I…read moreattended to shop to support and, unfortunately, I felt I was subjected to unfair treatment. I went directly to the treasure shop. I went inside with my cross body bag and a backpack (inside are my shoppings bags, including Ikea bag). I was wearing a sweater and a bubble jacket. While inside, I felt warm, so I decided to remove my jacket, put it i side my Ikea bag, so I can continue browsing the clothes rack, while browsing, only lady associate in the treasure room, already saw and knew that I took the black crossbody to purchase, holding on to it while still browsing clothes rack. A few moment went to inform the other lady at the door, which I found and was told to "leave" extra bag by the door (my backpack with other shopping bags) . I continued shopping and at that moment I was already holding my opened Ikea, dropped inside the crossbody that I am interested to buy, and a white blouse I chose from the rack). Again, the lady by the door approached me and informed me that bags should be left by the door!!! Opened up and browsed what was inside the Ikea bag and saw the stuff I am buying!!!! To my mind, whats going on? She already took "extra bag"!!! I felt like I was treated "unfairly or I should say discriminatory? Do they think I would be stealing? Are we not supposed to bring a bag inside while shopping? A day before the sale, I and my husband dropped 3 black garbage bags full of slightly used clothing of mine, my husband's and a bag both of our shoes, organized and properly labeled. The lady who accepted our stuff even declared "oh thank you, now I want to say you are "my favorite"! This is our second time of donating our clothes etc. we gave "with eyes closed" our stuff because they are still very usable and slightly used. Because felt that sharing is a blessing. So, We went to fall in line to the rummage sale, on a breezy morning, even the line was long, slow moving, we're also supporting the sale. I and my husband are even joking as we might see our stuff and buy it back again! I know the volunteers are trying to be organized as they can be but they should not forget that all the rummage sale items were just donations only. I am saying that no losses will be charged and not even audited. I really felt bad what transpired earlier this morning and I even purchased $50! To support.

Bottom line, it is a welcoming, friendly church that follows its own promise to be a "vibrant Catholic parish that nurtures the community."

I don't know that I would drive out of my way specifically just to visit, but we were so glad that we spotted it on our way to a cute (and yummy, see my review) bakery within walking distance called Sweety Pies. While we were inside taking photographs, really enjoying the stained-glass windows and architecture, there happened to be musicians in the rafters rehearsing. Such a nice way to further appreciate the beauty around us. It turns out there was to be a wedding here in less than a half hour! If you are a shutterbug, or just appreciate the wonderful architecture, sculptures, and stained-glass of many old churches, and are in the neighborhood, you should enjoy the charm of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Skokie.

Had been following James Ward Jr. on his radio program 'Cultural Conversations' and found his radio broadcast very uplifting, refreshing, unique. Never imagined I would be actually attending his church, like ever. If I had to describe him I'd say he's less of a traditional, run of the mill pastor and more like a motivational speaker / CEO very cool guy. Very real, down to earth, authentic atmosphere. James Ward jr. offers an almost decadent buffet of powerful messages that stirs you and boosts you out of your comfort zone and into actualizing your faith + prayer life, not just being a sideline Christian. He teaches us how to bring it in the streets, in our homes, and in the workplace. Highly recommended.

Inside you will find the 2nd largest collection of relics in the United States! Unassuming from the outside, inside features some truly precious relics including the incorrupt tongue of St. John Nepomucene, items owned by St. John Vianney, and the bones of St. Benedict, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Remaclus, St. Stephen the First Martyr, and even St. Peter. It is not possible to list every saint whose relics are here. This is a truly wonderful place to pray and thank God for the miracles wrought through his saints. The Shrine is currently led by Fr. Dennis O'Neill who has grown it over the years to its present state. It is available to tour by appointment only but if you are able to visit, you will surely find it an occasion of many graces.

Fr. also stated that it was my peeps, the Filipinos that kept this parish still alive while so many in the Archdiocese are being closed. Orthodoxy under the radar and a love of the faith can do that. There's still a vibrant youth church and multiple ministries that help the local community. The fact that these things occur and people don't know about them show a disconnection from faith and being involved with the church in general.

The church is a simple neighborhood Catholic Church. Most of these types of churches seem to lose members and are closed. This one seems to be doing well. The church itself isnt very ornate. A simple cozy environment. Whenever the pastor Father Chris says Mass, he begins by saying how nice it is to see the familiar faces but always says that those who are visiting or have been away from the church are always welcome. If you are looking for an inviting, cozy, Catholic Church. I highly recommend Our Lady of Ransom Church.
