A little small, rather dated, but an excellent community anchor - especially the youth services and activities.

What a great feeling and honor to walk into the City of Roseville municipal office and library!…read moreEven though I am no longer a resident of Roseville since 1993, I grew up in Roseville as a child, teenager and adult along with 10 years of "Cruising Gratiot" in my many rust bomb cars to a few hot rod fancy classics. On this check in with my 87 year-old Mother we were walking up the sidewalk to enter the building to pay her winter tax and water bill. She was overwhelmed as well as myself to see and read the bronze history plaques along our walk with memorable information, and history of our city. (SEE MY MANY PHOTOS). The flagpole was flying the American Flag, City flag, with the State of Michigan flag. The statues along the way were clean and glossy polished. Inside I photographed the library door with hours along with the plaque of board members for the city. Since my mother is having memory issues she was happy to read the current names of them to refresh herself since she worked in the City Assessors office in the 1970's. The treasurer Michael Switalski is always happy to see my Mom and myself since I went to Roseville High school with his younger sister. All the departmemts along with their employee's are pleasant and available at the counters when needed. Also in the area is the police station along with the circuit court offices. I never had to use those 2 department's or building in my young adult life and while driving on Gratiot. I was always obeying the law and speed limit on the weekends. In conclusion it's a great feeling to drive by, or stop in here to assist my Mom and remember the good old days of Roseville!

The library is very clean and organized in a way that is super easy to find items. If you have any questions at all the staff is super friendly to deal with. They still have someone check the books out for you as opposed to some libraries that have self check out. I prefer the face to face interaction because when they check you out they look over the items and make sure there is no damage and if there is, they document it. Being someone who was once charged a fine for damages to a book that existed before I checked it out at a different library, I appreciate the way Roseville performs check outs. I also see that the library tries to have some kind of event going on to try and engage with the community. Overall, love this library.

Despite being located right next to the police station there are signs EVERYWHERE warning you to not steal, to beware of thieves, etc... Message delivered Warren, you have sketchy library patrons. The building it is housed in does have a gorgeous entrance with high ceilings and plenty of windows. They have a tiny isle in the back of used books for sale but for this library you need to drive a few miles to visit their Friends of the Library to purchase books, dvd's, puzzles, etc. They did have one motorized scooter, which my mom could utilize. They have nice wide isles for navigating the scooter. There was plenty of comfortable seating. I saw one printer and copier located at the front entrance. They have a free public parking garage for you to use, which is very nice during inclement weather.

Gilded The Edsel…read moreand Eleanor Ford House is, on the surface, a spectacular estate. The architecture--a refined lakeside Cotswold-style manor--is stunning. The grounds are immaculate. And yet, the overall experience left me with one word: tacky. Not tacky in the sense of bad taste, but tacky in the way a museum can be when it doesn't trust its audience. The message throughout is clear: Please, middle class, come see how the well-to-do lived--but on our terms, at our pace, behind our ropes. You arrive, eager to explore, only to find the doors locked until a specific tour time. So you wait. Outside. Like a guest at a party no one's ready to let you into. Once inside, you're sorted: self-guided vs. those who paid more for a guided tour. I could only imagine if a self-guided were to stand close and eavesdrop! Then come the barriers. Physical and psychological. You can see how the ultra-rich lived, but do not step deep into most rooms. Velvet ropes whisper stay back. Much of the art has been replaced with copies--originals long ago donated to the DIA (how generous, but also how convenient for security). Even the books are brazenly zip-tied together, presumably to deter mischief or theft. A low point? The kitchen. There, plastic, shiny faux-food--maybe straight from Target's preschool toy aisle--sits arranged to show what a prep area might have looked like. A plastic ham! A plastic cake! Oh, in a prep area! You crane your neck into an ahead-of-its-time bathroom like a zoo visitor spotting a rare animal. Yes, this very bathroom. The one someone used. Then you learn it wasn't ahead-of-its-time bathroom--this was what wealth bought for you! There's the playhouse--charming, yes, with electricity. Oh, it's a house. The Ford's philanthropy, parenting, and perfection are woven into every communication: nannies were present, but they were involved. Citizens, yes. Philanthropists, absolutely. Divine beings, apparently. The whole thing feels less like history and more like hagiography--a shrine to benevolent gods who once walked among us, now preserved in amber and zip ties. Verdict: Tacky. See it on your own if you must, but honestly, try an online tour first. It probably has more dimension, access, and interesting details than what you'll get on foot.

