I've been in this store a handful of times when I'm on my way to breakfast or the farmer's market on weekends. They always have an interesting window display, and I often find something interesting in there at a fair price, usually clothes. They also typically have a fair selection of books, toys, seasonal items and vintage jewelry and knickknacks. It's a mini-sized thrift, but a cute & fun place to check out. The ladies who work there are always enthusiastic & nice too. It's just a pleasant place to browse & find a treasure. Nice little thrift store. Small and one central aisle and two side aisles. The books are $1 and $2, they have some nice business and leadership books. We got two books that will help us in our roles. I've been going to this thrift store for years...but it has changed a lot over the past year and not in a good way unfortunately. Higher prices/lower quality items and even worse, are the TERRIBLE attitudes from the women that work there. I just left the store and was so rudely spoken to when I asked what the price of something was (was not clearly marked), and heard the same cashier give attitude to an older women with a question, and then when she decided not to buy the item and placed it on the counter, the cashier yelled at her "would be great if you could hang it back up in the back of the store" as she was walking out. Her tone was so rude/disrespectful. Think this visit might be the last. After hearing that, I turned around and put my dress back and left the store. Posting on behalf of my friends: two Latinas who entered the store: My friend and I experienced racism from this store. When we got there we waited until the store could let us in because they were minding limited capacity regulations due to Covid. However while they made us wait a few white womxn customers were allowed to go in. Perhaps it was carelessness, but when I stepped a few steps inside to ask if their capacity changed because other customers walked in, they motioned for me to go outside. That's when I felt uncomfortable but my friend and I let it slide. When we were inside we found blazers and there were signs to not try on the clothes. However, a staff person was allowing and giving praise to a white customer trying on her jackets and outer ware so my friend and I decided to try on the blazer. We thought it meant no trying on clothes in the dressing room but over our clothes it was okay since there were other customers doing it. We already felt like we were being hovered over but as soon as we did that a staff person told us to stop even when the other customer had just finished right in front of us! We were appalled. Lastly, one customer (white) was allowed to negotiate price and when I tried to do the same I was shut down with no explanation. Overall we experienced double standards and it was a very unpleasant experience to say the least read more

Found some excellent novels here, in very good condition. Books are only $1 for paperback and $2 hard cover, a great deal. Love that proceeds go to helping the community. Decent selection of women's clothing, not much in men's and children's clothing. read more

Bought like new madewell jeans for 10$ and almost bought lee jeans for 6$ (don't know why I didn't). Then went to another thrift shop where the same jeans were over 40. I think that speaks for itself. Every thrift store is a hit or miss but I found lots of jeans that were in such good condition for under 15. read more

Worst customer service. The older woman was very rude and cruel. All the items are basically straight from goodwill. Not worth it.

Went here a couple months back and got some great pieces. They had a good selection of books so I purchased a couple of those, as well as a pair of designer boots and a really cute handbag. I almost didn't want to rate this thrift store so I could keep it to myself. ;) Needless to say, this is one of my favorite thrift stores and a massive hidden gem. I walked by it a million times on Main Street because it doesn't initially look like much; and indeed, my first time here I just perused and it didn't leave much of an impression. I fell in love with this place when I took my little sister on a "thrift store tour" of the westside, and we both had the most amazing luck. My sister found her new favorite pair of jeans (Free People) for $10, and I found a Diesel top for $2. She found another few tops for under $10 each, and I found an ADORABLE pair of unworn blue heels for $12 and some 7 For All Mankind jeans for $8. I also ALMOST bought a $25 grey leather jacket - Bebe, real leather, no visible wear - but ended up not getting it since I just bought a very similar one the week before (for $275, might I add). There is no other thrift store in LA with prices this good, and thrifting is a huge hobby of mine. As we checked out, the woman at the front told us how all the fancy houses in the Santa Monica Palisades donate to this store. I was not surprised! This is now our 'holy grail' of thrift stores, and my sister refers to it as "that amazing one" when she forgets the name. :) Like all thrift stores, it'll have "good" or "bad" days... but I have overwhelming luck here an unfair majority of the time. read more

