I have been a loyal customer of st. Jo's for decades and never had a bad experience. I've been there for many lab tests, for cancer care, for EKGs. I've also been with my wife when she went there for knee surgery and with my father who had a few emergencies, and when my daughter was little and needed stitches. I trust Saint Joseph and usually find the staff extremely friendly. Dr. Yameen at the Cancer center will take wonderful care of you. read more

We arrived by ambulance and have been sitting in the ER for hours listening to nurses milling around and laughing with staff and ignoring call bells.. so we've been tending to my aunt - helping her in and out of bed to use the bathroom.. and clean her up when she got sick.. the 30 minutes to get test results have turned into well over 90 minutes.. Ed nurse put an IV Saline drip on me and walked away before checking to see if it was dripping. Cut to 28 minutes later when I could actually see a nurse I said its not dripping, she said what did you touch. Seriously try your fellow nurse don't know how to perform the simplest of task. I seen patients all around me mistreated, being neglected by staff. The Doctor was a pompous A$$. The top of the useless people was a lady named Melissa or Mel. She was the rudest person I have had the displeasure of speaking with, other than yelling into a walkie to people no more than 8 feet from her and complaining about everyone behind their backs I'm not sure what she did. I did have a great male nurse he was from TX i think he was running around covering up his co worker's mistakes. I waited 10 hours to be admitted upstairs, I could take no more I asked them to remove my IV and signed refusal of care form, I went to Southern Newhampshire ED in and out in less than 4 hours they were unbelievable so good. Honestly they made me feel safe, St Josephs made me feel like I was back in Iraq very unsafe, shame on you do better for your patients or shut down. read more

usually I had decent care but because of apparently security Data issues things last visit really was the most frustrating thing not feeling well and yes I also had from actual insurance a separate security issue so apparently people had bills from random people and doctors and not limited here. I had a half year of unknown medical statements from previous insurance company so no I will have to say like all except for an individual maybe having a bad day every day anywhere this is a good facility I hope that things get better for all. last few years went a bit off. Also actual room I was in looked as if it had not been even swept out. This is unusual here. But rest taken care of so hopefully soon I won't have to be as careful with each and every facility but some here and other campuses have gone past the call of duty for their job description while I was present for myself or with hipa for others just asked if someone was in the neighborhood in an office area so respected. This is the worst hospital in the Northeast. Their emergency room has literally killed multiple people and ignored urgent patients in their emergency waiting room. Today, against my pleads, my father went there for shortness of breath and COVID. He has AFIB and needed attention. They had him sit in the waiting room for legitimately FOUR hours until he finally left because he needed to lay down. PLEASE!!!! Do not let anyone you know go to this hospital. we had a "crisis counselor" from this "hospital" come to talk with us he recomended we place our son in hampstead hospital and residential treatment facility. everything he told us about the place was a lie. baltantly false he just said what ever he needed to get us to agree in our time of desperation. i rank him slightly above a pedophile in how much of a pos he is to children. he looked sick when we talked to him i hope it was terminal cancer which ever one takes the longest to be lethal but isn't cureable. if your childs special needs avoid this place like the plague. the entire time we were in the ER we had to give our son his meds ourselves and clean up the room and feed him. the nurses did nothing except drop off paperwork and meds. we were just made to keep him there racking up a bill. wish i could give 0 stars i bet these people go home and think they are healers who help people to. disgusting. read more

Horrendous ER staff! Lack of caring or concern. Lie about treatment plan. Filthy and no one cares to clean. Won't even give you a cup of coffee after a long wait. Unprofessional ER doc and nurses. The hospital staff are great, and for the most part, their work is superb, but BEWARE that St. Joseph Hospital can be listed as an OUT-OF NETWORK provider of hospital services that you may receive. This is because St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH are part of St. Joseph Healthcare, Bangor, ME which MAY NOT be a member of your health insurance company's IN-NETWORK list of providers. My insurance company has them listed as an OUT-OF-NETWORK hospital even though all the doctors who serviced me were IN-NETWORK and I live less than 1 mile away from it. So all of my bills for hospital services were HIGHER than if they were IN-NETWORK, so I'm not a happy camper. I wold have given them 4 or 5 stars if my insurance company listed them as IN-NETWORK, like their physicians. read more

