Our Cultural group was invited here for the Flores de Mayo. It is a traditional religious festival honoring The Virgin Mary. The mostly Filipinos in the Hercules/Pinole area worked together to bring this tradition here. Small kids mostly from St Patrick's School graced the event. Of course my son was part of this event. There were also people from different cultures in the event and wore their traditional outfits. The procession started from the church and walked around the neighborhood. It was nice to see the different traditional gowns/outfits showcased in the parade. The volunteers were plentiful directing the traffic and making sure the parade stay on course. The parents and families were busy taking pictures. The talented musician at the very back with the Virgin Mary statue was amazing. When the parade came back, the mass started. The church wasn't very big but had a lot of natural light. The church choir was impressive too. The mass was very organized and the Priest was very engaging and nice. My son enjoyed the mass as the Priest would walk to them and address them during the sermon. The mass ended and the gathering started. There was a lot of food, buffet style and several dance performances started. There were singers too including the Priest. What a great evening! If you're looking to buy or rent a home in the area. Just know that you have a great church and a great community who welcome different cultures. I know some people here too and they're warm and friendly and we're not from the neighborhood. We were like strangers at one point too but found them very welcoming.

    Church!

I will say from other people's review about this church it does have a ratio of Filipino/a's attending mass here.

This is a great church to attend point blank period. I've visited many times and I always get…read moretreated the same way. Pastor Anthony Hodge is a great man and an awesome leader. He has experienced life first hand and has obtained the tools to living a faith filled life !! I don't think that anyone can combine politics with the church but since I've viewed opinions of Pastor Hodge on other reviews I'll feel free to comment ........ the little old lady that you all speak of was rude and extremely disrespectful, racist and in my very own words a complete ass. She raised her voice and yelled and when she was corrected for acting the way she did, she did. Not like it. Honestly Pastor Hodge handled the situation and was calm the entire time and he was not escorted out he left! What I've learned is that some people don't like to be corrected for their wrong doing and she was clearly one of those types of people. I'm glad Pastor Hodge corrected her instead of someone else it could have gone another way ! Needless to say don't issue out something that you can't take little old lady (whom is the real wolf in sheep clothing)! Come to Zion Hill you won't be let down!

It amazes me how people use social media to slander people when they don't have all of the facts…read more Now, lets clear the false statements made about Pastor Hodge. He DID NOT call anyone out of their name nor was he escorted out of the building. I think people forget that Pastors are Men FIRST and they are human with feelings. Him voicing his opinion DOES NOT make him any less of a Christian. In case you didn't know, there are NO PERFECT CHRISTIANS. Besides, what you two ladies wrote doesn't give you any room to pass judgement nor make you any better. The bible talks about judging others in Matthew 7. Please let me share SOME of the things Pastor Hodge has done for the community: host annual block party, feed the homeless/community, assist homeless in finding shelter, walk the streets of Bayo Vista housing development, holiday meals, toys/backpack for the kids. He's a VERY caring Pastor with a BIG HEART, who teaches the Word of God. Please take the time to visit Zion Hill for Sunday School @ 9:30 am or Morning Worship @ 11 am. I know you will receive a blessing. ZION HILL trouble is trying to roll in and strike, but the PINSETTER came and sweep us back together as WE STAND JOINTLY FRAMED TOGETHER!!!!
