When one of my three daughters was dismissed just as she was starting to have trouble with her grades, it felt clear that once they decide they no longer want a student there, there's little room for understanding or grace. My oldest daughter actually graduated from this school, which is why I fought so hard to keep the other two enrolled. After spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on this school, I would have expected a much higher level of care, compassion, and support from leadership at the time. Hearing about hints of discrimination within the school community is also deeply troubling and disappointing.

The environment--both for students and teachers--shifted in a way that many families, including ours, found concerning. The biggest issue was the inconsistency and lack of genuine warmth. While the school often emphasized values and faith, the leadership's day-to-day actions didn't match those messages. Interactions frequently felt insincere, and there was a clear pattern of favoritism. Some children were approached with patience and grace, while others received a noticeably harsher tone for the exact same behaviors. As a parent, this was heartbreaking to watch. We also noticed a sharp increase in turnover among both families and lower school teachers during their leadership. When people continue to leave year after year, it naturally raises questions about the internal culture and what may be happening behind the scenes. In the end, we chose to move our child because the environment no longer felt supportive to their well-being, confidence, or growth. My hope is that by sharing our experience, the school will take a closer look at its leadership and the culture that's being shaped under their direction.

Over the past two school years, several students and parents have become concerned about repeated unethical behavior that may have affected academic fairness and opportunities for other students. The concerns reported include: Alleged cheating during exams beginning in the 2024 school year. Use of AI tools to complete projects where such tools were reportedly prohibited. Alleged use of a cell phone during STAAR testing in 2025, including claims that test questions were photographed and shared with others. Claims that recommendation letters from teachers could be obtained in exchange for money. Many students have expressed frustration and disappointment because they believe these actions may have unfairly impacted rankings, academic recognition, and admissions opportunities. These concerns have reportedly been brought to the attention of school administration previously, but parents and students feel the matter has not been fully addressed. We respectfully request that Fort Bend ISD conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into these allegations to ensure fairness, accountability, and integrity within the school system. Our intention is not to target any individual unfairly, but to protect the integrity of the academic environment and ensure equal opportunities for all students.

They truly have my respect, not only as teachers.. but as thinkers, innovators, and leaders in education. The curriculum is challenging and encourages an understanding of the liberal arts and sciences, balanced by the values of forgiveness, love, and understanding deeply rooted in Christian belief systems. Their Scottish Arts program is unbelievable to see and I am constantly amazed at the artistic abilities of the students who have been encouraged over the years by the school. My daughter, who deals with sensory issues that affect her learning, has always been treated with the utmost respect and has been encouraged to embrace new ideas while being challenged by proven methods of teaching that instill an understanding of the world around her while teaching her to effectively communicate those ideas. I am not an alumni and I was only aware of the school through long time friends. But, having faced the challenges of the current public school system with our oldest child, my wife and I came to believe that a private school was our only acceptable option for our youngest child (and any future children). We explored several private schools in Houston and decided on St. Thomas' based on a tour of the school and talking with faculty and others who knew of or had experienced the school. Also, I believe that the tuition is quite reasonable compared with other private schools in Houston that we considered. We intend to keep our 8 year old at St. Thomas' through 12th grade and we plan to send our 3 year old there as well when she reaches school age. I would also encourage any parents considering a private school education to meet with Mr. Cusack and the faculty and see it for yourself. I believe that you will like what you see.

The teachers are awesome and the administration is very helpful. They also have a Scottish Arts program which is excellent. The band is full of bagpipers and drums. There is also a Scottish dance program which has produced many U.S. champions. If you are around the Meyerland plaza area around 4pm you will hear the bagpipers practicing.
