I was in the behavior unit there and it was awful. There were no clocks, and the staff was rude (they yelled at me all the time). Worse of all, they lied on the MyChart and also lied to me about what time it was. I was in there for anorexia, so I started eating the first day I was there so I would get to go home after the three-day holding period. They still kept me in there for six days and suggested longer. There were so many other things that happened to me in there, and I still get horrible flashbacks from there to this day. read more

Staff is ridiculous, no one has any clue what is going, nurses are lazy and incompetent. If you ask 3 different people the same question you will get 3 different answers. The nurses on midnights are just there to sleep apparently. No one tells you any information about anything, took a case worker 2 weeks to finally contact me about my loved ones care, and it was right before they were being discharged anyway. This place should be called Ringling brothers because it's a total circus full of clowns! I would never recommend this place to anyone, absolutely horrible read more

The physical therapist are rude. They don't care about your feelings. I was told they know my body then you do. And my therapist even laugh.

I was in panic. I couldn't sleep because my ears were clogged up with wax. I went to saint Catherine's ENT office and they took care of me. And I had no fear cause the Doctor used a vacuum to suck out the earwax. Some places they just pick at your ears to get the wax. But he used the vacuum except all the wax out. I was so relieved and so grateful excellent job. read more

This is just for Physical Therapy. I just completed my first therapy session last week and I was surprised that I actually liked my session. I can't say anything about the hospital but the therapy floor is very nice and spacious. They have a workout room that isn't that big but its ok to get back into shape. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Helpful when it came to adjusting some appointments and said if I need to change my days just to give them a heads up. read more

This hospital should be shut down for incompetence. I had a family member who lives in the area go this hospital (at her insistence) to treat an apparent kidney or GI infection. The doctors ran some tests, told her that she had kidney failure, congestive heart failure, and pneumonia. They kept her for 4 days, fed her a bunch of antibiotics, and then sent her home without rehab or any follow-up. At home alone, she collapsed, banged her head, and got concussed. We forced her to go a real hospital with real doctors. No renal disease. No congestive heart failure. No cancer. Something up with the bladder, but mostly just needs some rehab to regain strength. This review does not even address the friendly but lazy staff at St. Catherines--meals delivered late, medication delivered late, floors not cleaned, dinner trays not removed, and so on. I did not realize we had third-world hospitals in Chicago. read more

Very recently I had to go to St. Catherines emergency room. MY feet had swelled up and difficulty inhaling as well as overwhelming fatigue. Intense chest and head pressure. The nurses and staff began a battery of tests and attentions to figure out what was happening to me. I am not in the medical industry whatsoever so all the machines and IV's and cords hooked up to me were foreign. I had no clue what was being done to me as much as they tried to explain it and they really did try. My heart rate was through the roof. Sinus heart rythm out of whack drugs administered. From the woman sweeping the floors to the nurses and techs everyone was kind attentive and working hard. In such a vulnerable state I felt safe and confident in those caring for me. They were driven to figure it out. Dr. Llobet, Dr. Atassi and Dr. Khalil worked their medical expertise and had a plan of action in place. I shall never forget Dr. Llobet's smile. Kind and reassuring, soothing. It warmed me. The nurses flowing through shifts were all amazing. From the ER to ICU I had confidence in their executions toward my well being. Jon in the ER who will make a fine doctor one day, Antionette ( cute as a button and serious about her profession ) Nicole, Roz, Amy and James and the so many more that are in my blurred memory. You made this event a lot less stressfull and I hope one day I can pay it forward. Incredible teams give incredible results. I only have one minor complaint and that is the food. It really is nearly awful. lol I don't expect a 5 star meal but..although that orange cake was quite good. ; ) My experience merits 10 Stars. I am in awe of their expertise, their focus to attend to the problem and the humaness of empathy we see so little of today. To all of you who took care of me I am humbled. I very upset with er. I bought my daughter because she throwing blood. Them made us sit for three hours. I think this is very onfair. There were people that after us came. They act like then didn't care. If i was the type of person to talk to my lawyer, i would. But this will be the laat time we will every come to this hopsital. After having endured the robotically vicious staff at the Northlake Methodist psych ward only a month earlier, I was pleasantly surprised to find that everyone on staff at the one here is a normal person with professional etiquette, even real kindness. So great is that contrast, now that I think about it, I am absolutely sure that Dr. Butt, sadist ringmaster of the bad facility at Northlake, is long overdue for a dirty laundry airing that ends his career, closes down his empire, and drives him to bankruptcy and suicide. That would come nowhere near to a just reckoning, given how many lives he must have ruined by now, but it would be a start far more excellent than 500 lawyers on the Atlantic's bottom. About the only thing I hated at the St Catherine facility is the ancient ritual (honoring times when Dr. Lobotomy was cutting a swath across the nation in his van of tools advanced as trepanning's) of "stripping your bed" upon release. What that practice symbolizes is embarrassing to the whole profession: Nostalgia for its darker days. What I liked best are the views, which are anything but dungeony, and made by human beings with the health of human beings in mind. read more