I was seen on the second shift team at St Joseph ER. Where my male nurse had and was so calm I was able to reach out for the first time for the brutality abusive treatment in my relationship. I had been threatened with a firearm because I called 911 for a medical emergency which was against the rules. I got so much help. I moved into a secure place through Bridges and now I am at a sober living house. Thanks to the professional team I am safe, happy and free. Great job. This was about two weeks ago. I would give this zero stars not only for the way my husband was treated but the additional problems after his procedure, Cathator placed blood all over and pain! ripped out next day more blood never mentioned by attending nurse, in a couple weeks he was med flighted to Beth Israel in Boston, the unwillingness of them to share complete information of course they may not have done a comparative test., caused a delay in treatment and a need to redo. I felt the hospital was not clean, Covid 19 was ignored, no masks or sanatizer at front fest, people were reminded to wear a mask but nothing said when they just walked in. read more

I broke my hip in Nashua on April 11, and was transported to St. Joseph hospital. I was in a strange hospital in a strange town and was concerned about the type of care I would receive. Soon after arriving I met the orthopedic surgeon who would operate the following day. Dr. Stone immediately put me at ease. The operation was performed on Wednesday afternoon and on Friday afternoon I was transported to a rehab facility closer to home. I have nothing but praise for the hospital staff, the doctors, nurses and aides. They promptly attended to all my needs, which hopefully will put me on the road to a successful recovery. read more

I was in ER on the 9th of July for abdominal pain. I am a very straight forward person, I have at times have ended up in ER elsewhere. Every single nurse in the ER on the hours I was there 4pm to 8pm have the BEST bedsidemanners, very kind, personable, outgoing, sincere nurses. All very attentive. When they were talking amongst themselves it was all professional. Even the guy who checks you in, great manners, personable and professional. Excellent staff. I was feeling ill but they made me feel relaxed there. I wish I knew the names. It wasn't just my own treatment, I witnessed kindness to older people worse shape and they were all catered too. Incompetent is the only word I can think to describe St Joe's. I've been getting a bill for my daughter's annual physical since March. I called St Joe's and they told me that the claim got rejected. I called my insurance company and they told me there was an error in the claim and St Joe's needs to call the provider number to fix it. I called St Joe's back 3 times now to have tell them to call the insurance company. I just got the same bill again so, they obviously haven't called. I think it's time to switch my daughter's doctor. ICU care was substandard. There should be no higher level of attention & care that ICU offers, yet oral care was not provided, pillows on floor, and I had to inform staff of his critical condition change. Grateful I was allowed to stay beyond 10 minutes, but I can't help but to think what else could I had done differently to ensure that he received the care he needed and deserved. It adds tremendously to my grief of his loss. Jenn the LNA in ICU should never meet with loved ones to end visits. "Pretending" he was suddenly speaking and relaying he "was tired but thanked me for visiting" was confusing, not compassionate and not true. I will forever struggle with the fact that I didn't request to go back in and give him a kiss goodbye. Training or retraining is in order. The conditions surrounding the end of his life will trouble me for the rest of mine. read more

Everyone there says, yes, you are due a refund. But no one can get me my money back. NEVER pre-pay for anything, even if they offer you a discount. I was seen by a Dr. Lee in the ED. She would not take me seriously, told me about the symptoms of another patient along with telling me their room number, talked over me, ignored when I mentioned problems were chronic, asked invasive questions that had no basis with the care I was receiving, and was incredibly disrespectful to me, my fiancée, and the nurse that actually provided care. She did not run the tests she said she would. When the tests she did run came back negative, she dismissed my concerning weight loss and inability to keep any food down as "stress". If I were a doctor, I would be ashamed of myself for having so little empathy or professionalism. The rest of the staff were very kind, but I would rather drive an extra hour to a different ER than return here. read more

