I was seen today at the ER at St. Joseph. Dr Coffee was very respectful, attentive and knowledgeable about my condition. I barely waited before I was taken back for the evaluation. The nursing staff was kind and considerate of my needs. Liz the nurse who cared for me was very sweet although a little bit quiet. The only draw back today was that they were extremely busy and I had to receive my treatment in the hallway. But we all know the hospitals in Savannah are not large enough for the population. I rate 4 out of 5 stars, because everyone needs improvement of some kind. read more

My sister was in this horrible hospital in an active crisis with Addison Disease . 3 nights she spends on a stretcher in the ER. very comfortable for someone in an active crisis. after that she got brought to the UCU- where the incompetent doctor took her lifesaving steroids away . I had contact with my sister at 0400 inthe morning and she was again in a crisis. I called the hospital - after hours to find a person - I left a voicemail and she was finally seen by the patient care advocate- nothing was changed- just received another incompetent doctor and was released - after 4 crises during her stay in this lack of care hospital- without her medication (lifesaving) and told she needs to pick up her meds at the pharmacy. The same night she ended in the ER of another hospital - where there - she almost died due to the lack of care she received in St. Josephs- her potassium levels were so high she was about to go in cardiac arrest- 5IV bags had to be given to her - before she was somewhat saved. Resting BP was 174. She is now unable to walk on her own and we are waiting on a wheelchair. read more

I went to the emergency room at St. Joseph's with extreme dizziness and chest pain. I was placed in a chair in the hallway, where I remained for hours before even seeing a doctor. Eventually, an x-ray was done and I was told I had pneumonia--something I told them I did not have. After more testing, I was repeatedly returned to the same chair in the hallway. Later, I was told I had a ruptured aneurysm and needed immediate surgery. Despite my objections, I was put on a helicopter and flown to USMC. I was informed that the decision to airlift me was not mine to make. When I arrived at Cardio ICU, I was immediately told that I did not have a ruptured aneurysm and could go home the next morning. The original diagnosis from St. Joseph's was completely incorrect. Now, I'm facing a $90,000 bill for the unnecessary medical transport--denied by my insurance--and St. Joseph's has provided zero assistance in resolving the issue. The care I received was poor, the diagnosis was wrong, and the reaction was extreme for what was later determined to be an elevated level of epilepsy medication in my system. I cannot recommend this facility or the doctors involved. This was a serious failure in care and communication, and now I'm stuck dealing with the financial fallout of their mistake. read more

Honestly never seen such a disappointing level of care. Father, went in 7pm on Saturday and still hadn't been admitted as of 10am the next day. The claim is they have been working on getting a hold of the specialist. Hospitality was supposed to come in for the admission process around 10 pm but never showed. Staff seems very green and no-one is attentive or has any knowledge about what's going on or the testing being done. I've been in and out of ERs and hospitals all across the country for the last 15 years with my occupation and never seen anything quite this bad. read more

Dr reims outstanding. nurses outstanding but two and anesthesia ologist lies I asked him since I cannot take delotin what would I get for pain post surgery. he said we will use demerol or they will give morphine with a anti nausea. when I woke up in recovery in massive screaming pain they said I was maxed out unless willing to try iv Dilotin. so I did. when moved to room and woke up 5pm my really bad pain started coming back so I asked the nurse what was ordered demerol or morphine. guess what nothing notta zilch. they don't have these meds here. so managed two 5/325 oxi but just went to be and PAIn. for Xmas I want that nurse and anistega man to have my pain and see how they like it the day nurse actually said you shouldn't be in this much pain. glad to know she is so caring. my name is Joseph pecorella 912 318 9571 only bright side is nurse Camille read more

