All four of us visited and toured several facilities both in Northern and Southern CA. We wanted to find a place for dad that we felt comfortable live in ourselves. Dad had been living in Northern CA for most of his life, so when my husband and I visited Cloisters (several times), and had met with Tia and other staff members, we felt that it would be the best fit for him, it was still a big leap of faith as it was major move for dad at such an advanced age. Now it has been 3+months and dad has fully adjusted to the facility, met new friends and very much enjoying his new home. Always greeting you with warm smile, Tia is the driving force that keeps everything going the right direction, but each and every person that we have had the pleasure of meeting so far have been caring, attentive and a joy to know. We usually visit dad twice a day every day, so we don't miss much. We would like to specially recognize Marlene who has been exceptionally careful when she is showering dad who had a foot surgery recently. Just last week we celebrated dad's 98th birthday with a cake for everyone at Cloisters. My favorite aspect of the facility is that every room has a view, and most rooms have a private patio access to an immaculately maintain garden brimming with roses, cannas, bougainvillea, many shady trees, hummingbirds and butterflies and many pollinators flitting about, that would cheer up the gloomiest of moods. Call button for assistance wasn't working (and never checked) Lack of communication between the doctors and staff - caused a handful more "falls" that should have happened. More visits to the ER than anyone should have had. Doctors testing orders ignored, even asking over and over. Promises of "checking on my dad every 2 hours" were ignored and not ever implemented. 2 of us were there everyday and still could not get the quality of care and dignity that my dad deserved and needed. We were lied to daily and staffing numbers were under the mandated requirements. I would not put my worst enemy in Ridgeview. Be very vigilant before putting your loved one here.

Harborview Senior Assisted Living exceeded my expectations…read more After an increasing number of falls and associated hospitalizations, I was no longer able to care for my 91 year old mother at my home. She didn't want to have to move into an institution and I didn't want her in one either. However I also didn't want her in a place so small there wasn't activities and stimulation. I'm so happy that with the help of a placement guide we found HarborView. It's a beautiful mansion with manicured gardens set on a hill overlooking the stunning San Diego Bay that has 30 residents, a full staff and daily activities. After moving in we quickly found out that the staff is what really makes this place special. They are loving, attentive, respectful, courteous, caring and fun. There are always lots of smiles, laughter and music to enjoy as well as good food and the highest quality of care. I cannot recommend this place more. HarborView Senior Assisted Living was truly an answer to our prayers. It was the perfect place for my beloved mother's final days. It is a beautiful loving caring home, not an institution. She has left us now, but she was both blessed and enriched by the love and care she received from their wonderful staff. I, and all of our family, was blessed by them as well. Thank you HarborView.

My mom is on hospice and she goes there for a respite care which gives me a little bit of a break…read morefor five days. We've gone there a few times and staff and nurses are real nice. They have a nice space where you can have lunch outside of your room if you want to they have a nice little patio that the caretaker that I have going there too will take my mom out for a walk in a wheelchair I highly recommend this place if you are recovering from a surgery. Any CA location is difficult with traffic, but the open spaces, daily access to outdoors, short trips to the beach, and mini concerts are a special touch.

One of my favorite responsibilities is running the library. Reading has always been one of my greatest passions, and caring for the library keeps my mind active while allowing me to share that love with others. The friendships I have made here are truly priceless. I enjoy sharing meals, attending activities, and spending time with people who have become like sisters to me. I also appreciate the many opportunities to stay healthy and active. My daily exercise classes, weekly balance class, Mahjong games, Texas Hold'em, Jeopardy, and Password sessions all keep both my body and mind engaged. I especially enjoy the wonderful outings and special events, like the Belmont Village Olympics, which create so many fun memories. To end each week, I look forward to Friday evening Shabbat services lead by my dear friend, Beryl Bosher, here at Belmont Village. Gathering with this special group of Jewish women and men provides comfort, friendship, and a meaningful way to begin the Sabbath together. Deeply Disappointed with Belmont Village Sabre Springs…read more I'm very disappointed with the care and concern my mother received at Belmont Village Sabre Springs. She was often left waiting 30-40 minutes just to be taken to the dining room for meals -- a situation that happened frequently and caused her significant distress. Eventually, I had to purchase her an electric wheelchair just so she could get to meals on time. But the biggest disappointment came when I was informed -- without warning or any meaningful discussion -- that her monthly rate would jump from $5,950 to $6,370 and then suddenly to over $10,000 a month. I was told this was due to a "reassessment," which felt more like an excuse to justify a massive rate hike than a genuine evaluation of her needs. I attempted to speak with the Director, Tracy Knepple, about this unreasonable increase, but I was met with rudeness and unprofessionalism. I was treated with complete disregard and disrespect, despite being a concerned family member trying to advocate for my mother's care and well-being. As a result, I made the decision to move my mom to a new facility -- one where she is now thriving and no longer has to worry about inconsistent care or unexpected financial strain. I strongly urge anyone considering Belmont Village Sabre Springs to look very carefully at how they handle both care and communication. In our experience, they failed on both fronts.

