I recently took a continuing education class here and had a very positive experience. Once you enter the campus there is ample parking and it is easy to figure out the front/main entrance area. My class was once a week for six weeks and I really enjoyed this experience. My teacher was excellent, friendly and I learned a lot! The only difficulties I had was the first week of my class I could not find the room and I asked staff members that tried to help, but didnt really know where my classroom was located and once there I found out the room had changed, but was not notified of this. This wasn't a major issue, just a bit frustrating the first week there. I will definitely be back for more classes! read more

Students, teachers, office workers, so called professors, just all of the staff everyone of them acts as if their still in high school. The teachers gossip with the students, most of the students have a chip on their shoulder, or some sort of superiority complex, even the older students are like this and I'm talking about people in their 30s and 40s... they all act like actual children. Staff who work at the help desk and offices are ALWAYS on breaks eating and talking about BS other than doing their job. They never want to help you even when your asking a simple question they treat you like trash for even asking... Teachers continually hit on people half their own age, and the creepy ass things the staff say and do half the time... The staff don't actually know what the hell their doing half the time when they ARE attempting to do their job, (I say that loosely) because again nobody seems to actually do their job. Had one teacher talk about his Facebook status all class period...not only that I get its a Community college but like why are all the students legit assholes 24/7 about the most petty stuff. The supply store sucks and is too high price, of course some classes give you what you need but most of the time your going to need supplies for class, good luck unless you brought your own your better off buying supplies from an actual store... Please don't go to this college, these were the worst four years of my life, there are way better colleges to go to trust me. read more

I currently attend the forest park location. The health science building always smells bad, throughout the entire building. They leave bathroom doors open and you can hear and smell everything going on in the bathrooms. Not only that but the top floor always has a potent smell of left overs from people microwaving food. Building is pretty nice and clean but the smells are unbearable. read more

Please save your money! Stlcc has a huge problem with communication on every level. The admin as well as all the chairmen and chairwomen has dellusional thinking. They turn a blind eye and never see anything wrong with nothing. The professors are hit and miss. Some know the coursework while many are just told what to teach and how to teach it. You don't really get a great education, unless your actually going for a career such as nursing or human resource. But even then that can be a hit or miss as well. Not many tutors really know stats which if you've taken stats you know you need tutoring. Stlcc refuses to give stats test before hiring a tutor. Many tutors walk through the door saying that they know stats but when they are hired they aren't helping the students with stats. Public safety officers at forest park doesn't write reports if your car is damaged or if it's stolen. If you have insurance, you'd better be prepared to fight for the police report. The food is expensive. However, Flo Valley has more fun activities. However, the communication on every campus as well as on every level is bad. No one knows how to communicate. The professors doesn't need a union because the adminstration as well as the presidents of the college or biased. As if only students mess up. There are many racial professors there and no one is willing to stand up and face the facts. if you do decide to go to Stlcc. Please keep your personal business to yourself. Many of the staff act like high-schoolers that can't wait to start up stuff. Some of the janitors are stlcc eyes and ears. Some of them act worse then a five year old. Course work, many of the professors act as if there the only class that matters. They too forget how it was in college. In addition, if you do a research paper they don't tell you how many pages, but if it's too many they are quick to try and charge with plagiarism. When it comes to the professors reading, they are lazy. But other assignments they will give you mainly because the computer automatically grades the assignments. Spend your money somewhere else. I took an online class at St. Louis Community College Forest Park in Fall 2018. I waited to write my review after having something else to compare to. The professor was accessible if I needed help but otherwise he didn't offer any extra help or ever offer any constructive criticism about grades or discussion boards. The quizzes and tests are computer graded so I really can't think of any work he did during the semester other than check marking a box that we complete the discussion board for the chapter. It was easy and cost effective but extremely impersonal and I can't say I learned a single thing. The administrative staff at Forest Park are some of the most difficult to deal with anywhere. If you need to utilize St. Louis Community College I suggest you go to literally any campus besides Forest Park to take care of your administrative needs. read more

