By the time kids and teachers get settled in, time has already passed so it makes sense to optimize the time by having longer periods. Sports were also great. Chaminade offers various sports to boys and girls. My son enjoyed football. It is a Catholic school which really only means that they take a religion class and there are masses for the various holidays but there are also many non-Catholic students there. The themes disussed in the religion classes vary from Old Testament to New Testament to STD education. The main "complaint" my son had was that many of the children starting in the ninth grade went to the Chaminade middle school so they already knew each other and this made it harder for him to make friends. Football helped him a lot with this problem but I still think it is ideal for a child to stay with the same group for middle school into high school. Finally, I am happy with this high school because my son did well on his SATs and I think that it can partially be attributed to Chaminade.

How we wish Egremont offered 6th grade. Our second son continues to attend Egremont School and will continue to do so until he graduates. With this review we aim to express our heartfelt appreciation to Tina Struve - Egremont's Principal. Ms. Struve not only leads with exceptional skill but also with compassion and dedication. We are forever grateful to Ms. Struve, faculty, security, and assistive personnel for creating a nurturing and secure environment where my sons have thrived academically and socially. Throughout the years we have formed lasting friendships that go beyond the school setting. We confidently recommend Egremont School to anyone seeking excellent elementary education for their children. Egremont's specialty classes are wonderful, my sons especially like technology, art, music, and musical theater. Egremont welcomes you as parents and families to be extremely involved in your children's elementary school years. As a family we can't wait to join the festivities: Camping Under the Stars, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Holiday Celebrations. We look forward to school productions such as the Winter Musical, Spring Productions and the Talent Show to name a few. The memories we have created as a family in Egremont will forever live in our hearts. We are familiar with surrounding schools and can guarantee you there is no school that can compare. At Egremont I have peace in mind that my sons are safe and well looked after. Egremont staff welcomes children by their name and ensure school grounds are beautifully maintained, the classrooms are bright, well - organized, and decorated with students' classwork, showcasing the children's learning journey. I asked my older son to share a few words, this is what he had to say: Thank you Ms. Struve and Egremont for everything you have taught me and done for me. I appreciate your kindness and for creating a welcoming feeling every day I walked into school. I felt appreciated and wanted. Almost everything I need to know about middle school was taught there. I hope that its amazing staff will be loved forever and that everything there stays as magical as it was when I went there. I don't think any school can match what Egremont has done for me. Egremont is a place where I can be happy.

Parking is really bad for those attending a football game as most of us visiting the football field had to park up a long hill, far from the field. No problem as I had to get additional steps in for my Fitbit but it was still as very long walk nonetheless. The field itself does not have a visitor side and a home side. All visitors sit on the same side of the field as the home fans which was definitely a first for many of us. I get it, there is a hill on the opposite side so seating on the west side of the field is impossible. The field is beautiful as is the baseball field asian to the football/soccer field. Nothing against the school itself. Simply offering my opinion of the field. When teams are battling at the opposite side of the field, it is very difficult to watch the game bcos everything is soooo far away. The visitors bleachers were sooo small that MANY fans were turned away. In this case, the early bird got the worm. Fun was still had by all and our team squeezed out a victory so life is good.

My students are high learners, high achievers and don't miss school straight A's. They know Spanish their givers their bright they listen they are wonderful children, but they did not get accepted. No, I'm not rich but education should be for all. It shouldn't be because you don't have millions of dollars that your child cannot be accepted. The school is a great I believe learning foundation for the children. Everyone seems to grow in prosper at the school and that's one of the reasons why I wanted my children to attend such a lovely prestigious school like Ciara, but I'm going to tell you if you are not rich, they will not accept your children. It's $150-175 application fee. If you wanna apply for financial aid is also extra $60 on top of that they will take your money but not accept you.

There are personal statements, short essays, 2 letters-if-rec (1 from current teacher & 1 from school principal), STAR test, transcripts, & interviews that are part of the entrance requirements process. In 2025, the middle school instituted an HONORS math placement testing option. The middle school does have honors algebra and geometry until the 8th grade. Mrs Mary Guerra is the head admissions person and she's absolutely amazing and wonderful. Mrs Lotta is also extremely helpful and resourceful. The head of the math department is Mrs Cheek. She's very strict, tough, & extremely helpful to students. Mrs. Sipping who teaches history and religion is both relatable & kind. It can be said that Chaminade isn't without bad teachers, as most schools will have plenty of those. Sports at Chaminade is a big thing because this is how the school and the students attract college & university scholarships. SJE school is one of the biggest feeder school to Chaminade. Just this year we sent 12 fifth graders & 4 eighth graders to Chaminade. So of course the students will know each other and hang out with each other. Chaminade middle school has an 8 House System, like Harry Potter, & this is where kids have a chance to make friends at all levels of the school. I can see and understand that if you start at the Chaminade high school level that it can be tough to adjust. However, if your kids start at the middle school, they will have adjusted and created a pattern of learning and achieving which will propel them in high school. I do recommend Chaminade without any reservations. There's so much to do here, starting at their middle school, that you can't even believe!!

Parents deserve to know about our experience before investing thousands of dollars in this school…read more One of determine factors and why we ultimately decided to enroll was because we were promised transportation from Santa Clarita to Chatsworth. Before the school year began, our initial point of contact, Mr. Jamie Leon disappeared from the process, and I was informed he no longer worked at the school. That should have been my first warning sign. When I contacted the school director, Mr. Rainey, regarding transportation, I was told he would look into it. After receiving no follow-up, I went to the office myself and was informed that transportation had fallen through. The solution offered was to connect me with other families so we could arrange transportation on our own. Thankfully, another Santa Clarita family had been given the same transportation promise, and together we managed to make it work. Had we not found each other, my son may not have been able to attend. The problems continued. I ordered approximately $200 worth of uniforms during orientation and never received them. I repeatedly followed up and was told the school would contact the uniform company and get back to me. That never happened, and my son never received the uniforms I paid for. Ironically, orientation emphasized an extremely strict uniform policy, which is why I spent the money in the first place. Yet for most of the school year, students wore whatever they wanted. Midyear, we were simply told students should at least wear polo shirts in school colors, forcing me to spend additional money on replacement clothing. We were also told there would be resources available on campus, including a sports medicine professional and a chiropractor to assist student-athletes. Throughout the year, my son never met either individual, and we never saw evidence that these services were actually being provided. Communication was consistently poor. I frequently had to initiate contact and send emails just to get basic updates. The school was very persuasive during the enrollment process, but many of the promises made before registration were never fulfilled. Academically, we were disappointed as well. During open house, one teacher spoke extensively about having multiple master's degrees. I was excited about what my son could learn from such an experienced educator, only to later hear that students were often told to simply use AI. The math teacher was reportedly known among students for sleeping during class, with students frequently taking photos of him napping or eating instead of teaching. From an athletics perspective, we were promised position-specific coaching and support for my son's football development. Unfortunately, the coach assigned to help him often appeared disengaged and spent much of his time on his phone. After concerns were raised, the coach was eventually fired and never adequately replaced. By the end of the year, I felt trapped. I had invested too much financially and did not want to disrupt my son's education by pulling him out and navigating homeschooling. Looking back, staying was a mistake. This school talks a great game during recruitment, but our experience was one of broken promises, poor communication, lack of organization, and unmet expectations. Parents should ask detailed questions, get everything in writing, and carefully evaluate whether the school is actually delivering what it advertises.

The average class size is about 20 with a 15:1 student-teacher ratio, versus 30-35 students and ratios in the high 20s elsewhere.