My granddaughter had her baby at this hospital on July 18th. This has got to be the worst hospital I've ever seen. They didn't bath the baby, they don't offer newborn photos. They sent them home yesterday. Even though the babies bilirubin was high. I wouldn't recommend sending your dog to these people. Dr. Manson you are phenominal. I have no hip pain. When I first came to your office my pain was 9/10 on the 1 to 10 pain scale. You were my third opinion hence, and the other 2 doctors told me the pain in my head. You listened to me. My surgery was uneventful. Recovery wes gr8 thanks to you. I normally have such good things to say about St Joseph, since I've had several surgeries there. BUT, we have been sitting in the ER SINCE 6PM & AT THE MOMENT IT'S 12AM AND WE STILL HAVEN'T BEEN SEEN BY A DOCTOR! I told them our Dialysis nurse suggested that my husband might be Hemorrhaging, and we needed to see someone soon. But here it is 6 hrs later & nothing. It's sad there was so many people in the ER in the same situation! It's just unforgiving what has happened tonight & we continue to sit!! What choice do we have ! I guarantee you, if they do find out he was, I see a law suit in the works. read more

Their care is very inconsistent and the whole time my Father-in-Law is in the hospital for almost a month, it seems like they don't know what they are doing. This is the closest hospital to my house. But I will literally drive another 20 mins for better service/ they should reallly close this emergency room down. Even when this place isn't packed the wait is still longggg. They do they vitals but literally will have you sitting there in pain waiting . Every time I am here I am waiting 4 -+hours just to see a doctor. Horrible (Emergency room) what's the point of this ? To get immediate care: I can in for shortness of breath and chest pain. Billing... Used the hospital system in Savannah for 2 things. A wonderful podiatrist, since I kept breaking my feet, and a mammogram. I was trying to clear up all Sav business before miving at the end of 2022. They had sent me a generic bill. Letter head, date, and amount due. Absolutely 0 breakdown. My calendar showed it was the podiatrist. I check my insurance, TO THIS DAY, there are 0 claims associated with appointment. I went back and forth but they insisted insurance was billed. I didn't have the spoons to deal with it, so I paid. I have been putting together a medical record binder, as I have many chronic conditions. I have been putting both pertinent and not, records in the binder. I also recently had my 2023 mammogram and they found something. A month prior to the appointment I requested my previous mammogram records from SJC. 2 WEEKS POST APPT, 6 WEEKS POST request, I got a flipping bill to prepay FOR MY RECORDS!!! MY RECORDS, MY HEALTH. If in Sav, definitely stick with Memorial and Southcoast. At least you don't have to pay for your records with them and you're bills make more sense. read more

​I went to the hospital emergency room and everything was going well until I had made the comment to the nurse that I used to be an addict.. Instead of being kind to me because I have been clean for years, she seemed to only hear that I USED to be an addict. The moment she heard that, everything changed. She was incredibly short with me, rude, she yelled at me, and ignored any requests or questions I had. Apparently she told her friends, because from that moment everyone treated me bad. I wasnt able to get the help I needed, I was rushed out the door, they had even drew blood from a very painful place after I had begged them not to. They took blood from my palm and it was excruciating! I was threatened by them because I happened to be moving too much. They made the whole experience so bad just because of my past problems which are none of their business anyway. read more

This review is for April who is a Social Service worker at you hospital. She is the most unhelpful individual my parents could have dealt with. The are discharging my father after a fusion surgery on his ankle. He could not walk without a rotator walker before the surgery. He now can't do load bearing for 90 days. my mother has been telling her that she can't take care of my dad upon discharge. She insists that he can scoot up the steps to his home backwards on his butt. How would my 82 year old mother pick up my 300 pound father off the porch when he made it to top? She doesn't care. Took my wife to the emergency department. Very easy to access. Parking was convenient. The department is clean and modern. It is fairly new. Promptly triaged and taken back to room. Staff friendly and professional. Saw physician within 15-20 minutes. Test ordered and results back promptly. Registration process was quick and easy. Everyone we encountered was friendly and professional. We chose the hospital because of online ratings and the fact that it was a Magnet hospital for its nursing care. Went in around 11:45pm and left about 2:15am. They put my son in a splint because they thought his wrist was bruised. I got a call this morning that the doctor misread the X-ray and it really is fractured. Disappointed that we were diagnosed wrong, I am grateful that it was the weekend and he would have had to wait anyway. Also thankful for the physician that reread the X-ray and called on a Saturday to request us to take him to the orthopedic on Monday. Update: As of Monday, the orthopedic doctor has notified is that my son's wrist is BROKEN. The ER doctor completely misread the X-ray. Definitely NOT happy with my experience! read more

