TERRIBLE If I could rate this place one star I would. I brought my dog here who had a tumor and they told me he was in perfect health it didn't need to be removed and a few months later he passed away. I later brought my cat there for a neuter (which was a bad decision). Everything was fine at the first appointment with bloodwork and shots, but when I brought him back for the neuter they tried to charge me again for the previous appointments work. When I refused to pay again, they refused to give me my cat and said they would call the police. This was in June I just got a letter in the mail today August saying my family is no longer welcome to bring our pets to this vet. Complete A-holes. They overcharge and try to charge multiple times. For my dogs bloodwork and an ear cleaning it was over $400 and my cats neuter was over $500. Worst vet. Don't recommend

I came up for the summer of 2017, and the tuck season was tick season was terrible here. So I set up a appointment to have my dog vaccinated against Lyme disease and learned that a month later a booster was needed. That was beyond our trip and the vet assistant was nice enough to recommend some topical tick protection and not waste out time with a shot that wouldn't have been complete. Other vets would have done it knowing we could not do the follow up booster.

This place isn't the most aesthetically appealing environment, but the staff and the service make up for it. I've been coming here for about 10 years and the staff has always been courteous, friendly, professional, and most importantly helpful. If you have any questions, you can always call here and they give you an honest answer. If it's something they don't feel you need to see a vet for, they have no problem telling you to save your money and they offer home remedies or advice depending on the situation. I have a very friendly and loving cat that lets anyone pick him up and he even takes a nice warm bath bimonthly. But whenever he gets to the vet he turns into a little demon and has often defecated or peed himself. Even with his bad temper, the staff has always been able to manage him and give him his shots or give him a check up. I truly appreciate that because I know it's not easy for them. I've brought him to other vets and they've literally had to sedate him to check him and I hated that they had to do this to my little guy. Not to mention, it cost me an additional $100. The veterinarian is always patient, thorough, and friendly. I feel comfortable bringing my cat here because I know they care and take good care of their clients.

Princess, a tad bit unhappy with her service!

I did not have a personal interaction with her but she made a very neglectful decision on a matter involving my pets medical care . My dog was prescribed ear drops, but the vet tech did not attach the correct tip when administering them in the office, which resulted in about 75% of the medication being lost. I didn't realize until I got home that the bottle was almost empty. When I called, the situation was not handled well by her and the explanation given by the tech did not match what happened. After spending nearly $500 at the visit, it was frustrating to feel like Dr Tsavera's solution was not that the office replace them rather I can buy more . That insinuates I am at fault . Why should I pay for another bottle ? I never used the first bottle prescribed only the tech did in the office and it was almost empty when I took it out of the box at my house and opened it. She was unwilling to allow the office to take any means of responsibility or hold staff accountable . She shifted blame and automatically pointed fault at the customer. I stated if this was not handled with consideration and fairness I would no longer bring my dog there . She was satisfied with loosing a patient over 40$ ear drops . She also was aware there was not enough drops for my dogs ear infection due to the tech mishandling them . That alone proves who is behind this business a cold and dismissive heart does not belong in this business ! Shane, the office manager, was wonderful--kind, helpful, and understanding. Dr. Magee at this practice is wonderful as well ! However, Dr. Alina Tsavera was nothing short of a nightmare !

Although I am a physician I am not familiar with this procedure in canines, but apparently open incisions are used to cut into the bladder for stone removal. My. Baby girl was discharged in howling pain, which was traumatic for my sister who had retrieved her. She had to return her to demand appropriate pain management for the dog as she was only given gabapentin and Rimadyl (doggie Advil). Even women who have cesarean sections are given strong analgesia for at least 3 days postoperatively. My baby suffered for days. I called the office the following day to get information regarding her diet going forward, as bladder stones can definitely recur. Not only was I not given any information, but I was merely switched to another person who just asked for my financials to make payment for the "extra (much needed) meds." I was given a generic receipt, so my insurance denied the payment, and I was NEVER given the invoice for the surgery, which was almost 3k and paid in full up front. I sent an email requesting the invoice, and to date they refused to respond, so I will not be able to submit for the reimbursement. When my son called the office he was told that they "didn't know" about the insurance- even though it is on file. Although they claim they will submit, I don't have much faith that they will. Further, why was this not handled from the beginning before they tortured my baby? If a human patient is treated this way there are patient advocates & lawyers promptly involved. I guess things are different in Veterinary Medicine.... But animals deserve compassionate care, too. Some people love their pets more than their spouses. In addition, pet parents should be counseled regarding the operative course, what to expect, and how to manage their pets post-operatively at home. My family, and especially my dog, were traumatized by this experience. This vet got good reviews on Yelp for some reason; maybe they are acceptable for routine well care visits and minor illnesses. But if you have a pet with serious illness or require invasive or surgical intervention I encourage you to seek another Veterinary practice.