My brother was recently a patient at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua and I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. His ER experience wasn't bad; the NP Kyle was friendly and the nurse on duty was very helpful. There ends anything positive I have to say because once my brother was admitted, it was all downhill. The hospitalist on 3 North was beyond bad. She had the demeanor of a 12 year old, the bedside manner of a robot and never had anything informative to say. My brother had several cardiac and neurological tests performed. No staff was ever forthcoming about results, I had to search them out and then what I was told was greatly lacking in detail. Though they found no medical reason to keep my brother in the hospital, they wanted him to stay for "a few more days" because he had one low blood pressure reading. He resides in a nursing home where medical staff are able to monitor his blood pressure and treat if necessary, but the hospitalist gave me a very hard time when I wanted him released. I signed him out "against medical advice" which is ironic because there was no medical advice coming from the staff at St. Joseph! After sharing this experience with others, their responses have been, "Everyone knows not to go to that hospital." Well, I didn't, but I certainly do now. read more

They are fake, highly unprofessional, they lie consistently to staff and patients, they do the bare minimum while sitting at their desks and or leaving early constantly. Is so disturbing the turn around here, the common denominator is the people who claim to be running the place. The supposed core values is all BS- they don't abide by them - it just looks good on paper. They're ok with staff that are covid positive to work directly with patients. I was very hopeful that this hospital would stand out from others which is why I drove my mom 45 minutes away from home to bring her there.Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the communication and continuity of care that was provided for my mother. I had to advocate more than once my concerns to provide pain management as my mother has chronic arthritis in her right knee. Furthermore, one nurse in particular informed me she was not able to provide me the percentage of meals my mother ate or fluid oz my mother drank. Very sad as she was failure to thrive and was hospitalized there due to hallucinations caused by dehydration. read more

I moved from Revere MA ( I had MGH in Boston) to Nashua Nh in Oct 2018. At the end of Jan 2019, I had extensive pains in my leg. Being a new resident, I called 911 and they pointed me to St Joseph in Nashua NH. I went to emergency room. Once I arrived, they took me in and gave me a narcotic and sent me home, no X-rays or tests. The following week, pain returned even more this time. So I did the same thing as above. After ten visits to St Joseph ER. The doctor on staff indicated to me " Why are you here" sarcastically. I said I called 911 they told me to go to emergency room maybe I should have gone to Walmart instead? No response. The doctor got angry and transferred me to a room for observation. I was screaming with pain. Then they did an MRI in Feb 2019, my right hip was partially failed and my left hip was moderate. The physicians did not perform any actions on those results. St Joseph Hospital released me ( even though I still could not walk independently). They gave me a voucher for taxi. For the following three months, the same process occurred. Finally in June 2019, they took me in to the hospital and stated I needed exercise to start my leg to move. I had a PT at the St Joseph rehab advocate for me with the senior doctors and they discovered that I had MRSA a deadly infection which destroyed my left hip and 3 inches of hip bone. Doctor Tom informed me that he needs to call the "smart Boston doctors to handle this since their hospital is not equipped for this type of operation. I arrived at MGH in Boston and the surgeon and infectious disease doctor apologized fire the pain I had experienced for the past three months as a result of multiple medical errors done but they would take care of it. I had surgery in July 2019 with a plastic right hip and hip bone and gave me antibiotics for over six months but as a result of the longevity of the infection. The infection may not leave. Currently. It is Oct 2019, and I am awaiting to see if the infection is gone. Infectious disease doctor informed that I should have been diagnosed in Feb 2019 and apologized again for medical mistakes made. Worst hospital ever in my life DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL ST JOSEPH HOSPITAL of The MGH in Boston wanted some blood tests to see how the infection was going. So the order went to St Joseph ( to my dismay). As usual. I went to St Joe hospital and they drew my blood and sent results to infectious disease doctor in MGH. The doctor in MGH contacted St Joe hospital for incorrect blood test. St Joe admitted they conducted the incorrect test even though the order was clear. St Joe hospital admitted error and apologized and I had to go back again. Again if a hospital cannot conduct an easy test as blood then why should we trust them with our lives. They should be held accountable for their actions. If I was rich or knew a political figure I would get action that is right for the ordinary working man and see St Joe pays for their mistakes and possibly close down this Shop of Horrors. read more

