They have an active staff, excellent programs and everything seemed very organized. This parish is one of the closest parishes to my new home, so I may visit it more in the future. Everyone was very friendly, excited to be there and sweet. We had a visiting Priest say the Mass, Father Paul. Father gave an excellent homily (sermon) on the reading from the Gospel of St. John, (John 4:1-42), when Jesus Christ asked the Samaritan woman at the well for a drink of water. If you take a look at the Scripture, as Fr. Paul explained, you'll see four (4) things happening there: 1) At that time, only the outcasts went to the well at noon, this was because it was the hottest part of the day and nobody wanted to be out in it. The woman was most likely a prostitute. Jesus was waiting at the well for the outcasts and people nobody wanted to be around. 2) Jesus reached out first by asking for a drink of water. Jesus was Jewish and the woman was a Samaritan, at the time, the two peoples did NOT get along! The Samaritans worshiped on the mountain and the Jews in Jerusalem - BIG DIFFERENCE! The two peoples DID NOT MIX! 3) Jesus initiated the dialogue while He was alone with the unknown woman. That was completely unheard of in those days! Women and children were treated as second-class citizens; seen but not heard. This was a signal, of the equality to come, that Jesus Christ would initiate. This is one of the biggest reasons people leave other faiths/religions: the way good, faithful Christian men treat their mothers, sisters, wives and daughters. Women in many parts of the world, and in other religious traditions, aren't treated well or even near equal. Christians are different. 4) The Samaritan woman went into her town, told her people, and they followed her to the well to meet Jesus. After He spoke with them, and stayed with them for 2 days, they accepted Him as the Savior of the World! This was a signal! That the Kingdom of God, was to go way, way beyond the Jewish people and Israel! God's Kingdom was destined for believers to worship Him in spirit and truth! BIG CHANGE ON THE SCENE! Men and women are created as equal people in the eyes of God! Though our bodies are different, men and women are literally designed to fit together - in order to create life! Our Spiritual roles are different yet complimentary to each other. It all balances if you see the bigger picture. We are His plan! Dig it! At each Mass we read a passage from the Old Testament, the Psalms, a New Testament Letter and then a Gospel. It's the most Bible-packed event you'll attend outside of a conference or revival meeting! We also receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ - which is the main reason Catholics attend Mass! It's a free speak, podium for opinions and things that have nothing to do with the Bible. Set through a sermon about abortion and prolife. We had to endure a video of some group that they partner with that they want you to believe is in the best interest of everyone , and then they asked to help raise money for this non-governmental agency. I went there for my kids only to be told that oh they're out of town ( kids programs) this week at a church camp.... No kids program offered that week for kids...,so not only do I not recommend this as a "social gather place" but it's no place for kids. They are far from Christian and simply a group of people that band together thinking that they represent Christ ....they do not preach anything that is Christian. Their buildings look nice and their campus looks nice, but they are far from reality. In my opinion, they are exactly what's wrong with society today. They've lost touch from the Christian way. There's Bible studies and there's sermons and they aren't doing the right thing. They are none of those. These are people that wanna be entertained on Sunday with a rock band and not realize the true meaning of Christ. Churches isn't supposed to be fun. Church is supposed to be about truth. These people wanna be entertained. When you need to be entertained on Sunday, watch football or another sport when you're looking for spiritual leadership don't go here.

Pastor is constantly pointing us towards god & through reading scripture. The funny thing is each time I thank pastor for his guidance he always tells me to thank god & not him. I've never felt the spirit like I continually do at Shepherd of the Valley. Life is hard & the struggles are real everyday but spiritually I keep returning to this church to be refilled weekly and this has made my faith in god stronger . The church family is from all walks of life ( military, nurses, lawyers, teachers, musicians, counselors, artists, construction... those who have homes & those that may be in need of getting help to find a home) all are warm and inviting and you can feel they truly welcome anyone that walks through the doors. We were very disappointed but still have special memories of Dr Burns and my father--business administrator--working together.
