I've had my Boston Terrier Walcott for 3 1/2 years through a myriad of health problems that they are prone to. Dr. Tucker and her staff have been with us from the beginning, every step of the way. She's extremely patient, caring, and most importantly expertly knowledgeable in her field. From patella luxations to tummy troubles I know Walcott is in not good, but great hands and that he'll get all the right care from a technical and human standpoint. Just this week, he had back pains which caused him to tremble and move gingerly. After taking all the possible steps to diagnose him, she discovered he had 3 compressed discs. After taking anti-inflammatories and a couple of amazing laser therapy sessions, he's come around a full 180 back to the happy care-free rascal I love. I'm always 100% confident that my pups will have the best possible care and treatment - a feeling that's absolutely priceless. read more

I urge everyone to read the reviews on this clinic before taking their pet to see Dr. Tucker. I wish I had, and now it's too late. We moved to the area in late 2025 and, on the recommendation of someone, took our much-loved elderly dog (12 years old) to sign up. It's a quirky set-up, in an old purple Victorian 'Addams Family' style house, and you feel like you are in someone's living room. Weird but I didn't mind that. Dr Tucker seemed friendly and kind, and all seemed well. I thought it was expensive, but we are new to the country (from Australia), and all healthcare is expensive in the US, right? Before I go on the rest, I'd like to say that the reception staff here are lovely, polite and professional - I have no issue with them. We noticed our dog was peeing a lot and there was blood in her pee. Dr. Tucker took urine tests twice over 3 weeks ($350). Results were: nothing sinister, and were sent home with Vitamin K tablets (and still no clue as to why?). The issue continued - the blood cleared up, but the constant peeing got worse. In July she was showing some incontinence and the blood returned with a vengeance. More urine tests ($650 for those alone), an X-ray, and blood tests (or so we thought, but they didn't happen), and we were sent home with antibiotics. A week later, Dr Tucker called with the words "It's good news, it's not cancer, come back if she gets any worse". Well, she did, and we decided to take her to another vet, who, within 10 minutes, took an ultrasound that showed a 3cm x 2 cm tumour on her bladder. A further specialised test showed a definitive diagnosis of Transitional Cell Carcinoma, an aggressive and devastating cancer NOT uncommon in dogs and cats. 6 months after first symptoms, it is too late to help her; we can only give her pain relief and enjoy our last weeks, or even days, we have left with her. We spent $2000 over 3 visits with Dr Tucker who repeated the same tests and did not even suggest there was such a thing as TCC - She did suggest an ultrasound in our last visit and we agreed to wait for the test results - but when we heard "good news, it's not cancer" she did not urge an ultrasound, and how were we to know that TCC existed? Less than a week later, we spent $550 on one consultation and a specific test needed for the diagnosis. When I called Dr Tucker to tell her the news and to ask why she hadn't even considered this 'common cancer' (for which my dog had ALL the symptoms) that doesn't always show up in regular cytology urine tests, all she said was, "Well, I'm sorry you are sad, and I'm sorry your dog has cancer." I get that the outcome of cancer was not Dr. Tucker's fault, but this slack and lazy approach, without looking at ALL the possibilities, has caused our dog pain and suffering for more than 6 months, which could have been avoided, and has denied us the option of giving her treatment when the tumour was small enough to be treated. After 12 years of the best veterinary care from our previous vet, this has been devastating. BUYER BEWARE. Let me start off - my very 1st call with calling and making an appointment for my GrandDog. Anaís is AAAWWWWSOME People person - she listens and was able to fit me in the schedule. Came in with Niko and as I walked in- my grandDog felt very comfortable - soon as we met Dr Tucker he instantly gravitated towards and she was like a dog whisperer. I explained to her my situation with having to ship my dog to its original owner AKA my daughter. She informed me that the airlines are going to require certain documents and let me tell you- YUP! I instantly just fell in love with her and the whole entire staff. Melissa was so sweet to me and they all listened to everything I had to say regarding documentations required to ship a dog. I just recently started going to this vet and I am thrilled. she is less expensive and far more responsive than my last vet. my FIV+ rescue cat has bad teeth and my other vet just gave him antiobiotic shots when he got really sick and sent us home. Dr Tucker suggested extracting his upper canine teeth (turns out roots were disintegrating) -which she did herself-not referring me to some specialist an hour away- and then needed 3 (quick and painless) UVL laser treatments to speed healing and reduce inflammation. he's acting like a kitten again! poor thing must have been in chronic pain. staff is friendly and welcoming. I once had to wait a while (there's coffee, water and I think snacks in the waiting room) but Dr. Tucker came out herself to apologize due to an emergency she was dealing with. So glad I found her!!! read more