I was an inpatient here about 6 years ago and based on that experience alone, I would give St. Joe's 5 stars--because they really were great. But, even back then I had to deal with their emergency room first and since I have been back to their ER 4-5 times since then, I am giving them 1 star. (Actually, I would give their sorry excuse for an emergency room minus 50 stars if I could--and their registration is terrible, too.) I can honestly say that I have never seen a more unprofessional emergency department in my life, from some of the so-called nurses to the medical assistants to the lowlifes that they put in charge of registration. The people there, for the most part, are either immature children or they are completely nasty and if you get the wrong crew of nurses when you go, they will, literally, put your life at risk (which is what happened to me the last time I was there--and it WAS the last time, because I won't be back). Where the hell do they find these low-rent people and how the hell did they become nurses and medical assistants??? Scary. (And if I were to go into detail about my experiences there, then you would really be scared. But I'd rather not relive it, although I will give an example of one of the more minor outrages that I was subjected to: When I was leaving and I was being wheeled out, one of the big-mouth nurses came frantically running out because she was afraid that she'd left an IV tube in my arm. She's lucky that I didn't get up out of the wheelchair and punch her.) Memo to St. Joseph's owner: Clean house. (And start at the top, because your upper management is a huge part of the problem. And then get a patient advocate who actually listens to patients, rather than protecting her incompetent co-workers.) Went with my husband to the ER after his doctor said they couldn't see him at the office. Waited over 2 hours. Went to ask how much longer and they said they didn't have him on the list. ( he was booked in and given a hospital bracelet by a young man who looked about 15 when we first walked in) 2 hours later and 3 people who came after him already seen. So much for a 68 year old heart patient with a head and shoulder injury. My husband was in too much pain to stay . He went to leave , and turned in his bracelet. He put his hand on the sliding window to steady himself, the window rattled and and the woman at the desk yelled at him to not slam her window. Earlier was rude to other people who were waiting to see a sick loved one, yelling at them in front of everyone in the waiting room. Thank goodness Nashua has another hospital. read more

Billing issues - now that it is run by COVENANT This low rating is just regarding the new administration of billing within St. Joseph's now owned by Covenant. (I'd say the health care itself has been decent, with satellite offices being more organized than others. ) Covenant new billing system is awful and I did not get a response when I wrote detailed message to the hospital last week. Concerns: 1) the bills NEVER state the date a claim was submitted to insurance. That is something that it should always state and I have been under enough different insurances in my lifetime to know this is SOP. 2) the bills NEVER state if the bill was rejected from insurance! So you have no idea if it ever was submitted or rejected and when. Again, not standard. 3) it took 24 hours before a call was returned from the 'Customer Care' number that they provided on the bill: they are clearly overwhelmed. 4) Lastly it was a surprise to have found out that St. Joseph's is now owned by Covenant Health and I initially did not feel comfortable talking with their business offices because I didn't know who they were exactly (and if they might have been phishing for information). This should have been announced SOMEWHERE! The bill itself "looks" in appearance as neat and orderly with fine fonts and formatting, however it is oversimplified because it does NOT provide needed details. After calling my local clinic office I was able to get local Nashua business office numbers (not on the bill) and was able to finally talk to someone to get some information, but it took far too much time for me to do this investigation. update 11/16 - Not good news. I went to check up on to see if my claim was paid and I found out thtat the billing office did NOT resubmit the bill as they said they would on 11/3. I know: I called the insurance company. Our families experience at St. Joseph's Pediatrics on DWH South has been wonderful. My girls pediatrician is Dr. Loretta Chou and she is amazing. A couple of years ago I noticed my daughter was growing at a rapid rate. Dr. Chou was able to pin point exactly what was going on and got her the treatment she needed right away. I would highly recommend her. My girls absolutely adore her. We couldn't ask for better care. She is accepting new patients. read more

