Sadly we have been to a few different EDs in New Hampshire including The Elliot, CMC, Southern Nh and Saint Joseph's. Every ED has their challenges but by far they had the fast time through triage and to be seen by a provider. CMC wait time in the lobby was 5 hours to be triaged. And brought back for a bed, 2 more hours to see a provider. The Elliot their best time even with an ambulance was 8 hours. Saint Joes we typically get in within 3-4 hours worst case, and the providers have been great. Their patient care at Saint Joes has always been outstanding for us. They have always been thorough as well! Highly recommend! read more

I always receive top notch care when I go to this hospital. My primary care Dr. Ihab Ziada is one of the best doctors I have ever had. He cares for his patients and takes the time to listen before recommending. I also gave birth here and love the OBGYN team. Dr. Wasserman delivered 2 of my children and he also has great bedside manner. The Labor and Delivery team of nurses is top notch. Shout out to Tammy and Cyndi!! Wow, I just checked in and was awarded Dutchess! Something is wrong here. Thankfully I haven't had to be treated here myself, I have only come for a family member. The treatment team seems great, we have only had one ER doctor that treated his patients as if they were inconveniencing him and pushing us out of the ER quickly with us having to come back a couple of days later, requiring emergency surgery. He only doubted the competence of her PCP and quizzed her as to why the PCP didn't make certain medical decisions. A real class act. Doctor Abbis is the polar opposite of him, she is a great ER physician that truly seems to care for her patients. She actually listens to patients and makes a treatment plan without you feeling as if you're a spectator to your own illness. The billing department here is awful! And I am not rating this place on billing, just know that you will want to have some heart medication on you when your insurance and the hospital contacts you after any procedures. Everything.. patient care, meds are supposed to be every 4 hours . Going on 5 hours and still no medicine. Nobody's seems to know what they're doing. Yesterday I had endoscopy colonoscopy done at hospital. First the doctor and OR nurses were excellent. But hospital was overbooked so after woke up needed bathroom. I was feeling some pain but nurse informed me in bathroom my bed was given away needed to get dressed in bathroom leave. My husband complained I was not feeling good but still told bed gone given wheelchair to car. No paperwork was given to me to go home. This is unacceptable I will be looking for new hospital. read more

My husband got a serious, chronic diagnosis in the ER. The intake nurse made a sarcastic remark about one of his symptoms and they blocked me from being with him during triage. As a result, there ended up being a lot of mistakes in his health report. This is not a universal policy because I have been an ER patient at Southern NH Medical Center and my husband was with me the whole time in triage. My husband is not a native speaker of English and of course when your body is experiencing a life -threatening health situation it's harder to be lucid. I realize that the hospital had the right to implement whatever COVID policy they wanted, but I want them to know how damaging their policy was and I will never forgive them for that miserable separation time. Having religious roots, St. Joe's should know that family is an important component of healthcare. After my husband was admitted, I was able to sit with him while he was getting the diagnosis. I was ignored, and when I finally had the courage to speak up and ask for a review of the diagnosis, one of the providers curtly called out a repeat of the info from across the room. Then, when the staff had left the room for a while, my husband asked me to get him something to drink. I went to the nearest nurse station and asked the closest nurse for help and pointed to my husband's room; the nurse snapped at me that he couldn't do it because he wasn't assigned to my husband's case. On another, previous occasion, I checked in to the ER for what turned out to be severe anxiety; the provider examining me seemed bored and annoyed that I had bothered him for such a trivial issue. My wife was sent here for the Senior Behavioral Health Center at 4N, and I have to say, for the most part, OUTSTANDING SERVICE. A shout out to Sharon, the social worker, for going above and beyond at the time of her release. I gave her a lot of extra work and she rose to the occasion. Thank you very much, Sharon. My wife was in ICU (for pneumonia), then a regular room to recover, then the senior floor, and except for one issue, it was perfect. The one issue was that no one contacted me (the husband) when she changed rooms. One time, I showed up, and she wasn't in the ICU. The nurse was so upset I wasn't told she walked me to her room - so it wasn't that bad, but still. I would highly recommend St. Joe's in Nashua. No questions. read more

Mom's doc sent her there in an ambulance because of how alarmed he was at her symptoms. I understand that people can code and come in critical, but they put her in the hallway for 5 hours without monitoring her vitals or taking blood for labs and won't let me in because "there's no room in the hallway." Won't give fluids because she might have to go into surgery. Yet there are nurses sitting around drinking water, eating chips and talking. Go into the break room for gods sake, have some respect. read more