We've been going to Dr. Tucker for years and I must say she is a wonderful doctor. She's very caring and loving and patient and kind. She's one of the best veterinarians on the planet. My dog has been coming here since he was 4 months old he is now over 3 years old and I love this vet clinic. I used to live in Elizabeth NJ but had to move to California. The staff here are very professional and welcoming. The Veterinarian here is professional and serious when it comes to animals health very passionate about animals. And yes I still bring my dog here. Unless it's an emergency situation less than 24 hrs and I have to find a vet on the west coast, I book a fight back and forth from California to NJ just to take him to this veterinary clinic. It might seem crazy but they are the best and my dog is worth it. A lot of ppl think I'm lying until they see my boarding passes. read more

Wait times even with appointment are horrible, expect to wait approximately 30 minutes minimum after your appointment time. Prices are high and they try and get every dollar from you on each visit by running or suggesting unnecessary tests and exams. My puppy is 5 months old barely and they wanted to run a heart-worm test just to approve for me to purchase heart-worm from elsewhere. Yet they gave us a free trial without tests. Doesn't seem right to me. I now go to Roselle Park Animal Hospital For better prices on shots and office visits. read more

The doctor here is a crook. It's obvious why this veterinarian decided to work with animals, as her bedside manor with humans is complete trash. Very unfriendly woman. I recently moved into the area and have been taking my Pekingese there for his shots, as we got him when he was 8 weeks old. I quickly realized there were more affordable places to go for routine vaccines. However, one day in particular, I noticed my puppy was constipated and his energetic demeanor changed. After a day of this, I tried to feed him milk to force him to use the bathroom but once he throw the milk up, I decided to take him to the vet that afternoon. I went there stressed out that my puppy was sad and not his normal self. The vet preyed on my emotions and robbed me blind. I informed her he was constipated and has me worried because he's been extremely mopey the last two days and that was unusual. She took his temperature and everything was normal, but then she looked at him and said it appears like he's breathing irregular. Her next words were, we're going to have to take him overnight and monitor him. You can talk to our receptionist at the front desk about pricing. Obviously I'm scared and freaked out. I didn't notice anything "irregular" about his breathing, nor did I think it was that serious to house him overnight for anything. The front desk staff then went to the back to discuss the matter with the vet. I was then told I'd have to pay them $700, right then and there, to treat my puppy or take him back. So after this vet tells me my dog is breathing weird, my options are basically to pay $700 now or let him die. I didn't know any better and paid thinking she's about to save my dog's life. Fast forward a few hours later, my fiancé and I get a call stating they did some blood work and took xrays and saw something unusual my puppy may have swallowed. It's still in his stomach, but they want to monitor it. Fast forward to the next day, we get a call stating that my puppy refused to eat while there, but they're going to give him something to make him use the bathroom and continue monitoring whatever they think they see. A few xrays later, whatever my dog swallowed finally started moving. My fiancé goes to pick him up and they show him an xray of what appears to be something in his belly the size of a pebble. **Insert side eye** So we pick up my dog and have to then pay AN ADDITIONAL $300+ dollars for some reason. Everyone, please keep in mind.... at this point THE VET HAS DONE NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. We were charged for multiple xrays of BS. When we took my dog home, you can tell he was so happy to get out of that place. None the less, it still took another day after having him home for our dog to have a bowel movement, so the vet clearly did nothing but collect a big fat check from us because we were scared. My fiancé and I definitely learned our lesson the hard way. This vet is an absolute crook. And we will NEVER take our animals there or give any referrals for this place. After the fact, I spoke with multiple friends who were in similar situations and have family has vets. I was advised that an ethical veterinarian would never have behaved this way. A simple xray would have sufficed and then we would have been advised to take him home to with some mineral oil or whatever. My friend once had her dog's airway closed up because he was choking, then went to an emergency clinic to clear it and only paid $600. Clearly I was robbed. Having a sick pet is a very stressful experience, especially when you've cared for your pet for most of its lifetime. When my poor kitty Rhino began to experience some really rancid breath along with some possible ear issues, I brought him here to have him checked out and to get his immunizations taken care of. Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic (EVC for short for the rest of this review) is inside an old house in the area. it's an impressive house that's purple in color, making it quite distinctive. It's definitely a classic home. The wood creaks a bit when you step inside the first floor, but it's very welcoming with a waiting area in the front and an exam area in the back. A couple cats and a bird may even greet you, all super friendly and adorable. Dr. Eileen Tucker is very good with animals. She manages to balance professionalism with caring and a pleasant nature. This is a hard combination to strike for any health care professional and she does it well. When she took care of my Rhino, she was mostly concerned with his well-being, despite my concerns about affording her services. When the bill came out to more than I expected, she worked out a payment plan for me and I was very appreciative. Even after Rhino came home (in tip top shape!) I was given some great advice from the clinic when I made some follow up calls. I plan on continuing to bring Rhino to EVC for his care knowing he will be taken care of properly during his stays. read more

