Having Father Devdas is such a blessing. In less than a year he has made tremendous strides to make this place more welcoming. The music is excellent, the message is unabashedly Catholic. Beautiful, reverent and holy!

I've been on the road the last two weekends, and this weekend I was in SD. I stayed in the El Cajon area, so I wanted to find a Roman Catholic church within 15 minutes of my location. I Yelped and Googled, and chose St. Therese based off of the two previous reviews. When I arrived, I realized this was the church that my nephew received his sacrament of Holy Communion at years ago. I attended the 9am mass on Sunday. The ushers were very friendly in welcoming my niece and I into the church. The church grounds are well kept and inviting. The inside of the church has a very calm and roomy feel to it. The altar was adorned with two palm trees, which I thought gave it that San Deezy feel. The stage where the altar was seemed a little plain compared to other churches I've attended, but the beautiful stained glass windows balanced out the simplicity. A majority of the parishioners were in the 40+ group, maybe because of that particular mass time. There were some children in attendance too. I appreciated the soloist singer that morning. I didn't catch her name, but her voice was so powerful and clear... just beautiful! You could hear her clearly over the organ. St. Therese's family room is large and in a great position so parents have a great view of the altar. The priest gave a great homily that day. He spoke with great clarity, pace and feeling. It was like story time as a kid, because iit seemed like less a sermon and more of an engaging story. Similar to the last church I visited (in OC), I noticed the thurible was excluded. Not a big deal, but it's cool noting the similarities from church to church. It was nice to see a girl participate as an altar server again. Great message that day: "Actions speak louder than words! " Next time I'm in SD, I know where I'll be attending mass!

Devotion to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, the patroness of our church, on her feast day.

Miles, the lead pastor of the church has a special spiritual gift of reaching all types of people. With his biblical teachings coupled with his personal testimonies, wisdom, and discernment his message is powerful, moving, and motivating. In addition, with many others of the church that share their spiritual journeys, along with special guests as well allow for significant spiritual growth and life-changing transformations to happen. I feel that my life feels more gratifying. satisfying, more peaceful, more loving, grounding, forgiving, and really my eyes consistently focused on God because of the difference the San Diego Rock church has made in my life. The San Diego Rock church is great for spiritual growth as well as connecting with like-minded people, but it's how you decide to live your life once you leave church on a daily basis. So many people have transformed their lives for the better, not perfect but improved due to continued spiritual inspiration that the San Diego Rock church represents. No matter what church you attend, I hope it is a powerful, inspiring, and life changing journey for your life. May you be blessed!

Pastor Miles and Pastor Travis speak biblical truth, as do all the Pastor's of The Rock. God is a constant. God doesn't change just because society has. The worship is Holy Spirit filled! The times I walk in feeling down, teared up and message speaks to me and I'm encouraged. Walk in during service and you even feel a rush of wind hit you as you enter the sanctuary( Holy Spirit) the breeze way, is a welcome as you join the service. People will pray with you after service if you need prayer. The Rock may be a large church, but This church has many small groups you can be part of bible studies or activity based groups and find community. There are many volunteer opportunities which are fun and many events to be part of. The Rock has regular food/provisions for the people of San Diego and has been a large church since I've known and been part of to care for the people of San Diego county . Has groups for married people, groups for young adults, parents, singles, etc. Teen camps, and young adult events are lively and well attended. The church has many other church locations/extensions locally in San Diego and Hawaii. I love that there is the "third option" We put our trust in Jesus, and not focus and get pulled into the things of the world and how those things may be trying to make us divisive of each other. I've attended other churches since living in SD but this has been where God has my family and I for the past 7 years. Thank you Jesus for this Church our faith and relationship in Jesus has only grown stronger .

Immediately I felt welcomed and knew this was a church that provided sermons that were not misleading, even when I did not want to hear it, and kept my attention, which was very important to me. The fact that they provide complementary coffee and refreshments is just an example to the kindness that you see within this church. Although it is small and the parking may not be ideal at times, I understand that they are in the midst of finding a home to accommodate everyone and those new like myself. I always joke around with my mom on the phone and say I will cry if I ever have to move and leave this church because I finally found one that resonates with me. If you are wondering about attending, don't hesitate, the Lord is calling you here, and even if I had to move back... I would drive here just to attend. Stay blessed! -Gabby

In the last 3 years, we have developed strong relationships with friends, been fed spiritually in numerous growth groups, and become plugged in to serve the church in the worship, childcare, and production teams. We love this church so much, we love its people, we love its commitment to spiritual growth and outreach, and we love how it has equipped us to commit to putting Jesus at the center of our lives and our marriage. I highly recommend checking this church out if you're looking for fresh, fun, scripture-first messages. I am biased, but our worship team is next level. If you're on the fence about Jesus or your faith, take a moment and stop by the Grove.