This review is more for the motorcycle safety class they offer at SLCC. This class is awesome! I thought it would be intimidating but the instructors were very patient, informative and put you at ease as though your dad or an uncle were teaching you how to ride a motorcycle. You can either take the three day class or the two day class. I recommend the two day class just to get it over with. Although riding that first day for 6 hours straight did take a lot out of me! This class is good for novice riders and people who have been riding on their permit for awhile. Most of my class was comprised of guys who already ride on their permit and just wanted to take the class so they could get their license. Even so, they all agreed that it was well worth it to learn the basics and safety maneuvers that they otherwise would have never learned. I even noticed that they were operating on almost the same level as the others of us who had never rode a bike, and it made for a good level of comfortableness for newbies. Everyone had good things to say about what they heard from their friends and family as to why to take the class, so the course already has a pretty good reputation. I just wanted to give it a shout out as a woman taking the class so that other women who might read this know not to be intimidated, but that it is actually quite fun and not to mention pretty bad a** to learn how to ride a motorcycle! Also, some of the other guys were telling me how they tried taking the riding exam with the state at the driver's bureau and how it was technically a lot harder to get a passing score because the instructors are very particular about your skills performance and even they failed the state exam once or twice. The course at SLCC is well worth the 200 it costs to enroll. Not only do you get two full days (9am to 6pm) of instruction and riding time, but you learn things from very experienced riders that you would otherwise never learn. Plus you then don't have to take the riding portion of the exam with the state and you get up to 20% off of motorcycle insurance from participating insurance companies if you pass the course. You also get discounts on participating dealers on bikes, gear, and clothing. Overall I give this course a 5 because it does a very solid job of making sure that you know as much as you can about being safe and operating a bike in a safe way. And because it is a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be and it gave me the confidence to keep learning on my own! read more

An hour wait is expected, but not 3 hours and after 4 approaches they realize they "skipped" over you by accident. I'm pissed!!! I have come here in the past to take tests for my certifications and had been very impressed...up until this past weekend! Normally the testing department has it very organized. Your admission ticket tells you the room to go to and if you get redirected, its usually to a room next store or down the hall. They'd ID you, and everyone in the room was taking the same type of certification test. This particular time, we were directed to a building that was two buildings away. Once there we stood in line for a long time to enter a computer testing room (yet the test wasn't computer based) and crammed in with computers into this not so big room to take this test. Once you situated yourself and moved the keyboard, mouse, etc, you were then told the rules from Princeton to take these test by people who you can tell have never taken this test before. Bunch of people in street clothes, talking on their bluetooth while giving the instructions. Despite the cell phone signs that were very visible, there were no reminders to turn them off and one went off during the test. I had chosen to go back to FP because I have had success there in the past. I hope that stays true with the test results because the testing environment wasn't the best. read more

If you have the unfortunate opportunity to have to deal with the people in registration, take this advice: ask your A#, and leave. You can do everything online at home. No one there cares enough to find out who you are or what you are there for, and they are all very quick to tell you that your problem (that they have no idea what it really is) has to be handled by another department, so you are no longer their problem. They provide no extra information and assume you know EVERYONE that works in their office, where they sit, and what their job description is. They also move like their being paid by the decade (Phyllis... -.-) and have no idea what this thing called 'the internet' really is (again, Phyllis... -.-). Other reviews of their lack of organization are absolutely correct. I haven't even taken classes yet, just dealt with registration. Hopefully the rest of the semester goes better. read more

After attending a summer class (yay broken ac) and the advisors not being attentive enough, the transcript facilitator not accepting credits.... this place lacks and all around cohesiveness and the cuts they are imposing on the teachers to build a new athletic complex will ultimately lead to less enrollment. read more

Absolutely the worst! Esl class with Sharon Persons was horrible. First test almost everyone failed. We all complained that it was on advanced english topics that we are not studying in that prebegginning english class. She states "it was not on what we studied, don't go running to the dean, I will let you take it again" What!!!! Most of us failed again because it was on advanced english topics that we did not study!!!! Hello!!! About 75% of the class dropped it before it was over. Then I take another esl class with teacher Dempsey. We have to do an essay. Almost everyone fails. She states "this is draft 1, redo it and turn it in next class. Redo what? She gave no feedback as to what was incorrect!! We all redo it and most fail. She states "you have many books to read, you will be graded on attendance, participation, summaries, research project notes, and 2 essays" At the end of class we are given a tiny scrap of paper that has our final grade and scores on it. It said 87% B! i'm very happy, i thought i got a B YEAH!. She then states "guess what, you failed because your essay that was looked at by another teacher was not up to standard" i ask how much did it contribute to the total points that i had accumulated? she says "it is not graded but you have to wrie a good essay to pass the class". What!!! There were 7 people left in our huge class when it ended. Insanity!! We go to the head of the english department Maxine Beach. She says Mrs Wilkinson is in charge of the "new" esl program. Many of my classmates are muslim and said Wilkinson is the worst and was openly hostile towards them. What!!! This is the Meramac and Forest Park campuses, so obviously the esl program is absolutely the worst, most unfair, demotivating, unorganized, horrible waste of time and money you could possibly be involved in!! $100 a credit, $300 a class!! To be demoralized, not taught and be subjected to incompetent teachers!!! read more

