Linda & Eddie McCandless The staff at both hospitals are as good as they get....Frank in the ER Dept. in Covington, KY is the reason we stopped smoking....Joan in Central Scheduling is so accommodating. their home health staff....Joan and the rest are kind helpful .I cannot say enough about these great people ...my memory isn't what it used to be ....but the lady that helps you with getting into rehab etc ...cheerful ..sweet...the lady that explains about your condition wonderful their personalities are the best....it is clean they call you back when you get out of the hospital ...to see how you are and give you the information you need to know to keep you up to date....I have lived in several states.....they are the best by far .. read more

on 5/29/19 I went to the ER there at St Elizabeth. I came in in extreme pain, unable to breath properly and stand up straight. they got me back to a room fairly quickly and then proceeded to give me all kinds of muscle relaxers. I was there for 4 hours writhing in pain, still unable to breath properly and now so full of muscle relaxers I couldn't walk straight. after 4 hours they finally gave me something for the pain and almost immediately kicked me out. when my mother and I asked what we should do if this happened again we were told "we don't hand out narcotics like they're candy" and I was sent on my way before the pain medication had a chance to work, with out a single test being run. I never saw a doctor and barley saw the physician's assistant. 2 days later I went to a different hospital, and after running a blood test, I was diagnosed with something /completely/ different and finally got the help I needed. I will /never/ go back to this hospital again. the way I was treated is completely inexcusable. read more

This hospital treated me like absolute shit. The doctors were a joke. They never got close enough to me to treat my staph infection, nor would they listen when I told them the source was an ingrown hair behind my ear. In the ER, the idiots started throwing out words like "malignant" and "necrotic tissue" thinking I was too stupid to understand what they were saying. Every ignorant idea they had about my infection was incorrect, and the treatment for staph was to put me in a room, hook me up to IV antibiotics, and apply ointment to the area they never once attempted to clean. I asked for topical lidocaine, they 1st gave me morphine, which was ineffective for the pain and sucked balls to have in my body. I complained, so the next drug was dilaudid, which was just as ineffective for pain and made me want to chase the bunnies down the hall. 3rd was Norco, which was more effective, and allowed me to get some sleep, so I took it, all the while begging for lidocaine. Finally, I received 4% lidocaine ointment, which worked like an absolute charm. Seriously, with the heroin/opiate problem we have in this area wtf were they thinking? I asked the nurse why I had to be so damn noisy to get simple lidocaine, and she said the doctors didn't think it would work. Amazing. It blew the mind numbing, addicting shit out of the water in terms of efficacy, and the bunnies disappeared altogether. I couldn't sleep, and my boyfriend asked the nurse for something to help me out with that, and she said that would be overdosing me. I told him to go back and tell her I wanted melatonin, and at least I got that without a fight. They refused to tell me the results of any of my tests, they took my blood so much my arms looked like I had a $100 a day habit. One doctor in particular made me angry enough to bombard him with f-bombs and tell him to gtfo of my room and never come back. The head doctor was more reasonable, but still an asshat of epic proportions, just a nice asshat with a good bedside manner. I had a very nasty, communicable infection, but they never changed my bedsheets and the bathroom was atrocious. A maid came in once and although she was sweet as she could be, her cleaning skills were non-existent. She did tell me where to get good deals on magnified mirrors with light options, so not all was lost with her. I was told I couldn't leave my room, but day 2 I lost it and the nurse I had at that moment was actually human, and she just asked that I promise to come back. I should have realized then I was a prisoner, but I thought maybe she gave a shit about my health. I mean, hello, she's a nurse, right? But after I had enough of their malpractical shenanigans and decided at 5 in the morning on the 3rd day I was leaving against medical advice, my 4th nurse did her best to talk me out of going, failed, then went and got big bitch Bertha head nurse from Hades to attempt to strong arm me with her ugly mean mug into submission and back into that filthy bed. Not a flippin' chance, nurse Ratchet. Maybe I'll see you next Tuesday. They left the room, I was packing my stuff, and 4th nurse returned and said in all likelihood if I left without doctor approval, my insurance wouldn't approve my claim for hospitalization. She had the decency to look guilty as she threw that baldfaced lie at me. I don't blame her, I know she was only doing as the scary head nurse told her to do. I pity her for having that overblown hayseed quack for a boss. Needless to say, everything was covered, even though I left against medical advice. After 4 days at home on oral antibiotics, a strict self-cleaning regimen 4-5 times per day, and much needed uninterrupted sleep, I have nearly cleared the infection on my own. Rewind to more than 3 months ago, when I first went to urgent care (4x total), begging them to remove the ingrown hair BEFORE the infection turned into staph... I was told there WAS NO HAIR. I had a CT scan in the ER that finally confirmed it was there, ingrown and sassy as all get out, making my life a living nightmare. Just like I said it was. No one listened before or after. Damn thing is still in there, but I'll be seeing an ear nose and throat specialist soon to finally solve this problem that landed me in the black hole that is Edgewood St. Elizabeth hospital. It was the single worst medical experience I've ever had, and trust me, I've had a few doozies. read more

