    behold the Manolos....

Updating my review from October '04.....five years have passed, how time flies! And I'm adding a star because this thrift shop seriously rocks. (The Out of the Closet location across the street is gone now, it should be noted. And...my original review is short because in the very early days of Yelp we were limited to just a couple sentences. So yeah, times have changed....) UCLA Thrift can be a bit pricey, but it's clean and well-organized and chock full of designer duds. I've seen outstanding vintage furniture here, but yesterday I saw nothing interesting in the way of home decor. Like all thrift shops, it's hit or miss. They did have a crapload of CDs that were getting picked through by a bunch of shoppers. In fact, the place was crowded, and there was a small line at the cash register. There's always a good selection of jewelry here, and always a lot of nice ladies shoes. http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/qWCh4zwYjtqh2sRFseLctA/l Yesterday I spotted Manolo Blahniks that looked like they'd never been worn. I think they were $95 bucks, though, about a size 8. http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/Sus47jIGoM6n1k3A3ooOlw/l A white Tahari blazer called to me, and when I tried it on it fit perfectly. I paid 25 bucks for it, can't wait to wear it. Other sightings were: Seven jeans for 30 bucks (they're cheap at TJ Maxx, too). http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/WT98Mks0BBLz6HYortIUcA/l And pink leather Frye boots, also for 30 bucks. Dang it I shoulda bought those..... There's a men's clothing section here, too, http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/mo5eS09Z_E1VE5m8saT5PA/l but the women's clothes are by far the main attraction. http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/p_rQFKpzlgEYCyzEWoXL-w/l The donations come from celebs & others who live in nearby Bel Air and Bev Hills. It's good stuff, I never leave empty-handed despite my best efforts to control my enthusiasm...... As long as you're there, walk diagonally across the intersection and check out the shop's annex. It's a small space with children's stuff & more home furnishings. http://www.yelp.com/biz/ucla-thrift-store-los-angeles-2#hrid:e_B92-pikIfEBpbxi-ozVQ/src:self Metered parking surrounds the shop, so bring quarters. Both the main shop and the annex are closed Sundays & Mondays. Hours are: Tuesday - Friday 10 - 4, and Saturday from 10 - 3. They do take credit cards, fortunately for me.....haha.....

Higher quality and priced items such as footwear and handbags are locked in a case. It's a clean store without the unpleasant musty odor from some thrift stores. The clothing section looked appealing although I didn't understand the pricing system with different colored plastic tags. You can shop online with the posted QR code. I love how clear their charitable mission is, from the entrance glass greeting to the donation boxes and listed of most needed items in front of the clothing rack. I found the back parking lot too crowded with display fixtures and collection containers to park. Street parking available although there was an uneasy amount of litter on Missouri where I parked. I didn't buy anything but I'd give it another try because of the reasonable prices.

One of them, which is the lawsuit potential, was wearing rollerskates in the store and came out from behind the counter in them as if that's just how one does business. Hey, if his safety, and my safety aren't a concern then I really don't need to be shopping there. I say that because there was a ton of stuff on the floor. I won't be donating there anymore either. The whole experience was not good. If they can't be bothered to clean the place up and be available to customers then I can't be bothered to spend money there. 3-23-2025 1:50pm

Reasonable price mostly though it can definitely be better. If they can price some things lower it'll move the items more. That said I always have a fun time here even just browsing if I don't find anything.

The store has a strict no-return policy which I didn't know about, even for non-functional electronics and that creates a catch-22 situation. Electronics are sold without power cables, so you're expected to buy the item first, then purchase a compatible cable separately--only to discover afterward that the item is defective. At that point, you're stuck. When I brought the item back, the sales clerks were dismissive and unnecessarily rude. One of them literally said, "I can't and won't help you," instead of just explaining store policy. What made this even more frustrating is that the same item was back on the shelf a week later, which raises serious concerns about how defective products are handled. Poor customer service and questionable practices. Proceed with caution before buying anything electronic here.

Much needed and long overdue RAVE REVIEW of this team!!!…read more Love love this location. Emily store manager IS FANTASTIC!! She went out of her to speak to me about their consignment options, which is top notch. I've sold a couple of Gucci and other designer bags I got a really great deal and they sold quickly And Emily #2 also spent a lot of time helping my price another round of designer bags. She's super professional, knowledgeable and a kick-butt multitasker. Everyone there, Olivia, Hayden and Dylan are all very sweet and take good care of your clothing while looking through for buys. Which I really appreciate. The store is always very clean, organized and easy to find treasures. Always a great deal and a ton of fun. Thank YOU Everyone!!! Highly recommend!!

I forget every time that I shop at any crossroads that these stores are designed for skinny, "fit" women. God forbid you have a chest size over a B cup or hips wider than 30 inches. This store is about 1/3 mens, 1/2 womens size XS-M, and 1/6 womens L and XL. The ratio of sizes in womens clothing has such a disparagement that it's almost exponential. Almost everything that is displayed on the walls for decoration is either small or x-small. The store's content is very indicative of the type of people that it caters to, which is unfortunate.
