I've now completed my treatment with Gareth and I can only say that he is a weird miracle worker, his methods seemed a little strange at first but as he works he explains everything as he go's along and all makes great sense. I now have no pain at all in my hip, I could barely stand for 15 mins and sometimes walking was excruciating. Now I've started to regain feeling in my foot, my calf is better than ever. They apparently pride themselves on being an ethical organisation - this couldn't be any further from the truth - Sharks would be better suited to describe them!!!

After asking around I was directed to this little street just off of St Mary Street. I gave them a call, explained I didn't have a dentist and that I would be paying for treatment. I soon had my appointment and couldn't wait to go and see the dentist (there was a sarcastic tone which you probably didn't detect there, I hate visiting the dentist). What I found was that the waiting times were fairly short provided you arrived on time, after filling out a form I was soon in the dentists chair and this guy had his hands in my mouth checking out my pegs. He advised me that I would need some fillings and that he was quite surprised my teeth were in such good condition considering how long I had left it until now. He then told me I could make an appointment at reception for the fillings and also to visit the hygienist upstairs. I was surprised when the receptionist told me I could go straight up to the hygienist as there was a time slot available immediately. I left here with bight, shining white teeth, feeling a million dollars and confident that my return visit in approximately one weeks time would be as painless as possible. And it was too. This is a very good dentist, and I don't like dentists in the slightest so take from that what you will.

It's one long and tall brick building that seems to levitate on the top of a hill overlooking Penarth. Lots of gardens and space and flower beds add to the atmosphere of an old fashioned place. It's respectable in its traditional nature. And, now wait for it, because this is kind of cool, they have the world's first ever high definition MRI. Whoohoo!

The building itself is old Victorian brick, much smaller and better laid out than the sprawling Heath Hospital. The vibe here is also much more chilled, less traffic, less urgency. I visited the midwife led unit as part of the antenatal class in order to weigh up my options. The unit is like a four start hotel - spacious rooms, double beds with duvets, birthing accessories and birthing pools. This is the place I wanted to give birth. Unfortunately with an old pelvic injury I was advised to go to the Heath hospital where they had surgeons on hand. If there were complications I would have had to wait for an ambulance like everyone else. If you drive here by car no need for coins, rather fantastically, unlike most other hospitals parking is free.

My new dentist has since discovered the root treatment they also did on me was so poorly done it was as good as useless and needs to be redone at a cost of £600+. I don't know how they get away with this kind of service as the poor work they do always leaves its evidence behind so when you find a competent dentist all will be revealed. Don't bother with these jokers it will cost you hundreds or possibly thousands ££££ I now go to "Devon Place 7 Day Dental" who have since had to fix all of their shoddy work putting me out of pocket.

I have mixed views on my various experiences. Remember, most, if not all of these Doctors are not strictly PRIVATE Dr's. They are NHS doctors who 'moonlight' in the private sector. Therefore, to my way of summing up the various experiences here at the Spire, most Doctors are 'conditioned' to treat patients with a 'speed' and 'efficiency' that would make even Kylie Minogue appear slow during one of her quick change sessions at a live stage event. Each Specialised Physician I have seen here has treated me with varying degrees of empathy and proficiency. AND, I have been charged in a similar way as well. So, not on the same playing field. My main criticism, and word of caution regarding the 'Spire' themselves, when it comes to getting 'procedures done,' not only get a quote, but, GET IT IN WRITING. They will want to take an 'imprint of your card.' Pay cash if you can, and pay PRIOR TO the procedure, making SURE that's ALL you are paying for and having done, therefore, not a penny more. You don't want them coming back afterwards saying, "but you had this, this and this," when you ONLY wanted, "that!"