I currently attend Forest Park Community College, and am pretty happy with my experience thus far. I chose my classes because I have a few things to knock-out before I transfer to WashU, and STLCC is a fairly cheap way to do this. This summer I am taking Ceramics, Comp. II, and Macroeconomics. I think my professors, overall, are really great. Even my economics class is pretty fun (it's a night class and I'm still saying that!) The library is large and diverse. I had to go there today and the librarians were so helpful, that two of them helped me at the same time. I've been to other community colleges where the librarians really couldn't care less. Also, as part of your student standing, you are allowed access to hundreds of online research materials. The campus is small and easy to get around. The buildings are organized by letters, and it couldn't be simpler to find your classes. I am taking off one star because the cafeteria is deplorable. When you are in college, one needs adequate nutrition to keep your mind sharp. The food is all fried; the choices are "bar food" at best. If you enroll here, eat before you come to class. read more

I just started here and this is the worst college I've ever been to. My professor is extremely narcissistic, which makes sense because the rest of the staff seems to have an extended sense of self as well and is a terrible teacher. Everyone in the offices are so rude. It's like they're mad at you for wanting to pay them to learn. I wish this wasn't my only option right now. Disorganized and clueless. The departments never talk to each other. The only real help I got was from a student in the bookstore. I signed up for an online accounting class. The professor agreed to help me find a tutor but did nothing. The first exam was scheduled for the day AFTER you could receive a 50% credit. I just graduated from slcc-Forest Park and I have to say the school in general sucks. It's frequently dirty, the people in the financial aid office are rude and not very good at there jobs, (they couldn't tell me how much I should expect to receive in loans), and it takes several hours to be seen. For example I waited 7 hours one time and the loan officer literally yelled at me when I asked if he knew how much longer it would be, this was after I had been called then told to wait untill he returned from the restroom, upon returning from the restroom (I was the only person in the waiting area at the time I was called) he preceeded to call 2 people who walked in after I had been asked to wait again. It was at this time I asked if he knew how much longer it would be because I had a class to go to, he told me "You can leave, just get out of here, I'm not dealing with you". He then told me he was the manager (he was not) when I asked to speak to someone else. Things like that happened frequently, it is almost common-place for them to evacuate classes because someone brings/ finds a "bomb" (think cherry bomb in toilets) or "unidentified backpack". The only good thing about this school was Ms. Cobb, a councelor, and the only one I recommend as everyone else made several mistakes. After 2 years I couldn't wait to get away from the campus. I have always had a great experience with the Admissions department. They were very helpful in assisting me with enrollment. Even though they were very busy, people need to understand that they need to have patience. Some people cause their on problems and turn around and blame it on the college. We as students, need to make sure that we are prepared before going in complaining about stupid issues! I have been in there with some dumbs ass grown/kids and/or parents complaining over issues that ended up being their fault! Smh!! read more