Faest forward 13 years later, same pug had a bladder full of stones. Horrible to watch how he suffered. Dr Joshi removed the stones, cleaned and removed some bad teeth, and removed a cancerous tumor. Since the pug was at high-risk of a throat collapse, giving him anesthesia was very risky..once again my pug was at death's door and Dr Joshi brought him back. Pug is doing wonderful. My cat Gary, now 15 years old, had a major infection in his gums. Again, Dr Joshi agreed to try surgery. Gary had to be on life support. This is a rather small place; a trailer so to speak with super cute cats of all sizes and ages. When I first walked in, I was greeted by 2 very nice ladies that was extremely helpful and patient while I looked around at all of the cats. They will ask you if you have any pets and if you do- they will ask about their personalities. The one cool thing I liked about this place is that they let the cats walk around and allow you to play with them and hold them to get a feel for your future potential fur baby. They (the ladies) weren't pushy and was genuinely interested in getting to know who would be adopting those cats. One of the ladies even took me next door to show me another cat that might be a great companion for my cat that I have at home. They also have dogs here for adoption as well although very minimal. There is plenty of parking however when you come in drive very slow since there may be cats walking around. Overall, I would recommend adopting from here as you can tell the staff really cares about the pets. Although I didn't adopt today- I could totally see myself coming back as there were a few cats that I really liked.

But today Dr. Povol and Mammas saved my boy's life. It started last night when WWD (world's worst dog) found a hole into the crawl space under the deck and came out with a rib bone from God only knows where or when. After a protracted tug of war this 3 legged brat looked me right in the eye, yanked his head so I lost my grip and gave a cartoonish GULP and swallowed that bone. Efforts to make him vomit from hydrogen peroxide were a threat to my life and limbs so we trekked off to VEG urgent care in Millburn at 11 pm. They were super nice and got him to vomit up a whole can of food but the bone stayed stuck in his stomach. After much discussion I chose to bring him home for the night because if he did need surgery I knew it would be twice as expensive at an ER facility. I called Dr. Povol at 8 am and they got us right in; 2 hours later Able was in surgery. The whole staff has been exceptionally kind and thorough, keeping me posted throughout the day and calling to check in once I got Able home. The surgery was about $2800 total which I know from experience is more than fair. He's got a belly full of sutures and is sleeping it off but he will be just fine, soon to continue his reign of terror. From last year: I'm on an extended visit with my family in Bayonne and one of my dogs got an eye infection. I've lived in Los Angeles for 25 years where we have truly human-grade medical care for pets so I wasn't sure what to expect in Bayonne. Wow was I impressed. This is a wonderful hospital. We got a same-day appointment which was really nice of them because they were busy. Every single staff member was kind and courteous and caring and professional. Once we got into the exam room we had to wait about 20 minutes and the super-nice tech came in to apologize and explain they'd had an emergency. I certainly understood and didn't care, but not every place bothers to explain what's going on. Dr. Povol came in and I loved him. He was incredibly thorough, explained everything. I saw another review where he was described as no-nonsense and I'd basically agree but he's kind and was laughing at the ridiculous histrionics of my other dog who was crying because he wasn't getting all the attention (!). I will absolutely return, my other dog can get cold laser treatments on his back and needs a dental. On top of everything else, the bill was a fraction of what I would pay in LA or at other hospitals around here. They even have their own garage for parking! Worth every penny and I recommend this hospital with 5 glowing stars. I came here because of the great reviews; there were some negative ones on Yelp that were from 2-4 years ago and they DO NOT reflect the experience I had. You will always find someone who had a terrible experience and write a review. Most times when people are happy they just go about their business, but when people are upset they are quick to post a review. I TOTALLY recommend this hospital.
