just visiting a few weeks ago and had asked about it. What's stones throw? A Port finished Rum- they trade barrels with San Sebastian and oh how I love their port finished rum and bourbon! I also love their other spirits and all of their merchandise! A continued favorite for me and John and anyone visiting us- we bring here! read more

What an amazing experience! The tour was FREE and there were different types of drink samples provided throughout the tour. There were a variety of drinks from vodka to bourbon to gin. The staff along the way were impressive! They knew about their drinks and played along with the *tipsy* guests as well which made for a fun time. At the end of the tour, you're invited to try any other drinks you didn't get to try because there is a bar in the gift shop. #genius read more

While researching things to do on our trip to St. Augustine, taking a tour at the St. Augustine Distillery was suggested on every list I came across. We stopped in on our last day in town, and we all had a good time! The tour is self-guided, and it is a lot shorter than I expected. We took our time reading all of the signs with information about the distilling process, so it lasted a little longer. It was interesting to learn about the process for making spirits! The tour included four different tastings: the Florida Mule with vodka, Old Fashioned with bourbon, Tropical Tiki with rum, and Essential Tonic with gin. All of the spirits and cocktail mixes are house made and sold in the store on site. You can also taste anything at the end that you want to. We tasted some of their bourbons. We also tried their vodka because it is made from cane sugar rather than potatoes, and it so good that we brought some home with us! I would highly recommend stopping at St. Augustine Distillery on your next trip to St. Augustine! By the way, did I mention that it is free? :) read more

I wanted to give him a huge shout out before going on about my review this guy is awesome and was the highlight of the review he actually spent the most time talking to us and even helped us on picking out what to drink. The tour was fun, very interesting facts that help bring it all together and also very informative on drinks it was great for us because we aren't big drinker but we have family we give gifts to that love to do it helped us out A lot we ended up going with the straight bourbon and the mix to go with it but I ended running back in to grab the gin and mix as well it was a fun stop, Also I left my free shot glass at the register hopefully the next time I'm in they can fix me up thanks again read more