I absolutely LOVE this thrift shop. It has such a variety of items, and as with every thrift shop: it IS a matter of timing. But I always find something I need, be it baby clothes, trinkets, an outfit or a pair of shoes. And to know that the money goes to a good cause.....that's an added bonus! The staff there are kind and patient. They ARE busy, but they will show you around and suggest items that match or accessorize what you're buying. I found some great bargains here! I love their designer jeans and shoes/boots - some of the prices are a little high, but usually for good styles - hunt and you can find some real deals. This is actually St. Matthews Thrift Shop, not the church! It's a small place that I used to frequent; I think it has been here for 40 years or so. Tends to be overpriced, in my opinion. Not a place for furniture because they don't have the room. I have acquired some interesting things here; good collectibles pass through but are quickly snatched up because the shop is in a location that gets tons of foot traffic. This is another tragic story of a thrift store that noticed the effects of the popularity of thrifting in hipster culture but didn't really do anything except raise the prices. I understand that it's on a decently popular street and rent is high, but the quality of the items as well as the quantity do not match how much they charge per item. If I wanted to pay $15 for a picture frame, I'd take my tuchus to a department store or TJ Maxx and get a brand new one. I noticed that the old reviews praised this shop quite highly, but I'm sad to say that the store no longer matches the poetic waxing of its heyday. Perhaps the management will take a hint from the reviews to do more stocking, a bit of cleaning up and a lowering of the prices to attract more revenue. I do hope they improve because I'm such a fan of thrift shops and what they do for communities/non-profits! read more

Small, clean, and has dressing room which is a plus. Clothes organized by colors. I guess for me, prices are more than i'm willing to spend. I saw a couple of dress i liked but they were $25 and $40. They weren't in designer racks either. They had a pink tag sale but there were hardly any pink items. If i wanted to spend more money then this is a nice thrift store. There were several items over my range of what I'd pay at a thrift store, like many yelpers have mentioned. And it's a very small store so selections are limited. But I was able to get a sweater for $2 and kids books for 50cents each. You just have to dig in there and find the hidden jem. read more

I spend a lot of time in California and I try make a point every time to at least stop in and see what's to be had at this particular shop. I think their prices are fair, their staff has been very friendly to me, and I have found some really great treasures there. They obviously have some good donators! I shop thrift stores all over the country & this is one of my favorites. Great location, adequate parking, and a good cause. It appears that items are carefully selected for condition and they don't sell junk. I can go in there and know that I am getting a working item, a piece of clothing without a broken zipper or tears, or even a puzzle with all the pieces. The volunteers that run it are always very helpful and I love the local causes they support with their takings. Furthermore, the quality of the items in there can be very impressive. The store is full of hidden treasures and a great place to find the most surprising bargains. In fact, I once bought a piece of jewellery which I resold for about 500x what I paid. And more recently I've fitted up my new apartment with furniture and utensils direct from their window. They also do excellent sales the last week of each month - but be aware, as with many thrift stores, timing is everything. read more

I was stared down when I entered the store and my appearance was fine, basically neat, casual and contemporary. I thought "what is this; it's a thrift store"? I had a very difficult time donating to this establishment. The people that work here are very unfriendly. The woman in the back was trying to put me to work. She wanted me to organize and consolidate for her the items I brought in. She also tried to get me to bring a stack of boxes down the alley and to the dumpster for her. I had a toddler with me and a shopping cart that I was using to bring in my donation items. (Please note, there is no parking lot. As such, you either have to park on the street or in the alley.). There are steps that you have to go up to get to the alley where the dumpster was. I honestly could not believe the woman had no qualms asking a mom with a toddler, shopping cart, and several tote bags to carry a stack of boxes down the alley to the dumpster for her! When I told the woman no, she gave me attitude and took her time giving me the donation slip. I have never encountered this type of attitude at Good Will. This donation location is already very difficult to get to. With this attitude, there is no way I will donate to this establishment again. read more

I shop there when I'm going to the Farmers' Market because they are now open on Sundays! New merchandise comes in daily and the women and men who volunteer there are super nice and know their regular customers. They care for the neighborhood. Been there since 1957!