This is by far the worst hospital in the area. Went in the hospital do too chest pains and my blood pressure being through the roof. Literally sat here all night. It wasn't a busy night here got right out back into a room. The nurse come in put the finger monitor one me and left. My oxygen level was down to a 79 percent and my blood pressure was 189/115. The alarms are going off because my oxygen level is so low. Nobody came in the check no nurses no nothing for two hours. After that, they came in and gave me a pee test and they left it on the counter in my room all night long. Sent me for a chest X-ray went back to my room 4 hours later the doctor came in not knowing anything about what's going on. Looked at me and said he is going to send me for a chest X-ray. I laughed and said to look in my chart and he might find what he is looking for. So he had security kick me and my wife out. After all that time wasted he had us removed because they can't do their job and read the carts. Doctor Ming is incompetent of doing their job and reading charts. So no I spent all night here and now have to go to another hospital which I should have to begin with so I can get answers. This is the Worst hospital in southern NH. I recommend everybody go to Manchester where you have Catholic Medical Center or Elliot Hospital, which are far better hospitals then this place could ever be. read more

I went in for same day surgery, and the staff that took care of me were phenomenal. They were always smiling, and talking to me, making me feel comfortable. Normally I'm afraid of needles, but she put it in and I didn't even feel it. All the staff I've seen there that day, were hardworking and friendly. Oh, and I liked the card I received in the mail with get well wishes from my nurses. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I had a gouge in my wrist but got the bleeding under control. Waited in the ER for 3 and 1/2 hours. While waiting a gentleman came in with a gash in his head and was visibly bleeding even after the hospital put a gauze pad on it. He waited 2 hours and was still there when I walked out. A woman came in the same time I did, sounded like she had the croup and couldn't catch her breath. If these 2 patients weren't emergencies then I don't know what would be considered one. I came in through the ER, waited 4.5 hours. I have an issue with my left arm, numbness, pain and movement problem which could indicate nerve compression, torn rotator cuff and stretched or torn nerves. I believe I stretched it while trying to pull myself up stairs. Amazingly they have no neurologist so they do this virtually which is a disgrace. I would like an orthopedic shoulder doctor to look at me which is logical and they do not mention this to happen. In fact no one has even physically examined me. I have been admitted and do not understand why because they don't do anything relevant. They did a CAT scan of my arm and brain because they have no MRI available at night. To see peripheral nerve problems on a MRI you need a 3 Tesla machine, they don't have that either. All they seem to focus on is a stroke which I did not have (CAT scan of the head showed that) and they seem to be incapable of getting into their head that I have hurt my arm and shoulder. Do not come here if you have any kind of limb injury, they have no capabily to do anything. This is a dysfunctional hospital for the simpist things. read more

I felt the need to post a review after my same day surgical procedure today at St. Joe's. Every single person I encountered, coordinators, pre- and post-op nursing staff, covid lab testing services, front desk and surgical reception, anesthesia, and my attending physician/surgeon was so professional and kind. I had some pre-surgery questions and jitters and everyone was always assuring and put me at ease. My doctor, Dr. Lan Tran, is a wonderful person and truly makes patient care her priority. I'm very thankful to everyone who took care of me today. read more

I drove my poor mother 45 minutes from our home in hopes that this hospital would provide quality care. I was sadly disappointed in the continuity of communication. I believe I found myself in a position to advocate for pain management as my mother has chronic arthritis in her right knee. She does not have the ability to communicate her needs due to middle stage Alzheimer's. Furthermore, one nurse was not able to provide me the percentage of meals my mom ate or fluid oz she drank during her shift . This was VERY sad as my mother was a failure to thrive and hospitalized due to dehydration and hallucinations due to a UTI. read more

Went there this week. The people in the emergency room were so dammm rude. I was admitted and then told there were no rooms and i was going to stay in the emergency room. The lady there got mad and treated me like a bag of shit. I was ready to just leave and go home. I told them i was not sleeping there or in a regular bed in the hallway. Finally at midnight, they found a room after i got dressed and told them to get the iv out so i can go home.... i will never step foot in that place again...on the other side, i was up on the 5th floor and my nurses and drs there were amazing. At the advice of the 24/7 nurse at St. Joseph Internal medicine for severe pain in my right shoulder and arm I went to the ER at St. Joseph Hospital. I have rods/fusion in my neck and lumber spine. The pain has been for several days and is interrupting my life in every way as I am right handed. The doctor pretty much blew me off, and told me to keep taking Motrin, Tylenol and gave me some valium and a shot of toradol. I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING FOR MY 3 HOURS AND $120 BACK. A total waste of time and money. read more

A family member went to the ER a couple of weeks ago with a head injury, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although they cleared him of any issue with the head injury, they observed other issues that were complications of multiple chronic diseases which he had. He did have to wait in the ER for a bed in the appropriate ward. But all things considered during this current health crisis, I think the staff at St. Joseph Hospital are amazing. Our family member spent over 2 weeks in the hospital before he passed. They--nor any hospital--is not fully equipped to accommodate every need of someone in his condition. But the members of his health team were working diligently to aid us in getting our family member into hospice or a long-term care facility where he would receive the 24/7 level of care that he needed. The situation was certainly not ideal. But I wanted to give credit where credit is due.... overall, the members of his health care team were extremely competent and compassionate. Thank you for being there and doing what you do! I want to plead with the hospital administration to circumvent your typical supply chains for PPE and also consider KN95 masks as a reasonable substitute for the N95 masks. Having health care workers re-using surgical masks (which are inferior to KN95 masks) for 3 days is NOT okay! read more