Awkward set up with long wait times. They really do try to get as much money out of you that they can. I brought my newborn pup there for an ear issue and the vet wanted to do a ton of other tests and start vaccinations. With this being my second pup I was aware that vaccinations need to start at 6 months, otherwise they're not effective or may have a negative effect on such a weak/developing newborn. I also had to remind the vet what I was there for because she kept wanting to go off on other things. When she finally looked in my puppy's ear and grabbed it so hard my puppies front paws were off the table. Ouch She also put a cleaning solution in my dogs ear that my dog shook out and it ended up all over me. Unsanitary and smelly place. Don't take your pets here. read more

I have been using Dr. Tucker since we got our dog almost 8 years ago. It's very obvious that she loves dogs and cats. I really can't say anything bad about the level of care we've received. My dog loves her! My one complaint is that I feel like I pay for things my dog really doesn't need at nearly every visit. My dog doesn't go anywhere to be exposed to lymes disease, but they always want to vaccinate her for that, and the flu, and who knows what else. Also, I was just there in December because she needed a distemper shot, and now, hardly 8 weeks later, I have to take her back because her bordatella is due. Not a problem if I could just take her in and get the shot, but every time you walk thru the door there's a $42.00 visit fee. Couldn't she have gotten that shot in December so I could have just paid one visit fee?? I'm a business owner, so i know that they're trying run a profitable business, but if you treat your customers right, they'll keep coming and tell other people about you too. Don't keep "upselling" like you're a fast food restaurant. No, I DON"T want fries with that! read more

I went to the location after moving to the area. Read the reviews but did not pay much attention to the dates of the review (which are important, quit frankly) It was easy to find and the staff were okay. Nothing really amazing to say. I felt that they fed off my emotions when it came to running test because I was told me 13yr old was going to die and, of course, I would do whatever I need to in order to help her. Long story short, they charged me for 133$ for 3 xrays, went on and took one more Xray and charged me 105$ (interesting, huh?) After discussing my 700$ invoice for the diagnosis, the DR was still unable to tell me what was wrong with my fur baby. My partner called the office to get more information and they never returned his call although they said they would have. I decided to get a 2nd opinion; I was told to let her live as she please because, contrary to what Dr. Tucker told me, she's not in pain. Will I go back? Her bedside manner is atrocious, the set up is weird in the office. I realize it's a restored Victorian home (purple I might add) but I don't want strangers within earshot while I'm discussing anything personal. There's no sheet, no door, just you and your pet standing while the vet sits. She's not helpful or very sympathetic. I brought my one year old Boston Terrier in because it looked like she had an anal sac abscess. I didn't tell the vet initially because I wanted her to notice and tell ME what it was. She started talking about shots and other things that were needed and never mentioned the abscess. As soon as I pointed it out, she got giddy talking about an immediate surgery that would run me $1000. I wasn't comfortable putting my baby under anesthesia because I wasn't sure if she had eaten in the required time span and they wanted me to sign a waiver in case she died! Once I said I was opting out of the surgery, they basically rushed me out. I asked would she still clip my baby's nails, which she had offered to do for free if I consented to the surgery. She did only the front two paws like she was a cat and charged me $15! plus office visit, heart worm test (which I had to call back to get the status of) and distemper shot. I purchased black seed oil treats for $12 on amazon and less than a month later, my little girl is perfect! Dr Tucker is a crook and quite possibly a racist. read more

