My daughter and I booked an appointment with Alessandra to get our hair done for my daughter's birthday. It was her first time at a salon and we have nothing but good things to say about Alessandra! Here are a few things we loved about our experience: 1. She called us ahead of time for a free consultation and asked us to send her pictures. 2. I was undecided about what I wanted and dealing with a haircut that was very poorly done from a different salon, so we discussed it further and she helped me choose the perfect cut and color to fix me up. 3. She made us feel so comfortable during the appointment, brought us cups of coffee, and made sure we had time to eat a quick lunch. 4. I was amazed at how she was able to bounce back and forth between my daughter and I as we played "musical chairs." I have been looking for years for a regular stylist that I can feel comfortable returning to, and I finally found her! My daughter says: "I love my new hair, and I was very comfortable and got exactly what I wanted. I was given her professional advice about taking care of the color and styling my hair. Scheduled an up-do, received a confirmation for a blowout, called back and was notified that their up-do hair stylist is no longer with them. Disappointed, I still had to take the appointment as it was the day before my event. Confirmed the price to be $55. While there I asked if there was any way to do a simple up-do. The stylist wasn't confident in her ability but said she would try. Then she charged me $85. The whole experience was half an hour and the style was not what I would have expected if it was a true updo... When I questioned the price she claimed she did an updo...not simply putting my hair in a bun. Overall the experience was not good and unprofessional. read more

I was lured into Heaven and Earth by their cute, red dutch-door (like my old horse barn) and nice window display. Definitely a girly-girls stop-in for St. Helena! I liked browsing thru their wide variety of products. Five stars so far.... My rating deduction is attributed to the following negatives: 1. The store is tiny and galley-like, but it feels more claustrophobic because they have SOooooo much merchandise. Everywhere. 2. The store has such diverse products that it feels kinda random: men's soaps next to lip balms near karma sutra oils and hair products. 3. There is so much good stuff that the randomness & overstuffed shelves makes customers miss products. Boo for me, $ lost for them. 4. Prices are skewed high. For instance- I bought a travel-sized Klorane dry shampoo for $10 vs $7.50 from Sephora and 3 hair no-pull elastics for $6 vs eight for $6 from Sephora. OPI nail polish- $13 vs $8 at CVS. 1 star rating for prices. Overall: cute store, good products & variety but lacks focus. Def needs reorganization of displays & product categories. Now a resident of SF I find myself making frequent trips to Napa just for my H&E fix. Danielle has been doing my hair for years. I can not trust anyone else. She is so kind and pleasant to be around. I had received a gift card and went to the shop to spend it. They told me that since the salon had been sold, they would not honor the gift card... even though they are using the same name and the previous owner is still working there as a stylist. They suggested I contact the previous owner and ask if she would honor it, but yet offered no assistance in getting a hold of her. She was probably standing there working while we were in the shop. The manicurist excused herself to move her car so she wouldn't get a ticket and came back about 7 minutes later. The pedi polish job was a "B" and she didn't have a buffer for my finger nails, for which she gave be a $5 discount on a $35. manicure. I came in with a light brown to blonde balayage looking for a full head of blonde highlights. I showed my stylist multiple photos and she said it would be no problem. My appointment was at 11 o'clock and when about 2 rolled around she shampood and blow dried my hair. I was shocked when I turned around and saw very choppy highlights and immediately expressed my concern and asked her to repair it. She put a brown dye in my roots in hope to mask the choppy blonde and let me sit there for around half an hour to work on another client. She once again washed and blow dried my hair and I was left with dark roots with still blonde choppy highlights penetrating through. I ended up in the salon for 5 hours down $180 and extremely disappointed with my hair. She offered me to come back the next day for a fix but I will be taking my business elsewhere. I came here on a mission to find some lipstick to add to my collection. I know that Napa Valley does not have a lot of well-stocked cosmetic stores, but the reviews from other Yelpers does not disappoint! I walked down Main Street and found this darling little store stocked with lotions, soaps, shampoos, makeup, blush, lipsticks from wall to wall. I was impressed (easily) by the colorful displays and cute arrangements. I was greeted some several young girls who were casual enough to leave me alone, but quick enough to ask me if I needed help. "I'm looking for lipstick", is all I had to say for the girl to help me find my perfect color. Together, she helped me pick out several colors and gave me honest, non-patronizing opinions about the color on my face. The other girls would nod in unison. I like this store. This is a great place for men who have no clue what they are doing. As a Dad, I went in there and said, "hey I have this 14 year old..." They fixed my up with a great bag of goodies for my daughters birthday and she was delighted. Later when she asked to get her haircut, I suggested H & E and she was totally impressed and happy with her cut. Teresa Galvan, Who made the original appointment, also confirmed the appointment on the day of. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told that the person who was going to provide the services, named Jeanette, was not in today. The gentleman who helped me could not explain to me why an appointment had been made and confirmed for someone who wasn't even working that day. I've had other issues with this salon. I just wanted to sing the praise of Danielle & Jessica. Jessica did my hair for a wedding I was in on August 11th, and hear what I'm saying... It was EXACTLY what I wanted! I didn't hear: "Um, you don't have that kind of hair / your hair isn't long enough / short enough / curly enough / straight enough" I didn't come to her for a pre-planning, I just booked based on a recommendation from the shop owner, Sara. I came in with 2 photos and that was it. She did it in about 45 minutes and my hair held up for the next 10 hours. This is a review for bridal hair. Several months ago I decided to book myself (the bride) and my two bridesmaids with Danielle for our hair, after seeing the good reviews. Danielle was very sweet, don't get me wrong, but I am so glad I decided to come in for a hair trial instead of just coming the day of the wedding. First off, I had made my appt at 10am specifically to bypass wine tasting traffic. About a week or so before my appt, one of the girls from the salon called me asking if they could move my appt later to 12 because a bridal party wanted to come in, so I said fine. It took me 2 hours to get to my appt and I was a half hour late. The girls at the front desk said Danielle could now only give me a half hour since she had a client at 1. When I got into Danielle's chair I was so stressed out I started to cry! Danielle adjusted her next appt to come in later which was nice, but the girls at the front desk were totally unaccommodating. Now to my hair trial. I specifically told Danielle I did NOT want curly hair, yet she proceeded to curl my whole head. I ended up with a curly side pony tail looking hair style from the 90's. It was awful. Towards the end she tried one updo which looked even worse. So what did I end up walking out with? Curly, fried, hair. I didn't even leave with a hairstyle which is what I came in for. What made things even worse, was I was specifically told on the phone that the price is $65 for an hour, but since mine would likely rake more than an hour (which it didn't since I got kicked out of the chair right at 1:30 after sitting down at 12:30), that it would be $85. When I get to the front desk to pay, I am now told it is $120. When I argued that they said it was because Danielle did a bunch of different things to my hair and a few updos, which is bs, because all she did was curl it and put a couple bobby pins in. I was so upset and on the verge of tears that I just paid and ran out, but I really wish I would have fought that harder. I could have curled my own hair for free, but instead I wasted $120. If you are looking for a salon for your wedding day, do yourself a favor and look up Salon 360 in Calistoga. That is where I ended up going and it was the best decision I could have made because who knows what my hair might have looked like on my wedding day if I stuck with this salon. read more