They have meals, physical therapy, laundry service and the patients are cared for and respected. My past experience with rehabs and skilled nursing facilities has not been good. Granted the facilities were in Riverside and San Bernadino County, not San Diego. St Paul's is excellent. The building is older, but the staff are top notch, the place is clean and everyone is cared for. There is a check in kiosk inside the door. The nurses are helpful to visitors as well as their patients. Visiting hours are 8am to 7pm ish. Thank you for taking great care of my friend. I look forward to seeing my friend home soon.

My 91 year old mother has been a resident there for more than 3 years and my experience with a majority of the staff and Esabel Cano in particular has been very positive. I live in New Jersey and am unable to see my mother more than a few times a year. I rely on Esabel and the other staff like Rosa, Sol, Randy and the other nurses and CNA's to not only provide compassionate medical care for my mother but to also to ensure that her day to day living is as pleasant as possible. My mother can be a very difficult and demanding person that requires an enormous amount of patience. Without going into the gory details, I will just say that anyone that can deal with her is a saint. They are always sensitive and caring to her and keep me informed on her situation regularly. I must also so that I have been extremely impressed with the precautions that the facility have put in place to ensure the safety of residents during this pandemic. While it is difficult for families not to be able to see their love ones, I for one am very grateful that visitors are no longer permitted in the facility. Their proactive and well-thought out plan for protecting residents should be applauded. It is pretty amazing that not one patient has contracted the virus. In normal situations, these jobs are difficult. The staff are putting their lives at risk every day and I for one, am extremely grateful.

We really appreciated our two thorough visits with Nurse Robin and our tours of the facility with Sarah. Both the entire facility and the vacant room are very clean, peaceful, and inviting. While it was a very tough decision, we have decided to postpone our move for now. However, we will certainly consider Montera again when we are ready.

My mother lived at The Montera in Assisted Living from May 2024 until she was forced to leave in…read moreMay 2026. I want to acknowledge that many of the caregivers and staff were kind, compassionate, and truly cared about her. My concerns are with the administration and management and the newly hired director, Karinna. My mother has dementia, but she is high functioning. Not only was this my opinion, but numerous staff members commented on how independent she was compared to other residents. She has poor short-term memory and occasional confusion, but she was significantly more independent than every Memory Care resident and even most residents in Assisted Living. The Montera announced that care level pricing would be increasing but never informed me that my mother's care level had been changed from Level 1 to Level 2. I only discovered this after seeing a document I had to sign with an unexpected increase of approximately $600 per month. There was never a meaningful discussion with Karinna explaining why her care level had changed or what additional services she would be receiving. In reality, nothing about her care changed--only the cost--along with having to deal with this dismissive and patronizing new director. The justification given by Karinna was that staff administered her medications twice a day. However, this had been her medication schedule for the entire previous year and was already part of the care they had been providing. In an effort to reduce costs, I worked closely with her physician to consolidate her medications into one daily administration. Unfortunately, that change was not medically appropriate and did not work well for my mother. As soon as I began the process of returning her to the medication schedule that best supported her health, management showed no patience or willingness to allow time for the transition. Instead, I was told by Karinna that she would have to move to Memory Care or leave the community. Memory Care would have increased her monthly cost by another approximately $2,200. More importantly, I strongly believed--and still believe--that moving her to Memory Care would have been detrimental to her well-being. She was thriving in Assisted Living, remained socially engaged, and functioned at a much higher level than residents in Memory Care. Unfortunately, management seemed far more focused on administrative policies and money than on what was actually in my mother's best interest. Families deserve transparent communication, thoughtful collaboration, and individualized care decisions. Instead, I experienced poor communication, unexpected cost increases, and an ultimatum that left our family with no reasonable option other than to move her. If you are considering The Montera for a loved one, I encourage you to ask detailed questions about how care levels are determined, what specifically triggers changes, how those decisions are communicated, and whether those decisions truly reflect a resident's needs. The Montera I experienced in 2024 was not the same Montera my family experienced in 2026. Since the change in executive leadership (Karinna), the culture appears to have shifted away from individualized care and toward administrative policies and financial decisions. That change ultimately cost my mother her home. I would like to end on a positive note because there are truly exceptional people who work here. Jackie and Brianna at the front desk were always incredibly patient, welcoming, and kind to my mother. Melody always brought the fun, laughter, positivity, perseverance, and genuine compassion into my mom's life, and I will always be grateful for the difference she made. I also want to recognize Aileen, whose knowledge, guidance, and willingness to help us through difficult decisions meant so much to our family. These remarkable women are the reason my mother had any positive experiences and WHY they get a second star at The Montera. I sincerely hope the administration recognizes and values employees like them, because they are the heart of this community.