No one (when they have people) at the desk even acknowledges you. They act like you're a burden or a problem. The young nurse or whatever she is in the ER desk likes to chew gum and act miserable. It's a shame my loved one is in this building!!! Worst staff/customer service I've ever seen. The team at the neuro ICU saved my life over a three-week visit.

I was admitted to the 5th floor and stayed for three weeks. I had the BEST staff of nurses, aides, dieticians, janitorial that anyone can ever ask for. They treated me with such kindness and love and made my stay easier on me. I can still name the nurses and the rest of the staff, and it has been over a year. My doctors were incredible also, and the house Dr. (Dr. Machombadi) was such a sweetie. Every Dr and all the staff listened to all I had to say, and encouraged me daily. It was my birthday weekend I came in from out of town I went to the emergency room because I have foreign objects in both eyes I figured it was wood from a construction site the doctor Randa necessary test he gave me eye drops with sulfur in them I don't need any kind of eye drop with sofa so I stopped using them went back the next day seem the same doctor Who was Christopher k h o l my head was on fire my neck my face he ran excessive test that was unnecessary when I asked him please stop my headache can you please give me a different eye drop he writes a prescription for Saline I asked him if he could give me utabitol for my headache now in the hospital if he could please give me something for my headache and then write me a prescription for a couple of days well he ran unnecessary test like I said eye test all this and that he did that the day one which was Sunday when the nurse gives me my release papers it was nothing there for the headache she goes back and ask him and he denied giving me any medication for my headache I just don't understand people they are evil so when you call the emergency room department and you press option for it is a succubus that answers the phone and she's always giving me a hard time I asked for the head person in charge of the emergency room and she went left field or me talking nasty because she is nasty won't refer me to anyone but medical records I don't understand why are you in the medical field if you're not there to help people you are one of the nasty ones at that hospital so you guys silently racist and not all people are that way that work in the hospital cuz the Great nurses I give them daisies and if I get a good doctor I give him a daisies but this isn't the case and all Saint Joseph County does send me a dog on survey I ain't filling out no surveys but I will get on social media and tell my experience so I've been suffering with my head burning and all those good things as I mentioned before they're not good things but I'm being facetious it's so hard to even find parking to go to the emergency room because you got people who worked there taking parking spaces people who are going to get lab tests and all that other stuff or day surgery they need to invest in more parking because they're sure enough billing you like you got tons of money whoever this individual is who answers the phone and won't give me her name she hangs up the phone in my face she needs to be terminated she doesn't care about people she's a hypocratic old violator as well as the doctor and he cheats and takes an issue off of his last name so you don't really know who he is but I got your license number on the stupid prescription that was over the counter give me a break people like you all make it bad for the real good doctors there don't send me anymore surveys find out who this girl is in terminate her she shouldn't work around people and for the record a lot of the staff who know that they're nasty they hide their name badge it should be a law against that you clearly should be able to see the doctor name badge and the nurses Etc but they know that they're ugly and they got the devil in them and they're not going to do the right thing this is why they turned their badge around and or have some other type of card pent on to the uniform that covers their name unacceptable read more

one star is one to man. this is my second bed experience. The employees most of all clinical staff or uncaring and rude. Maybe because of fatigue burn out I don't know. What can I say I won't be coming back I won't bring my loved ones here. Saint Joseph is supposed to be a faith based hospital. And it's very far from it I think Saint Joseph should change their symbol and name. But when you have millions and millions of dollars in donations backing you I guess people like me don't matter.