Not only was Danielle not at the salon but did not answer any of the phone calls and emails the bride sent waiting outside the salon. Despite the fact that Danielle did a nice job on the demo run the week before, not showing up and answering the brides calls is extremely unprofessional and disappointing. read more

Make sure you get a price quote for anything you have done to your hair. I asked for a trim--no shampoo, no blow dry, nothing, and got charged $55. And it wasn't a very good trim. I have only good things to say about Heaven and Earth but my faith in them was solidified today. My daughter got over 40 bunch ems (look them up) stuck in her waist long hair. After hours of trying to remove them myself, I finally broke down and called the salon. Lissy has done amazing highlights for me in the past. Sarah is friendly and helpful and always makes me feel like family. They got my Lucy in within the hour and Gina Marksbury painstakingly removed the toys from her head. She was patient, kind, gentle and determined. Really I thought we would have shave one half of my six year olds head ala Skillrex. At the end she only charged me $10 for her time and effort. I was truly impressed by her and will continue to be a customer. The women who work here really know what they are doing. read more

If I could rate ZERO stars, I would do so! I was one of the bridesmaids in the wedding on 5/11/14 and Danielle FAILED to arrive to the salon to do the the bride's hair and makeup! The day of one's wedding can elicit plenty of stress/anxiety all on its own. Despite the natural stress this day brings, one's wedding day should be relaxing, peaceful, and NOT stressful if at all possible. Why? Because this is the day she has been waiting for her entire life. The bride was forced to deal with unimaginable amounts of stress and anxiety, thanks to DANIELLE. I applaud the bride for handling this undeserved situation on her wedding day with the utmost grace and calmness; us bridesmaids were stewing with frustration towards Danielle's highly unprofessional behavior. I am so sorry the bride had to experience this on her wedding day... The bride was robbed of the relaxing and carefree joys she should have experienced prior to her wedding. Danielle did a "dry run" on the bride's hair and makeup days leading up to the wedding. On Saturday 5/10/14, the bride received an automated email confirming her appointment with Danielle on Sunday 5/11/14 at 9am. On the day of the wedding, the bride and her mother eagerly awaited the arrival of Danielle to the salon, Heaven and Earth. After 20 minutes of waiting and 5 (FIVE!!) unanswered phone calls to Danielle (Danielle's voice mail box was FULL), the bride and mother had to quickly return to Angwin for a makeshift hair/wedding getup from her bridesmaids. This sent us four bridesmaids into a fury as we had "all hands on deck" to help the bride get ready for her wedding. Consequently, the bride arrived 2 hours late for pre-wedding pictures with her groom and us bridesmaids arrived 1 hour late for pre-wedding bridal party pictures. NOT OK. Needless to say, Danielle's supreme unprofessional-ism and irresponsibility was absolutely unimaginable. If you are booking an appointment with Danielle for a special event, please tread with caution... she is unreliable and can't be trusted. read more
