I do not recommend this school at all if you have a child who will be new to this school it would be the worst for her or him. This school will not do anything if your child is being bully or abuse by other students they will not do anything. I am so disappointed at this school my kid is traumatized for life he doesn't want to attend school anymore of everything this school did to him. My kid is taking physiology at this moment and, I will open a case of all the trauma my kid has at this moment. Principal is the worst my kid was bullied by the own teacher and the principal normalized this behavior until I have to speak with the priest and report all this behavior. This school does not care about your children at all, the bullying here sucks specially when you are a bit on the heavier side, if you live in a poor area or poor in general, have any self harm scars you will get made fun of getting called "emo" "human cutting board" etc and they will get pointed out. The punishments here and dumb, if someone tells you to kill yourself, the school would only talk to that person and not do much about it. The kids here specially the kids who are graduating in 2024 are not good people at all, they spread lies, rumors, body shame, get physical, etc. Big chested girls! If you are coming to this school and going into 8th grade of this year, DO NOT COME TO THIS SCHOOL! The boys here will get very inappropriate with you and what I mean by that is they are gonna say sexual/uncomfortable things about you (and if you are coming here to this school, The girls here are manipulative, try not to share any secrets with them at all, specially when theres rumors and lies going on about you. Now, I'm not saying you don't have avoid these people at all, you can be friends with them and stuff yknow, all I'm saying is be careful, try to avoid drama, and focus on your work, now back to the school itself. The school itself is nasty they don't clean the outside bathroom and hardly clean the inside bathroom, if you are in the upper grades of 6th, 7th and 8th, you are forced to use the outside bathroom which is nasty as hell, it has a bunch of bugs like cockroaches and spiders. Staff is okay, they are nice. Food here is a 50/50, pizza on Thursdays (The pizza made my stomach hurt for a few days and many others stomach) the reset of food also smells like human poop ngl. I attended school at St Emydius from 1st thru 3rd grade in 1970s. I enjoyed the school, curriculum, my non-nun teachers, the activities; however, I did not enjoy Sister Veronica. She was incredibly abusive with me in the 2nd grade. Even when I was no longer in her class, she would continue her harrassments. I have prayed for her my entire life for her to come to understand the love, the unconditional love, of Christ. He was the utimate servant. I know He heard my prayers and it is my hope He blessed her with a peace that surpassed all understanding. Mrs. Fernandez was my favorite teacher if all. Not a nun but a woman who mentored me, was so kind to me, and made an investment in me. Today I show the same loving kindness as her example to me. No matter if I am training someone at work, presenting before a crowd, or mentoring, it is my desire to show love and patience, as did Mrs. Fernandez with me. Amazing how her treatment of me impacts my life today. I am thankful to her. My father died and I could not finish my catholic education. Public school was a bummer... in 9th grade I recalled subjects I learned in 3rd grade class with Mrs Fernandez. It is decades later and I often reminisce my days at this school and my teachers. The school has gone with too many changes the last few years. The new principal is NOT good or competent. The school was better before.

I was in Miss Longo's class in kindergarten in 2001. She was verbally abusive and mentally abusive. I remember she used to tell all the students in class to yell at me and scream at me and abuse me. There's so many things that I have blocked out of my head from the school I was only in kindergarten and I hated school and every school after that I was terrified, timid, and shy. I remember when I was like five before going to the school I was a vibrant child, artistic an no one could mess with me. The school broke my spirit and my cousins cousins. I went to the school before me or physically abused and don't even talk about what they went through or even wanna talk about it. I hope one day someone sues the school, and they close it down. To anyone that has gone through abuse you are not alone tell your story and speak to a lawyer . There is nothing religious about the school and they do not care about their students please this is a warning get your child out of that school. read more

They have a great festival here Live bands great food ... The staff here are very friendly everyone is smiling having a good time and working hard. The principal is very nice she was helping everyone she could you could see her passion for the school. They had ride for the kids that was pretty cool. The food is awesome it's made right there authentic Mexican food delicious. The school is well maintained too you can tell these kids take pride in going there. They had costal Eddy playing there they were great. It's cool to see that a principal goes though all this work for the kids and for the school. It's nice too see the parents helping out too. I hope they raise lots of money for book and much more .these kids need to get a chance at a good education. If your in the area roll up and spend a couple dollars on food or games to help out I did so can you. I'll be back next year to help out. Anybody hear who attending during the mid 90s remember the pizza this place used to serve? If I remember correctly it came ordered from a local pizzeria. Best pizza I ever had. Nothing bad to say about this school yea some teachers totally lost it on students sometimes but I called the meanest one a B*** once and lived my 2nd grade fantasies. Also a kid got stung by a bee while eating pizza I still hear his screams in my head. read more

Their facilities are very dirty. First a though it was because they were having a fair, but no its always like this. Bathrooms are still old style no T.P. no towels to dry your hands, doors on the stalls don't lock. Im surprise to say that the actual classrooms are clean though. read more

I attended St. Emydius Catholic elementary school in the 1960's. I was verbally abused as well as harshly disciplined by the parish nun teachers who had slapped and beaten other students. I do remember an aggressive male classmate who stabbed a lead pencil into my arm that hurt and physically harmed me. I was also assaulted by a male student who was following me around school and violently kicked me in the church parking lot when I was arriving in the morning before school classes began. My parent's Ford truck got vandalized and egged by these out of control students while during a church sponsored carnival event. This constant bullying towards me by such students was never properly dealt by the St. Emydius parish administration who looked the other way. There was no punishment ever given to them as these unruly students were allowed to continue to act out with hatred. There should be zero tolerance for such student violence. No doubt that these classmates whom I had attended school with in the 3rd and 4th grades are now middle aged adults who have gone on to hurt other fellow citizens. read more

During 1964-1967, I was a young girl who attended St. Emydius Catholic school as desired by my parents that I receive the best educational experience ever. This school and church could be referred to as a dungeon. The nuns who taught us were abusive teachers who would beat us over the heads with wooden rulers if any one of their students acted up in class. We were sent home with several hours of extra homework as punishment. For three years, I was bullied as a child by several menacing boys in my classroom. They would laugh at me, put gum in my hair, and one even jabbering a pencil lead into my arm. My teacher and others in authority would look away and ignore this abuse of mine. One morning, I as I was entering the school yard prior to class there was one of the class bullies who beat me up badly. I was crying in pain from the cuts and bruises all over my legs as I ran to the principal's office for safety. The school principal and teachers all knew about this boy's agressive behavior towards me however, they all failed in their administrative duties to protect an innocent child like me from peer violence. I was eventually moved to a different class section after my beating incident. I didn't deserve to be treated in this manner and I felt harmed as a result. To this day, it has left emotional scars in my memory of this horrible place. I would never recommend any parent to let their child go to this elementary school as themselves too could be endangered. There is a great lack of staff supervision and safety in this religious, academic educational institution as a whole. read more
