I brought in a 6-year-old unneutered stray who violently attacked me (requiring a state-mandated 10-day rabies hold) and was terrorizing local colony cats. Because I applied a calming collar to suppress his severe, testosterone-driven aggression during the 10-day rabies hold--protecting myself, my colony, and clinic technicians during intake--PFA arbitrarily used this safety measure to reclassify a dangerous street cat as a "Pet." After intake, staff called me over the phone and essentially held the surgery hostage--demanding an extra $67 or threatening to hand an aggressive 6-year-old unneutered cat back to me. When I questioned this, I was treated like a Fraudster/Scammer/Flight Risk trying to dodge fees despite my history of bringing in multiple strays. I am far from the only caretaker experiencing this--other multi-year volunteers have reported identical surprise upcharges and hostile treatment. By threatening to hand back unneutered, aggressive street cats over an arbitrary $67 fee, PFA is prioritizing revenue while actively undermining the entire mission of community TNR. I sent a documented appeal detailing this billing misclassification to the Executive Director and all 5 Board members. Not a single board member or administrator responded. The 3 stars are strictly for the medical team (1 star for each of the 3 strays I've brought here who survived surgery). But administratively, PFA is penalizing caretakers who spend their own money to fix community cats. If distance wise you have to utilize their services, I advise going through a rescue mediator or voucher program to avoid them nickel and diming you in person and over the phone. Take your homeless, stray, feral, and personal pet cats to Whiskers Rescue instead for compassionate, grant-backed spay/neuter care!

I do NOT recommend this clinic…read more I brought my dog, Gucci, in for a surgical procedure on 24th of February and what followed was one of the most stressful and upsetting experiences I've ever had! At discharge, I was told that sutures and surgical glue were used and that everything was secure. I trusted that information and brought my dog home believing he would heal properly. He cried nonstop the entire ride home and continued crying for two days straight. I couldn't even sleep because of how much he was suffering. Just a few days later, on February 28, his incision completely opened and began bleeding heavily. I could actually see inside the wound. On top of that, he was struggling to breathe. It was terrifying. I had no choice but to rush him to an emergency Trumbull Veterinary Hospital, where they had to properly suture the wound and stabilize him with additional treatment and medication. This resulted in significant, unexpected expenses that should have never happened if the original procedure had been done correctly. To make matters worse, I noticed scratches near his private area and called the clinic. I was dismissed and told it was probably razor burn, but it looked like careless cuts. My dog was in extreme pain. Now my service dog has anxiety due to this malpractice. I followed all post-op instructions carefully, so there is no excuse for the wound reopening like that. (no he did not lick his wound because he had his cone and prevented him from getting there) This situation caused serious physical harm to my dog and emotional distress for both of us. Based on my experience, I strongly believe there was a lack of proper care and professionalism. I would not trust this clinic with any animals again. I will be filing a formal complaint.