Yesterday my best pal Willie, my chocolate lab, became Wilhelmina at the Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic. Willie was neutered. Dr Tucker and her staff has , once again, provided competent, professional, and caring canine medical service. Not only did they make the procedure tolerable to Willie, they made me at ease. Willie survived the ordeal and soon will be his frisky self once again. From the warm friendly home like office atmosphere to the competent caring staff EVC is a cut above the rest. I took my dog to Elizabeth Veternary Clinic today. I stopped going to this vet. About 6 months ago because that stared to charge extra percentages for using credit or debit cards. They want you to pay cash. Shady practices. So I have to agree that they try to inflate the bill , like a restaurant. Offering all kinds of services you don't need. So let's fast forward to my office visit. My dog needed his nails clipped. He is a medium size dog but does not allow anyone to cut his nails. So he was not too cooperative. It took 3 Vet. Techs to hold him down, she gave a little tranquilizer to calm him down. The Vet cut one of his nails to short causing him to bleed. (Bad Vet. ) , however my pooch got through it. The Vet. Charged me an arm and leg with My big toe removed. $91.00 for the shot and $33. To cut the nails (botched job). The she had the audacity to charge an additional $100.00 talking about an aggressive Animal visit. How would you feel if 3 strangers grabbed and was holding you down how docile would you be. The is the nature of the job, if you can't handle it, maybe she should be a Veterinarian for gold fish. At least it would be less stress for her. I admit, I was robbed today by Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic. It's Time to search for a more Competent veterinarian. This place gets zero stars... read more

Dr Tucker is a wonderful vet....we have been going there for around 15 years,,,she has done everything from spayings to emergency surgeries to leading us to specialists when our Georgie ruptured a vertebrae in his back and was paralyzed.(he is now fine)....we have total faith in her! read more

Interesting looking place. Large old purple victorian home. That helps it stand out because you can easily drive pass. I brought my dog here for the first time and the application process was painless which was nice and I was seen shortly thereafter. My biggest qualm was the vet. I tried talking to her about my pet and everything I mentioned she would tell me make it into a health issue that needed to be resolved. Some without merit. For example, when I mentioned that my dog got hit by a car over 10 years ago, she said that he should probably get surgery and that he probably has arthritis now. All this without even checking on him plus he didn't show any symptoms. Worse part is that when I told her I didn't think it was necessary, she said something like "your dog feels pain but is unable to tell you". WOW. Way to guilt someone without doing a full check up. Not cool. Vet came across as greedy and not genuine. Something funny: behind the receptionist desk there is a large sign that says "Be Nice or Leave". I should've taken that as a warning of their customer satisfaction. read more

Dr Tucker has been the vet to our two cats for about 8 years, and we love her. She listens when we talk about our cats' problems, provides responses that we can understand, all the while petting the cats to keep them calm. While I won't say they love Dr Tucker, we do! I never feel pushed into a procedure, service or product for the benefit of Dr Tucker over the cats. read more

Dr. Tucker and her staff are some of the most kind, caring and knowledgeable people we've come across in all of our experiences with vets. We brought our dog Penny to her after being attacked by another dog in the hopes that there was something, anything she could do to save our girl. I know that if it wasn't Dr. Tucker taking care of her, she never would've pulled through. Penny's injuries required multiple procedures and rounds of stem cell treatment. Dr. Tucker went above and beyond to help keep our costs down. Above all, what matters most to Dr. Tucker, is providing excellent care to animals. She's warm, friendly and very easy to talk to, which makes it easy for us pet-owners too. read more

My 11 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy several months ago, it's a progressive neurological disease that affects the spinal cord and a dogs ability to walk. It's very difficult to watch your dog suffer with DM when all of their cognitive functioning is still there. In June of 2015 Trigger's DM was progressing to the point where I was contemplating his quality of life due to his lack of mobility, his rear legs were sagging, knuckling of his feet, difficulty getting up, and partial incontinence. It was suggested to me to look into alternatives to try and help him. Acupuncture was mentioned so I thought to give a try, well it is 2 months later and I'm happy to say Trigger is doing well and managing the DM. He has weekly laser treatments and acupuncture sessions which have helped him manage this horrific disease and thrive in his golden years. We could have never done this without Dr. Tucker. She is very knowledgable with pain management and relief through acupuncture . If you describe a symptom she can focus on that area through the placement of the needles, her knowledge expertise is extremely profound . It is very unique to watch this process, the way my dog relaxes and of course the end result of him feeling better. Dr. Tucker and her staff at Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic are remarkable people, they have a true passion for animals , with a kind, loving and supportive approach.