Personally if I had my way I would not use their services. I had an ER visit and when my insurance paid what they were going to pay I called the business office to set a payment plan for the rest. I wanted $50 a month, they wanted $62. We figured it out and one month later I get a call from them again saying that I had not paid my bill. When I explained that I set up a payment plan and mailed a payment the girl said they did not receive anything. I checked my checkbook and told her how much I paid and then she says oh I didn't say we never received anything and then quoted the amount I paid and when they received it. They just wanted to pressure me into paying more. Yea, they are such a caring hospital. I so hope that Christ Hospital builds over here so I can use them. I hate this monopoly. read more

I was traveling in the area for work and had a heart attack with a quadruple bypass. The care I received was outstanding. The quality of the hospital itself and the staff was great. The folks of Northern Kentucky are fortunate to have this health care facility in their area. read more

The treatment my son received at this hospital from the nurses and staff was excellent but the nurse practitioner that we saw named Monica was very rude. Not once did she introduce herself she was very matter of fact and not friendly. She made a couple of very rude comments to my son. My son was in there for a golf injury that sliced his ear in half he was in a lot of pain. As he was being stitched by Monica i was trying to make small conversation to make him feel better so I said son she is trying to make you pretty again so that u can find a nice wife. Monica the nurse practitioners response to this was "well he needs a job first." My son was very offended as he laid there at her mercy. It was very awkward and uncalled for. He is 20 yrs old and is home from UK taking a break to find himself. I do not feel like it was her place to say this to him. read more

Might be clean, certainly not professional. Went there for testing during pregnancy, wasn't worth the stress. I would have been better off driving the extra 15 minutes to Ohio. I received 3 bills for one Non-Stress Test, pathetic that such a huge hospital doesn't even employ their own perinatologist. Don't forget to set up a payment plan... that's right set you cant just make payments. Paid over $500 on my 4 month old bill and was sent to collections. Sorry I'm actually responsible and was paying my bill.... Then customer service had to get manager approval to take me out of collections. Had to make 4 different phone calls just to get a payment plan set up, which might not be hard for some people but I don't have 15 minutes to waste every time with automated calling putting account #'s just to have to repeat myself to a live person... read more

my son and i were at emergency room Edgewood Ky where he was diagnosed by a doctor wolf who was rude and i believe misdiagnosed him on 5 26 2013. he was treated for scabies and no scrapings or blood tests were done. today is 5 29 2013 and his sores look like boils and he is in a great deal of pain and taking scabies drugs. he doesn't have insurance and in my opinion he was treated like there was no compassion for what he was/ is still going through. he has been too sick to go to emergency room in Cincinnati i may have to call 911 to get him the help that he didn't get from an emergency doctor in Edgewood Kentucky I believe doctors take an oath to do no harm. what happened? read more

This hospital is wonderful if you are willing to die before your time. My brother went into this hospital a year ago in Feb 2011 and was still in that place when he died on 1 April 2011. When admitted, he was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia. The day after admitted, he was basically put into a medical coma as they stated he was fighting the breating tube that was put into him to help him breath. He stayed in that coma for nearly a month before they decided they had to put a trachea in him to assist with his breathing. When he was awakened from the coma, he was basically paralyzed from his neck down. I sat with my brother day and night in that hospital for 2 weeks of his time in there and watched the care they gave him. I have pictures of the care they gave him. He became a bother to the nurses in ICU. I watched patients get staph infections as well as other infections while they were in the hospital. I watched the nurses go into one room where the patient would have an infection, and then come into my brothers room and not wash their hands or use the sanatizer hanging on the walls before they would touch my brother. My brother could not talk because of the trachea, so he could not tell them if anything was wrong or push the button for assistance. Every time you turned around, they fed him more and more medication so he would not be a bother. I also observed the nurses yelling at another patient constantly. If the nurses were busy and he would need something, they would come running to the hospital room with a needle to give him more and more medication. I listened to the nurse tell my brother to shut up and go to sleep, when he could not even talk. If this is the type of care you want when you are in the hospital, by all means, go there and be admitted. read more