Oh my... guaranteed death wish if you go here! I have had the displeasure of dealing with this place recently... one of these days this place will surely get sued for their medical practices if in not lack there of. Recently my friend got brought through the emergency room after a serious accident. Head... still attached and fine. All marbles intact. Shoulder ... simply explained as "broken" Insurance... none (that's when the care and service stopped) Knee... not looked at Ankle/leg... not looked at After my friends head was cleared and the severe pain and discolourment of her shoulder was said to be simply "broken" and to contact and ortho, within 3hrs she was booted out the door. She walked out the door... My friend was in alot of pain. We read the discharge papers in more detail and it said the shoulder was an unstable fracture. To add to the list of aches and pains, her knee was in the size of a melon and the ankle was had more colours to it than a Monet! 24hrs later we went back to the hospital, something was not setting well. This time we went to the place down the street. The place down the street started from scratch! Well the shoulder was broken, ST J's got that right... but it was shattered! Left leg/ankle broken in 2 places (she had been walking on it). Knee ok, but not the great shape. Dehydration and other aliments had set in due to the severe pain and not able to eat due to pain. This other hospital admitted her and got her to surgery within 24hrs of entering their emergency room! ST J's messed up bad! How can a doctor, a human doctor push a patient with those injuries out the door, regardless of insurance. ST J's messed up morally and ethically! Yes, I do think this has to do with lack of insurance as the other hospital took my friend and operated on the injury without insurance... read more

We had our first child at St. Joe's, and we were very pleased with the experience all around. This review focuses mainly on our experiences with the childbirth center. Their ultrasound tech on staff is very good, and one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. We also went to a number of new parent classes here -- these varied widely depending on who the instructor was. The class we took with Angela was really fun. Some of the other instructors' classes consisted largely of reading off a powerpoint presentation and showing us videos (as a teacher, this instructional style is a pet peeve of mine...). My wife also had the opportunity to visit a few times during pregnancy, when our snarky baby decided he wanted to sleep through an ultrasound at the OB's office, prompting the doctor to send my wife to the hospital to be hooked up to all sorts of stuff -- at which point child decides to put on a show. The labor and delivery rooms were nice, each with a private bathroom and shower. The big plus here is the nursing staff on the childbirth floor - some of the friendliest and most caring people I've met. It's usually not a zoo on that floor, so they're willing to spend a lot of time answering any questions and helping out. The "people" factor also goes a long way. As it turns out, they needed to bring in a surgical team in the middle of the night to take care of some unexpected complications. To a person, they were all wonderful, caring, and put as positive a spin on the experience as possible. As a bonus, the anesthesiologist snapped a few photos with my camera once the baby had been delivered -- they came out great! As far as the amenities - the new entrance is nice, as is the valet parking if you're making a quick visit. Being winter, I appreciated being able to put my car underneath the covered parking deck. especially considering how much it snowed when our son was born. The rooms are reasonably nice -- it is an older hospital, and the rooms feel like they were updated sometime in the early to mid 90's -- meaning a little dated, and not the new super-luxury suites like you see in other hospitals (hence 4 stars instead of 5). My hint for the Yelp crowd - everybody wants the room with the Queen size bed, but I suggest asking for Rm. 215 at the end of the hall. You have a lot more privacy, plus a place for people to hang out in the little vestibule so it's not so crowded in the room. The hospital food isn't that bad, it's also not trucked in from Michael Timothy's either. They do make a mean breakfast, and the fancy dinner the night before you're discharged is a nice touch. The cafeteria food seems insanely salty, but they do carry 20 oz. bottles of Moxie, and the food's pretty cheap. On the whole, a good experience, and some friends of ours who delivered there also enjoyed the experience. read more
