Where to begin? * You can choose from three weekend services, all having their own "flavor." The Saturday night service is casual and family oriented and provides dinner afterward. Early Sunday morning is traditional and liturgical, with hymns and the pipe organ. Late Sunday morning is contemporary music with a praise team. * Lutheran theology is the BEST. I've never been to a church that so frequently (and rightly) puts the gospel at the center of everything. You will hear about Jesus Christ in every sermon! Middle schoolers must be confirmed; this requires three years of attending Wednesday night classes taught by the pastor himself. Of course there are Sunday school classes and an active youth ministry with a full-time youth director. Additionally, its VBS is renowned in the area with typically 400 children in attendance; it uses materials from www.answersingenesis.org * Most importantly, the church runs its own accredited Lutheran school serving children from preschool through 8th grade (see its separate Yelp listing, https://www.yelp.com/biz/st-michael-lutheran-school-portage). Our son is a SMLS graduate! St. Michael's also operates a year-round day care center for infants through preschoolers called Christ for Kids. * There are many other ministries at St. Michael's. Small groups meet in members' homes. There is a Stephen Ministry serving people who are grieving or struggling with other problems. The church has "adopted" a tiny isolated village in Northern Canada and sends a ministry team there throughout the year. There is something for everyone at St. Michael's!
