My Son did 2 years in that school TK and kindergarten we took him out because we had found out that they would take him out of class and send him to another class room because the kindergarten teacher could not work with him. I was never told anything that she would send him to another classroom until the TK teacher told me I always have him here in my class. it was very upsetting for me. When she seen i took care of this problem teacher asked to go on stress leave. There also no support for kids who are in the Autism spectrum there. read more

I came interested in enrolling my son to the school. I knew it was going to be a big monetary commitment but attending church and father Nabor alway advocating for a religious education is what finally convinced me to want to enroll my son here. On the day of my appointment the secretary was very kind and exited for me. While I was filling out the paperwork I was waiting for the principal to arrive. When she arrived the mood completely changed. She said for us to talk before I even wasted time filling out the paperwork. We proceeded to talk and one of the things that they asked for was my sons grades. My son has been diagnosed with ADHD so he has struggled to focus on tasks and his grades reflect that. The moment she saw his grades and found out of his disability she said she wasn't sure about him because the parents who have their kids enrolled pay for their education and she couldn't have my son be a distraction to them. Deep down inside when she said that it broke me. 1. I knew i would be paying monthly for my son to attend this school I was not expecting for him to attend for free and 2. she made me feel like my son was not good enough to attend this school. None the less I keep my composure, the principal then stated I would have to meet the teacher who would be teaching his grade and if she felt like she could help my son then they would accept him. I made last minute work accommodations to attend this other meeting with the teacher. The teacher gave him a test and said they would be reaching out to me once the test was reviewed. I never heard anything from anyone after that meeting. I was heart broken that my church's school would treat me like this. I have been part of this church since I was a child myself, I was very active in the chuch starting at the age of 9-25. I cried, Iam still in disbelief. l can't belive that a place that is supposed to teach love and compassion treated me without those standards. read more

I have been a parishioner/parent of St. Gertrude the Great for over 3 years now. I'm truly, amazed at how the school has evolved, and strengthened itself. From having a Principal, Ms. Flock whom is so great in every aspect to the dedicated teachers. Mrs. Golchuck (TK teacher) really, left an impression on my daughter and I. She is so, detailed and involved with all aspects of really living a catholic faith. Also, the St. Gertrude the Great community, is continuing to grow. All parents know and are involved. Which make it a great experience for kids, to grow in. Not to mention, the Technology aspect of the school that identifies the strengths and weakness of every child is unique, its really the cherry on top. WORST SCHOOL EVER!!! My daughter currently attends the school. She has never been so depressed and eager to change schools. My daughter told the teacher about being picked on by her classmates, but he didn't do anything about it! He is too busy making friends with the rest of the students and parents. I have talked to him time after time, but he is all talk and doesn't do what he is suppose to as a teacher to support a student. Also, I have heard other parents say the academics is too hard, but to tell you the truth, it is not even close to what it should be. The school is going down and spiraling uncontrollably. I've been associated with St. Gertrude the Great for 20 plus years. My younger brother, niece, nephews and children have all attended and currently attend. We are proud to say that they have become part of our family. My son graduated 2 years ago and my 3 children are currently enrolled with 1 about to graduate in a couple of months. My youngest is enrolled in Transitional Kinder and his teacher Mrs. Marcie is incredible with the children and parents. My other son is in 2nd grade and will celebrate his first communion next month. I'm proud to say that my children have been honor roll students throughout their time here and I know it has a lot to do with the incredible teachers and staff. Both of my eldest were on Student Council and will leave St. Gertrude with great confidence thanks to the educators that have encouraged them along the way. I would definitely recommend this school to any family that is interested in a well rounded education that also encourages self confidence and religious studies. read more

Our family has been a part of the school community here since 1990, when I walked to kinder with my own over-sized backpack. Since then, my two sisters and I have graduated and my son now attends the school. I do not believe that I would be doing what I love today without the education I received at St. Gertrude.
