PARENTS BEWARE! PLEASE READ PRIOR TO ENROLLING YOUR CHILD(REN):…read more Prior to enrolling my child here several years ago I did a lot of research on this schools and the districts and found only positive feedback regarding McSwain Elementary. My daughters first years here under a previous staff was beyond amazing! Sadly, within the last couple of years, this school's administrative staff and new principle: Lauren Lanum/Vice Principle: Hector Perez and especially the Superintendent Andrew Kersten have completely lost sight of safety and responsibility for the children who attend this school. My child has experienced both discrimination for medical reasons and had been bullied a total of 8 months within one school year. When dangerous situations occurred and death threats were made upon her life nothing was done to stop it even though adults in charge were notified. My child was told by those in charge to ignore the bullies. My child became so traumatized to the point of wanting to take her own life because of the constant torment. I emailed, called & visited for various administrative help about the dangers and suicidal feelings my daughter was having due to the bullying and no one batted an eye except for the school counselor Vanessa Granados. (Thank goodness for her!) The principle Lauren Lanum could care less. Both she and the superintendent Andrew Kirsten hung my child for a situation they stated they had no malicious proof of. They simply used her as an escape-goat. A Teacher who was supposed to be responsible was never held accountable because thats what the adults do here; they protect one another. The female Coach at this school: Heather Perez allowed bullying and even became involved. Parents over-heard/saw her talking negatively about my child and contacted me to let me know she was involved. When I brought up the comments to the principle she made excuses. This school is like a boys club. If you are a "favorite" you get special attention and privileges. If you are new, bullying is a huge problem. I'm not the only parents child who's been emotionally tortured at McSwain. I'm simply the one who is willing to stand up against bullying and speak my truth and experiences. All other positive posts after mine are simply to throw off the scent of the lies and deception that this school is so wonderful at performing. Guardians Beware!

I go to school there and I really like it there besides all of m past schools I have never got…read morebullied here

Pointless school to attend unless you want your child bullied, and when he is, the faculty/staff…read morewill side with the kids whos parents are donors. Nice, new, shiny campus- but lacks electives a true college prep school would offer. The lack of classes combined with the incompetence of the administration makes this school a waste of money. The principal will reprimand you in front of your child when your child gets in trouble, even if you are trying to correct your child. Tara Humphries is way more qualified to be principal here than the actual principal, as she deals with situations with grace. Anyway, my nephew did nothing wrong, but this racist school which sides with children based on the amount of money their parents have donated made a 4.0 student out to be some bad kid. Save your money, and drive 40 minutes to send your kids to a REAL private high school (modesto christian, central catholic, etc.). Any public school in a 20 mile radius is better than this joke of a school.

Ms. Whitfield is a kindergarten teacher at Pioneer Elementary school for the year 2021 and my…read moreencounter with her is that she is very rude, unprofessional, and defensive when you are talking to her about your child. She reviewed with me about my child's grade report in her class and when I had questioned her about how does she grade in regards to the section that my child completes homework and turns in regularly get an satisfactory (instead of good or outstanding, which are the two higher ratings) because my child turns in his homework every week. Ms. Whitfield responded that my child missed one homework and usually needs help with getting his homework out of his backpack and be reminded to hand it in, due to this, he received a satisfactory. I questioned her that she gave him a N for needs improvement on listening already so I felt that his need for reminders to understand to physically turning in his home works from his backpack shouldn't be counted against him in regards to grading on "turns homework in". She snapped at me angrily that she is not changing the grade and that it is her discretion on grading. I told her that I was just expressing her my view and that it is unfortunate that she had to respond that way to me. I was so upset that this teacher is arguing and lecturing me on the phone so unprofessionally. Never in my life have I met such a teacher who is so unfriendly, especially being a kindergarten teacher. I wish I could take my child out of her class, but my child really enjoys playing with the children in class so much that I don't know what to do. I did inform Mrs. Lomeli, the principal of this incident so that she is aware of this teacher's attitude and personality, however, the principal did not indicate any plan of disciplinary actions for this teacher except to let her know and she did not give me an answer in regards to the grading rubric for my child. I hope to leave this review so that future parents are forewarn on how this teacher to prevent stress for themselves and their child. This makes me wonder how the teacher is in class to all the children.
