Today I went Saint Patrick's thrift shop in Larkspur. It was a beautiful day and its a treat to visit the quant upscale town of Larkspur. Thankfully it still feels like a small town. I appreciate that St. Patrick's has a parking lot! A rare find, especially because parking can be challenging on the street. Always a lovely selection of art, table settings, books, jewelry, vintage items without inflated prices. read more

Nice quaint thrift store supporting the church. Found a cute clear bowl from France for 1 and my sister found a red leather bottle holder gift bag for 3 brand new. That was a steal. Lafy behind the counter very nice and sweet in helping us with our purchase. Even though I only spent a buck she treated me like I spent a million. I'll be back next time in town. read more

As a senior couple downsizing from a large house full of generational accumulations, being able to donate items from French antique furniture to an exercycle, embroidered vintage tablecloths to coat hangers, unused greeting cards to office supplies, is such a boon. And while letting go of many of these things has been bittersweet, knowing that their sale benefits St. Patrick's School and Parish, as well as finds them new use in appreciative homes in the community, brings us tremendous comfort and cheer. We cannot thank the team of volunteers enough, especially the St. Patrick's Dads with trucks and muscle for moving a number of items to the shop. It lifts the heart to work with caring folks. St. Patrick's Thrift Shop in Larkspur is a joy of a place to find special people and surprisingly interesting, affordable and often vintage things, many with unique stories. THIS thrift store is AMAZING!!! If you are in the area, while I don't want to tell you to come here, it's a must!!! This place is legit. The prices are where exactly they should be and the quality of items here are what every thrifter is looking for. This is my forever store when I'm in the area! The women are also fantabulous! High quality items at fair prices. And there's a parking lot (which is actually important in Larkspur). Small but good selection of men's shirts, and sometimes good men's suits - and in a wide range of sizes. The people who work there are always nice, too. read more

Although their clothes selection is slim, they have really nice things priced around $8 to $25. Most of the items are name-brand and hardly worn. Like the saying goes, one man's junk is another man's treasure. If you are stopping by here, hit up Sugar Magnolia too. They are just a block away and have a bigger selection of women's clothing. read more

Fun fun fun! I love looking through the eclectic selection here... and of course, all cheap. I am amazed so much as to how inexpensive this stuff is.... and it really makes me think more about what I spend money on -- I am so sure that the guy who spent $100 on that "really cute" bookshelf and then 6 months later, left it here, and sees it now selling for $10 or $20 is re-thinking that purchase. I am too. But not to get too philosophical.... browsing here is awesome and I can't help dropping a few dollars every few weeks for something cool. read more

Met all my thrifting needs - excellent selection of kids books and art supplies, VERY reasonably priced. Like a dime each. You do not find this every day! Small selection of baby & kids clothes not incredibly well organized. Small but nice collection of women's clothes, career stuff, a Lilly sundress, good coats (some of which were priced more like a consignment store at $25). I like a sweet seasonal display, and indeed they had an Easter tableau and goods to buy. I'll definitely be back. read more

I went to this little hidden gem for the first time yesterday and totally cleaned up! There are no clothes here: it's not that kind of a shop. Come to this place for home wares and books and general nick nacks. Nearly everything here is donated by people of the church, and a lot of it is really nice and SUPER cheap. I just moved into a new place, and see no reason to pay full price for pots and pans and bowls when I can find them here for $.50 - $1. I bought a beautiful, barely used coffee maker for $1. It still had the instructions with it. I'm not kidding; this place is SOOO much cheaper than Goodwill and the lady there was super friendly and helpful. The hours are from 11-3 in the middle of the day, and keep in mind that it's run by all volunteers. They are simply trying to make a little extra cash to support their church. I walked out of that place with two boxes FULL of stuff for $15. You can't beat that with a stick! read more

My wife and I visited this thrift store today, and I'll never go back. We walked in the front door. I went toward the back, looking at books, cd's, men's clothes, etc. My wife stayed at the front of the store looking at items on a display rack. I walked up to her and we began to walk together back into the store. The lady working the counter gave my wife a look over the top of her glasses and told her she'd need to leave her purse at the counter. The purse, or bag, is large but it's meant to be a purse. She carries it everywhere else we go. We're in our 40's, we look middle class, we act that way. I felt like a high school student suspected of shoplifting. I'm too old and life is too short for this kind of treatment. I give this store my lowest possible recommendation. Anyone who treats my wife like trash is trash in my book. My favorite thrift store! I can always find some kind of treasure here. A wonderful mix of quality items at fair prices - plus the volunteers are so friendly! I've found great kitchen items, old fashion gifts, neat artwork, seasonal items, clothes (on occasion), baby items, books, and more. Exceptionally rude counterperson on the Wednesday afternoon (7/3/11) that I visited. I realize that a volunteer staff is tough to deal with sometimes, but really, you folks would be better of staying closed on Wednesdays than turning this poor unhappy soul loose on the rest of the world. read more

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure that St. Patrick was the patron saint of high quality hand me downs. This is a lighter, brighter version of the Mt. Carmel Salvage Shop in Mill Valley (see that review) and I swear, the same little old ladies work at both stores. They are sweet as can be, and always open to chatting or sharing a story or two. The front display windows are awesome, whoever creates them must be a former retail window designer in Manhattan! Display items are themed, like nautical, Paris, vintage nursery, historical Fourth of July, retro kitchen, and so on. The true antiques can be a little pricey, but treasures abound if you take the time to sift through the tidy shelves and racks. If you're a fan of paperback beach reads, be sure to poke around in the little back room. The shop has a small parking lot that can be a little tricky to get in and out of, but street parking is easy (and the crosswalk in front of the store is charmingly well-respected). Cash and local checks only (just like the good ol days). A LITTLE BIRD TIP: Window items are displayed for 3 weeks, then sold on Mondays at 1:30 on a first come, first served basis (it's not uncommon for people to line up on the on-sale date to get first dibbs on the goods). read more