This school is AWFUL. My goodness. First, let's start with the advising center. The people in there have the worst attitudes. Everyone in the school unanimously agrees but takes their bull since we have no choice but to go through them to register for classes. They lose patience quickly, some don't have any in the first place. If you don't know the answer to every last one of their questions, they get visibly and easily frustrated with you. moans, groans, and eye rolls. I leave that place angry and tired every time. they have an inefficient registering system that takes way longer than it should, and you can't get in certain lab classes unless you arrive at 4am like some people who sleep in their cars. They rush you through advising if you don't already have picked out classes, or make you do it yourself when you're obviously there for THEIR help. I couldn't get any college counseling help until I was directed to a special office that the other office workers their don't even know about. The hallways are noisy and feels more like high school again. A lot of the teachers are somewhat incompetent or have their own serious deity complexes expecting the students to devote their entire lives to one class. they also don't alert students if class is canceled, wasting your time and money/gas to get there. Also, your mail from them, ESPECIALLY concerning financial aid takes FOREVER to get to you. What originally may have been a week deadline is now one day. RIDICULOUS. You may have to call by a certain time, and they won't even be there.The midterms and finals are jokes and I guess because of the student body, some teachers really don't have very high expectations for the class. The food is absurdly overpriced ( the vending machines also eat your money, you're not compensated) as well as their books, and the payment system to print is ridiculous as well. 50 cents to BUY a print card, and then you add money to it. Why not change machines like other libraries? Their collection of books are so outdated. I had to research reproductive rights and got nothing post 1995. Nor could I find the book of national scholarships offered OR a ACT prep book. The parking is limited and if you go for culinary and have to take restaurant ops, they make you sell 40 tickets to a dinner, whether you know 40 people or not. You end up having to pay for what isn't sold. It ranges 8-10 dollars a ticket depending on a lunch or dinner times on random days. They don't even consider that a lot of students have STUDENT budgets and may not know 40 people, or people that can come to an assigned lunch time in the middle of the day. People have work and school. The lab classes are too long and we usually end up standing around for an hour when another class could be added to fit more people desperate to get in. If you have to start out here, I wish the best to you and hope you at least take some interesting classes to make this experience tolerable. I see Forest Park, and I'm sure the other campuses, as a place for some folks to go because they think they have to go to to school SOMEWHERE after high school. There aren't enough people who take it seriously, or at least act seriously. PLUS, the no tobacco thing on campus is a joke. People smoke RIGHT outside entrances and exits all the time. Don't waist your time here! No one seems to care! It starts with admission, financial aid and then the instructors. My son graduated from high school 1 year ago and decided to attend St. Louis Community College for their Fire Fighting program! What a nightmare! The first year he attended we had to jump through hoops to get approved for financial aid (I'm a single mom with 2 teenagers). No one communicates with each other at the college didn't seem to know what they were doing. We had to continually fill out paper work, take a number and wait for hours to see someone and then be told we are missing some paperwork and we would have to go back to admissions or financial aid to get it resolved! Standing in line again and again and again! When we finally were able to sign up for classes, there is one gal that can assist you ... and she is volunteer help. She was so angry saying "Look at them drinking coffee, standing around and they are on the payroll! I am volunteer help and overwhelmed"! I looked around and sure enough every that works there was just standing around while students stood in line to be helped! My son finally got all his classes assigned and about 1 month later he received a letter in the mail saying all his classes were dropped because he was missing one piece of paperwork! This happened EVERY semester! Mind you ... we have since left this God awful college. During my son's first year his Fire Fighting course was taught by two instructors. One was great the other made it known that he did not want to be there and did not care. He would let students go home after one hour of instruction, yet this course required 4 hours per day. This course requires you pass 7 exams with a rating of 75% or higher. If not, you are dropped from the class. My son passed all exams, but the last exam mainly because the Instructor decided to cancel the exam review for an entire week while he took his vacation in Mexico! He told the students prior to leaving that he did not care because he was not coming back next year and his mind was on Mexico. When he returned every student in the class failed, so he allowed them to take the test over within an hour. My son passed with a score of 78%, or so he thought ... the Instructor raised the bar to 80% and failed him! My son and I met with the Dean of the college and he was appalled, or so I thought. I could never reach him after that interview as he would not return any phone calls or emails! So, my son had to repeat the course the next semester and fortunately he made the Deans list! But, the next semester he decided he did not feel the Instructors were worth the headache so he chose not to continue his career in Fire Fighting. He always wanted to become a Fire Fighter and St. Louis Community College crushed that dream for him. My son continued one more dreadful semester with STL Com College and we ran into the same issues ... no one seems to care that works there .. more paperwork, no one communicates, and classes are dropped! The final semester he attended we had to appeal for financial aid. We won the appeal, but I had to pay $600+ ahead of time and was told that I would be refunded by financial aid after the semester is over. Then, I get a bill in the mail for an additional $360. I was told because my son did not sign a piece of paperwork that they sent him to his student account (over the summer) we will no longer get the financial aid we were approved for and if I don't pay the $360 amount due my son will be sent to collections! I wonder how many other students have left after their first year at this college ... this college is not worth the time and effort and is very discouraging.
