First time attending mass at this parish. I was very impressed. Sometimes priests give disjointed rambling homilies. That was not the case here. The homily was easy to understand, relatable, pertinent, and well delivered. read more

While at first it seemed welcoming and honestly it's not really the church itself, its mainly the pastor. His teachings of the bible were good up until he hinted at his political view on abortion. I grabbed the mini book he asked us to grab if we wanted know about "pro life" and reading it made me realize that one, his view on the bible and the word of god may be skewed and two, he probably bought that pamphlet off of amazon. While I understand the pro life argument, telling a woman that if she's a victim of a rape pregnancy to go through with it anyway or if she has some health concerns to just get a c-section instead is immoral. And if those really were the words of god he would want what's best for his children, this isn't that. Do I recommend this church? I'm not sure... Maybe if the pastors preached unbiasedly. Though I'm not recommending my friends or family this place. read more

Maybe I am out of touch with the catholic church but I attended mass recently and was very surprised that the priest spent one hour talking about finances and that we should give at least 10 percent of our salary to the church, this doesn't help their cause. read more

OMG...I feel like I'm going to hell for writing this review on a church...but I HAVE to! To make a long story short and to save my soul for everlasting burning.... Thhis church doesn't allow strollers in it. Really nice people greet you at the doors and then when you sit down 2 to 3 men come right atcha and tell you some bogus story about how having a stroller is a code violation in case of a fire...yadda yadda yadda! Unless you have small children you may not understand me, but having a stroller at church is a necessity. I like to teach my daughter that for that one hour we go to church it's quiet time and no playing. However, if I have her carried the whole time she will get bored, get cranky, wanna walk, talk and all sorts of things! There is no control without a stroller. To add insult to injury, there arent any pews! There are chairs and when its time to kneel, to the concrete floor we go! UGH!!! If you can go to another church, go for it! If you wanna go to military camp, ST Edwards is the place to go! OMG!!! I am soooooooooooooo not a good girl right now! read more

My husband and I love this church. We visit our friends and Miami yearly from Tampa and during the times we are in the area, we get excited to visit this church. Actually we wish we could clone it and have one just like it in Tampa. The music is incredible. There is a mix of upbeat songs and nice reflective slower songs. The sermons we have heard are great. The parish has a very nice community feel. Very welcoming and friendly. It is a diverse community of people which is nice. It is a great reflection of how the world is... Diverse with many cultures and races :). We love how families come up together for communion and as they do, the families pray over one another. So great and rare to see. This is making me want to drive 4 hours just to go to church and I think that shows a lot of how awesome this church is. read more

Parish is an amazing place for folks of all types. A charismatic Roman Catholic community, the liturgy won't put you to sleep. A wide range of resources for folks of all types and messages during mass actually apply to your daily life. From nightly Adoration services to great community events, a wonderful place to call home. I guess the people who reviewed before talking about strollers didn't bother to read the signs clearly showing that it is the City of Pembroke Pines Fire Department that prevents strollers in the building. Blame a church for following city code? Wow. I would think folks would be looking for a place of worship based on spiritual growth, not if their child can eat cookies during services. read more

You will love this Church- A wonderful feeling. You are welcome at the door with beautiful music inside. Get there at least 15 minutes before mass because that is when the music starts. Fr. John is outstanding. Ft. Albert is wonderful. Once you attend you will want to come back. read more

The church is small and it isn't the completed model. There was I am not sure if it still is in the works, suppose to be the actual church building with the pews and all that fancy stuff. Taking that in to account, the strollers DO cause a problem if they are in the aisles. The floor is not concrete it has a carpet. It does not hurt to kneel down on it. It may be a small church and it may have it's difficulties but it is an amazing family. Like all families it has it's dysfunctional moments. But the love of God is certainly always present. I would highly recommend going and experiencing a mass for yourself before making any conclusions. read more

Very unfriendly, felt like an outcast at a recent service. I will never set foot in this church again. They should take a look at it's staff and figure this out. I am so happy that I am not a local there and feel fortunate to go to my church where I always come out feeling refreshed and wonderful. I do not recommend this place at all. I have been at St. Edward church since 1995 and I'm very grateful that God led me there and provided my children with a loving and spiritual environment. The music is modern and phenomenal. The church is absolutely graceful, peaceful, and quaint. I am much more of a spiritual person than a religious one, and come here alone for peace and reflection as it is nearby. I don't want to bash this place, but was quite disappointed when the priest refused to pray over us during a difficult IVF (in vitro fertilization procedure) as it is against the church. I was automatically dismissed. I understand that the Catholic religion is stringent, but when someone comes in for prayer because they are struggling, emotionally spent, and need to find solace, they should not be shunned. God would never turn on his kids and I don't think the church should either. read more

a better way to atttact more church goers would be to have the last row closest to the exits fashioned to accommodate strollers, wheelchairs, and working dogs. turning people away because they have strollers is not good for Jesus' business. maybe you could make a suggestion to your church leaders. read more

This is a very beautiful church, and it has ample parking etc. The only thing I disliked about it is that a few years back when my son was at the age to enroll for his First Communion program, they told me the program was closed the day before. If you live in the area, you know at the time St Edwards was about the only choice around and I had to explain to my little son that he could not learn about the Lord just yet ... because we were a day late! I don't blame the church but the person that answered the phone, secretary or whoever she was, so I wrote a note to the priest on the website, just to find out, after I was done, that he could not receive emails through the link unless I was authorized to email. That's when I pretty much gave up on this and had to wait a whole year later to enroll my son . read more

Michael Eivers was comissioned to open this church in 1996, when there were still alligators in the property were the actual church has been built - just a joke! Father Mike, how we call him, is an anointed man that has been a priest for more than 50 years. Despite of his age, he ignited this community with the fire of the Holy Spirit through the Live in the Spirit seminars. There are many Ministries and opportunities to grow and mature in your faith at St.Edwards. Yes, it is an organized church, where mature people lead others into a closer relationship with the Lord. Cant comment on services or the people as wecame on Monday. We were in the area visiting Bethesda by the Sea.We had come over to eat at Greens pharmacy because it had some good reviews. Wouldn't eat there again as I wasn't impressed with food though service was good and the shakes were good though overpriced. We happened to see this church while there and walked over to take a peek. Being from a Baptist/ nondenominational church background I confess to a little envy for the beauty those of the Catholic and Episcopalians get to have in their buildings. This church has a beautiful altar and stained glass. While I loved the architecture and gardens at Bethesda much more, I think the glass here is better. Beautiful church. I would say to other posters to have a heart and compassion for the woman with the stroller. Yes there is no room for strollers to be brought in,but it does seem like a place could be provided at the back of church for wheelchairs and strollers. Paul did say he became all things to all men to win some. Jesus would make a way. If there is a way to show love to those who want to come why not do it instead of judging their parenting skills? read more