Tours are $20 and you're welcome to walk the grounds after, plus stop by the Playhouse (tiny house that was for the Ford's 7-year-old granddaughter) and the garage, where five antique vehicles are housed. The tour lasts an hour, our tour guide was Dan and he was great. My husband works for Ford so I thought he'd find the tour interesting, too. There's another tour, called Nooks and Crannies, that dives deeper into the house and it's history, and I'd like to take that one next. The grounds themselves are beautiful and there is a lot to see, including the displays in the Visitors Center, Bird Island, and the places I mentioned above. The Visitors Center also has a gift shop. I've heard they do concerts here in the summer, and I saw on Instagram that they will have a butterfly house, too, so I'll have to come back another time for that. Overall, I really enjoyed Ford House and hope to come back for the other tour at some point too.

Most of the instructors care about the students. Pro-Macomb has many good professors who love their jobs and care about the students. Con- Some of the so-called professors are very unprofessional, (math professors in particular) don't care whether the students pass or not, and deserve to be fired. When you have students putting in the effort and doing the work and instructors aren't showing up, showing up without a syllabus and/or being lost in their own textbook, it's time to re-evaluate who should be employed there. Especially if 3/4 of the class is failing. I would have given 4 stars if it weren't for the 2 or 3 subpar professors I had to endure who ruined my GPA. I earned a better GPA at Walsh College, a more difficult school than at Macomb due to Macomb's poor professors. Tutors here do not want you coming in and asking them for help. They're attitude is you're bothering them.

I grew up living pretty much a block away from MCC. I received two associates degrees from this school way back in the day. My highschool graduation was held at this venue. But as far as the robotics competition, it was not really a suitable venue. This place was simply too small for the number of attendees. The gym area was big enough for the contest and there were plenty of giant screens to watch from. But the bleachers were very small and quite scary. Some of the seats were completely broken. Many people had to sit on the floor which is not ideal once you hit about 40. They had a nice concession stand set up but only four tables. And you had to stand. My back was killing me and these competitions are 12 hours long each day. So sitting in a real chair would have been nice! There weren't enough rooms. So the presentation and Q&A portion was held in a room with nothing but curtain dividers. Now you get a group of 15 Jr high kids together and they are going to be distracted by all of the outside noises etc. Also, that room was also what they set up for the lunch room. So we were unable to get in the room until 12:30 on Friday. No snacks for these kids and no where for them to put their stuff or blow off steam. What a nightmare. MCC offered a pre-ordered box lunch with a variety of options for $6.50. This was nice however, it was extremely unorganized. They also had more diet Pepsi than regular. Seems odd for a kids event ‍. The real odd part for me was that there was a mask mandate by both MCC and also FIRST robotics. I agree with this mandate, however they then stuck about 1000 kids and all of their parents in this make shift cafeteria to remove their masks and eat. There was not enough room for the whole team to sit and eat. The adults had to stand. But talk about a super spreader event! I mean why bother with masks if you're going to do that? I worked first aid and witnessed a panic attack over the cafeteria situation. I will say campus police were heavily present. Oxford highschool hosted the event and they did a lot to make them feel safe. Not to mention, Friday was a day of some stupid tick tock challenge so security was on high alert. One thing I found odd was that if there was an emergency we were directed by MCC to call campus police and not 911. But what are they going to do if we needed an ambulance? Just very strange. But thankfully, other than vomit, a sprained ankle from the bleachers, and a few bandaids there were zero major events.

When you go in, I recommend going all the way to the left where they have a room that features a few walls of interesting books. They also have several different sort of resource centers. The most amazing thing is the upstairs, it's like a museum. It has art all over the ceilings that transport you to Europe. It's a nice place to study, there's huge rooms to do so, one with a view outside to the art museum. You can usually have an entire huge table to yourself!
