ER wait times can be lengthy 1-3 hours depending on number and severity of trauma patients. I'd recommend calling ahead to see if beds were available if not being brought in by EMS. ER does have private rooms but the stretchers are hot, and the AC does not work well in the ER. Once admitted upstairs the beds automatically inflate to prevent bed sores. Upstairs in the Personal Care unit the nurses are compassionate and accommodating for the most part. FYI if you have any respiratory machines like cpap or bipap make sure you bring your own mask for the best fit and experience. The Cafeteria is quite good. The cardiac diet offered is very good but could definitely use more black pepper and Mrs dash and condiments to make up for low sodium. read more

One night... Some staff was so rude when we went to leave breakfasts was still in room it was after 4 in afternoon... They say try to get you out by noon, it was after 5... And they didn't care... Room smelled of pee ... Definitely not a good hospital! They had tripping hazard on floor with someone who had back surgery.... Crazy crazy... Plus the elevator did not detect a person... The door actually shut on my child. read more

I've only lived in Savannah a few years but and I've only had 2 trips to the ER. I broke my shoulder and was seen immediately and was out in an hour. The doctor was really good and super nice. read more

My granddaughter went to emergency because her thumb was infected. March 4 at 430pm. March 5th she finally saw the physician at 530 pm. So she spent the night in a room with no windows. When we talked to the Dr. She had to stay another night with strong antibiotics via a drip. The good thing was nurse Jessica, she did keep us informed and went over all the instructions. The infestation physician did her and scheduled her release and a follow-up appointment. Two nights in the emergency room holding room is a lot. Due to no rooms or beds not available. Could it be due to the type of insurance and being a college student We'll never know for sure. Thanks to nurse Jessica and Dr Nash she is doing good. read more

Went to the emergency room with extreme back pain. I was led into a room with different bays, most of the other patient's curtains were open. I was put in a bay that still had a dirty cup of another patient's pee and was clearly not sanitized before I was put there. When I got seen they asked my symptoms and did not give me an x-ray or do any kind of close care, they stood by the curtain and I was offered a steroid shot and discharged all within minutes of meeting the doctor. When I declined the shot because I did not feel comfortable with the care they then had an attitude as I was leaving. read more

I had a day surgery here where I did have to spend one night. The care I received was top notch. It is a relief to have someone looking out for you in a time of your weakest moments in life. The staff was attentive. The doctors were amicable with great senses of humor. I am so happy to have had a smooth and successful procedure, but equally grateful that the hospital was clean and tidy. I wish they had a better way to accommodate an overnight guest inside the patient's room instead of a recliner, but aside from that I had a pleasant stay. read more

I have been to a lot of hospital ER's in my life and this was by far the worst. My daughter was in extreme pain, running a higher fever and not being able to keep food or drink down in days. The first person to greet her was on a personal call while trying to take name address and medical info from my daughter. She finally threw her drivers license at him so he could spell it correctly before he said babe I'm going to have to call you back. He still spelled it wrong so she was treated as uninsured. Because none of her coverage came through. They say they don't treat you differently if you don't have insurance but I can tell you, they do. She was ignored, left to sit in a cold hallway after tests because the person assigned to bring her back, didn't. Blood and urine samples were taken but no one thought to take a stool sample. After almost 9 hours she was sent home with 6 prescriptions and four days later we are on our way to Memorial. She had just returned from Mexico which she told them and some of the rest of her group is recovering from Salmonella and Ecoli poisoning because they were treated properly. read more

I came into the emergency room feeling absolutely horrible from precipitated withdrawal. I have suffered for years with an opiate addiction due to the opiates given to me by doctors for my back pain. I tried doing the right thing by switching to suboxone, but the doctors instructions were not accurate, and I suffered horribly trying to switch from one medication to the other. Let me say, I have never been treated and made to feel like I was the biggest scumbag the moment the doctors and nurses found out I was on opiates. Eventhough doctors were responsible. They put me in the hallway and ignored me, specifically telling me they were giving me nothing, I layed for hours kicking my legs and arms, crying and begging for anything. I tried using the restroom but fell over crashing my head on the porcelain sink, I wasnt offered a glass of water as dehydrated as I was, I was yelled at by the nurse because I wasnt able to keep my arm still to give me an IV of saline, I was treated and made to feel like I was worthless, the lowest piece of garbage scum. Luckily my husband stayed with me and held my hand as much as he was able due to the shaking and constant movement. I am not trash off the streets, I am not a broke druggie buying street drugs, I am a mother of three who has severe back pain and was given medication by my doctor. Do they train staff to look down on anyone with an addiction? I believe every evil staff member working that evening should be fired! I would not treat a cockroach that bad! I will NEVER go to that hospital for any kind of help ever again, as they do not deserve a penny of mine. As far as discrimination goes, if you happen to have an addiction, the staff WILL discriminate against you, I guarantee that because I have spoken with others who had very similar experiences. You will not receive one single drop of kindness.. you will be put out on display and talked down to if you are lucky enough to be spoken to at all. I cannot even describe in words how absolutely awful they made me feel but I was too sick to stand up for myself at the time. When you are in the midst of absolute agony would it be too much to ask to be treated like a human being? It would have made all the difference in the world. This hospital staff were the worst people I cannot stress that enough! Do not go here, anything is better than that hell. read more
