Great bakery! Grab and go with some seating. They also serve sandwiches. Really like their cinnamon apple cake. We came at 3pm on a Friday but many things were sold out, which is a good sign! Will be back again to try more items.

I have had this bakery in my bucket list for a while. I finally had time to stop in. The man, maybe the owner-showed me what to do. You grab a basket with tongs and put what you want in the basket and then go to the register and check out. What a great idea. Everything I purchase was delicious, with the exception of one-it was coated with some kind of icing and the roll was too dense for my liking. The cinnamon roll was the winner for me. The pizza roll and the strawberry croissant were very good as well. They also sell iced coffees, desserts, and sandwiches. They have won me over. Great job. I am looking towards my next visit. Pros:great bakery items, great customer service and cool basket concept. Cons: small parking lot and I got there about the same time the elementary school was letting out. The traffic was heavy. Recommend:YES

This was my first visit to St Gabriel Bakery. I was picking up a TooGoodToGo order where food spots sell off inventory as surprise bags at a discount just before closing time. The customer service was outstanding - the employee asked me if I had any food allergies and went over each pastry in my bag. Both of those things are not typical for a TGTG experience & definitely not required or to be expected. I've only eaten two of the five pastries so far but am happy to report that both are excellent! I will definitely be returning as a regular customer.

I stopped by St. Gabriel on a Saturday afternoon and was excited to bring my Guatemalan boyfriend here to try some authentic treats he's been searching for around Jacksonville over the past year. We were greeted warmly and even given a quick tour of the bakery. The space is beautifully decorated, and when I asked about it, the owner shared that his mother actually made all of the decorations for the shop, which I thought was a really special touch. After looking around, I ordered a fresh strawberry blackberry smoothie and the burrata caprese open-face sandwich--both were delicious. The smoothie was also surprisingly large, which I appreciated since I took it to go and enjoyed it on the drive home. My boyfriend ordered the roast beef sandwich, and we decided to sit by the window and eat there. He also tried the strawberry lemonade, which had fresh strawberry pieces in it and was really refreshing. Before leaving, we picked up a bag of baked goods to bring home for his family as well. I felt as though the prices were very reasonable here which is much appreciated in this economy. Most local bakeries are a little on the high side - not this one. Overall, it was a great first visit and I'd happily come back again.

Such a gem The pastries and food we got were delicious and you can tell how fresh they are. The bakers and owner are so passionate about what they do and this bakery. Just take my word for it and go and try everything you can get with your money lol!

I tried the Spanish Foccaccia and it is out of this world! This place is a gem, somebody really knows how to bake:) definitely returning to load up for guests and holidays. The people here are also so incredibly friendly!

There is no surprise that this place rates high on the yelp reviews list. Though I haven't had the pleasure of trying a sandwich yet, I stop in often so pick up baked goods. My absolutely favorite is the jalapeño cheddar sourdough load. It's crunchy on the outside, soft and delicate on the inside. Best local sourdough I've had. The setup is delightful. The shop has baskets and tongs that you use to select your items and then they package the items from your basket. The concern is just adorable. Being from CA, this place reminds me of home. The baked goods are delicious with coffee and every time I visit I try something new. Lastly, the family that owns it is so sweet and inviting. I'm glad to see them busy.

A month later, we came back, and once again, this bakery did not disappoint. The cases were filled with the most delicious-looking breads, and we ended up sitting in the car with the windows down, enjoying the beautiful weather while sampling a few treats before taking the rest home. This time we tried their campechas, pan de manteca, a volován, a lemon muffin, a pumpkin muffin, and their incredible banana pudding. The sweet gentleman behind the counter told me his mother makes the pudding, and she is clearly gifted. It might honestly be the best banana pudding I've ever had. I'm so grateful this bakery is close to our dog groomer, because it's quickly becoming our little monthly tradition. We left with a bag full of goodies and happy hearts. I truly cannot recommend this place enough.

A truly hidden gem of a bakery. St Gabriel is a Guatemalan Bakery and is family run and owned by hard working people. I visited this place around March of this year where I discovered they were celebrating their 1 Year Anniversary. I wish them many more blessed years to come. Walking inside this bakery, your nostrils and senses are greeted by the aroma of fresh baked goods. It smells so good. And from what I understand, they start baking as early as 4am daily. Each time we have visited this place, we try to at least order or try different items on display. And we have yet to leave disappointed. Come and see for yourself. Ask for the friendly face of Sebastian (part owner).

Delightful experience. I was looking for some fresh Italian rolls to make the Italian beef sandwiches with. The two prior stops, which claimed to be bakeries, were more like coffee shops with pastries. I stumbled across this place and was quite pleased with the quality of service and the rolls I took home to complete my dish. Nice small place that I believe is overlooked.

What a lovely lunch date! The shop is quaint and cozy, but full of delicious fresh pastries and breads. We ordered two sandwiches, roast beef and a turkey for the kids to share. Both were very yummy, even for my picky eaters. The lemonades are fresh and also delightful! I really loved the exceptional customer service, we were given recommendations and were check up on several times which was appreciated. Don't forget to get the tres leches or any of the sweet baked items. Can't go wrong with any item you choose here!

This place is definitely worth the hype! Absolutely outstanding customer service. Both the bakery items and burrata toast I got were delicious. It's hard to hold yourself back in here and not fill your basket with everything you see. It is a small place and could easily expand in the future but it adds to the cozy home bakery vibes. Absolutely worth a stop!

So much charm in such a small space! You'll find this place right across from San Jose Elementary. We were immediately greeted upon entry and provided a quick tour of Al the options, sweet and savory alike! When you come, grab a basket and tongs at the entrance and stuff it full of all your likings before heading up to the register to add on other orders for things like Sandwiches and drinks.

It was good, and had more whipped cream in it than the one I'm used to, but I've probably had slightly better examples. For $6, it's not a great value: smaller than the cinnamon roll and not as good. I might get it again, but probably not at that price. This remains one of my favorite bakeries in town, and we'll be back periodically. Update: We tried another cinnamon roll. The next morning, we had the sausage and scallion bun at home. I liked it, maybe more than the pork bun, and would get it again, though it had the advantage of being reheated at home in the microwave. Each item was $3-3.25, so a better value than the other bakeries I go to. I will return to this place periodically, but I still prefer places like Cruffin & Tea and Le Petit Paris, so I'm giving Mai Xiang Garden Bakery an average rating, 3 stars: pretty good, but not above average for a bakery, other than the good value.
