But, in my defense, whilst I knew this place was here, I thought it was the cafe at the bottom of the park - which is always packed to the rafters. This place is right at the back of the park near the Blackheath entrance. Usually I don't walk this way. But I'm so pleased i did! Why? Well they do the yummiest ice cream. Jersey cream ice cream. All tasty and lovely and perfect. The queue wasn't a mile long, the service was friendly, and they hadn't run out of strawberry. They're my new favourite people. A double scoop is £3, but then you get to stroll through the park to the deer enclosure eating ice cream, so it's £3 well spent. There's outside seating as well, but why would you want to sit there when you can get some grass between your toes in the sunshine?! Great find. I'll be walking to the park the back way from now on.

Based on a Devon/Cornwall tea room and only five weeks old at the time I visited there is an air of tranquility to the place and community...the two owners were happy to chat new faces as well as regulars. There's also a community noticeboard and a selection of handmade crafts which can be purchased as a reasonable price. I had the Team Room Blend, a popular choice it seems as the following two other people also opted for it, as well as a tea cake. The tea arrived in a proper teapot with cup and saucer and was easily enough for three cups. It was also a lovely blend, not too strong but with a distinct edge to it from your regular English Breakfast. The tea cake was a good size and came with butter which had already been warmed (a wonderful small touch) so was easy to spread. All in all very tasty. I have no doubts that if I lived nearby this would be a regular haunt, but as I'm not I bought a gift voucher for a friend who is and hope she enjoys it as much as I did. Will certainly be going back next time I visit.

I had the teacake, wich was very nice, and if you are willing to take my advice then ask for it to come hot and already buttered to the table; this way the teacake absorbs all the butter and changes texture slightly, which is what you want. Butter on the side just isn't the same. The cake selection also looked great and I'm planning to try a few next. They have a cute little garden at the back, it was a bit too cold to sit outside on that day, but if sunny I'd totally go for that spot. :)

This place is an old family bookstore that was then turned into a wonderful spot for afternoon tea {with still carrying on the feel and look of a quaint book shop}. Reservations are required since it is only large enough for two, maybe three seatings at a time. Once your party is seated, you will receive your menu and decide on the Tea menu that you desire {how many Teas, Sandwiches, Cakes and Scones - with a wide variety of each}. Would you prefer a Coffee, a Smoothie or a Salad? No worries, they have those options as well. Be sure to inform your host about any allergies as they can customize your tea settings based on any restrictions. The Hubs and I decided on the Tea For One - This included a pot of Earl Grey {or your tea of choice}, a selection of five Mini Tea Sandwiches which may vary {ours included Cream Cheese, Chive and Cucumber / Mature Cheddar and Chutney / Ham, Rocket and Red Onion Marmalade / Ham with Mayo, Mustard and Tomato / Chicken with Cucumber and Lemon Mayo Chutney}, Scones topped with a Delicious, Mouth-Watering Cream and Strawberry & Raspberry Jams as well as Lemon Cake and Mini Chocolate Eclairs. Each guest will also be served a deliciously tangy glass of lemonade as a final sip for the afternoon. Every single bite and sip of tea was perfectly paired and the experience was a wonderful way to spend our last day in London with the family. I highly recommend this experience if you want to feel a little extra fancy and enjoy a spectacular afternoon tea.

My mom and I had the full afternoon tea and we ordered two cream teas for my kids. Everyone absolutely loved it. We did ask for more hot water, which did not materialize, but I think we were all done by then anyway. They will pack up the left-overs for you to take home without any fuss. They also have a nice little gift shop. Parking might be a challenge if school is in session and about to let out as there is only street parking and a school across the road.

Unfortunately, every tea shop we hit was closed because of some bank holiday we were unaware of. Except one! We got to Glynde, parked outside this tea shop, went in, and found a large sign that said "cash only". OMG this wasn't our day. We had to go to the next town over to use the ATM which sucked, but we weren't in any hurry and we really liked the look and feel here. We came back, got seated, opened the menu, and right at the top it said afternoon tea available with reservation only. We were devastated. I saw the look in my wife's eye and there was no way I was not getting her this afternoon tea! I approached the woman working and explained our situation and before I could even fight for the experience she told me not to worry, she would get us taken care of. BLESS HER! We had a wonderful visit and would recommend the experience to everyone in the area. Fast forward to this year. I knew how much my wife loved that visit and decided to reach out and ask if they had any ideas of what I could get her for her birthday this year. Joanne reached back out with an amazing gift and shipped it to us and it amazingly arrived on her birthday! She also included a nice birthday card for her! I have several food intolerances so when asking about the ingredients in their homemade cakes I got a message back via the waitress that she can't guarantee the cakes were free from what I was intolerant to. As people with food intolerances are always ending up having to go without gorgeous food, I asked if I could have more detail of what was in the cakes so I could make a decision on what it was I could or couldn't eat, just in case there was something I could have. This was very obviously an inconvenience to the waitress and the manager who had baked them. She tried again to say she couldn't guarantee anything because obviously this was the quickest way to solve the issue for herself, but after explaining that I'd like to try to see if there was something I could eat, it was again very plain that I was wasting her time. It was late afternoon and they weren't busy, so I would have appreciated a couple of minutes of her time without the attitude. After finding out there was indeed a piece of cake I could eat, I sat down to enjoy it only to be served it with more attitude by the waitress. If she could have got away with grunting at me I sure she would have! I unfortunately had to ask for a pot of hot water as the tea didn't come with one, and AGAIN got a look saying 'are you bothering me again?!'. Cleanliness was also not great with tea-stained table clothes, dying roses on the table, and also dust on the teapot holding the roses which was next to an open sugar bowl which no doubt had the same amount of dust in it! Also, amazingly, a dog walking around the kitchen area with it's bed behind the serving counter!! (Yes, I am about to inform environmental health dept!!) Lastly, my table was being cleared before I had finished. I did notice however, that the other table still in there didn't have their table touched, so I'm guessing that was a touch of nastiness from the waitress also. I was there looking for a place to take 18-20 friends for my birthday which is coming up soon as we fancied a gorgeous afternoon tea, but we will definitely be going somewhere else after that experience!
