Our guide Web was amazing!!! We did the "Rent a Local" on the first full day we were here and it is a must. Web took us all over the island stopping at picturesque sites and giving us the history of this beautiful place. We went to two snorkel spots and neither were disappointing. We saw turtles, rays, a lot of fish, coral life and crabs. Then we stopped for some lunch before heading back. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting the island and I would pay the extra for them to take your pictures so you don't need an underwater camera. My wife and I first gave St. Thomas Scuba and Snorkel Adventures a try last year on our first visit to St. Thomas. Because of our amazing experience last year, we had to give them another try this year. On both visits, we chose the "rent a local" experience for about $120 per person, and both times we were fortunate enough to have Madi as our guide! The "rent a local" experience is essentially a private tour in which a local snorkel expert picks you up from your hotel and drives you to 2 beaches for snorkeling, in addition to taking you to some lookout points and Hull Bay Hideaway for lunch (lunch not included in the package). Madi offered a wealth of expertise and even helped me (I am not a big swimmer and can hardly float) to stay afloat in the water (thanks to a life jacket and noodle, and later even a boogie board) while still enjoying the sights to see. Madi even brought along a cooler with waters, sodas and rum punch to keep us hydrated between beaches. Madi and the rest of the crew know exactly where to go and have great knowledge of the local wildlife. On both snorkel adventures, we saw plenty of sea turtles, sting rays, sea urchin, sea worms, flounder and various other forms of wildlife such as octopus, squid and even a barracuda. Throughout the day, your guide customizes the 5-hour experience according to what you'd like to see and do (want to spend more time at a beach snorkeling? No problem at all!). I also have to add that Webb, who runs this program, is an amazing (and personal) communicator. We emailed back and forth several times before arriving to make sure we got the most out of our experience. He also makes sure that your guide texts you before picking you up so that you have each other's contact information. The other great aspect of this tour is that your guide takes pictures of your group and the wildlife you encounter. The picture quality is incredible and they really capture some amazing shots. If you choose to purchase the photo package, they'll guarantee at least 50 high-resolution photos and will send them digitally via Dropbox or Air Drop. If you're looking to snorkel (or even Scuba dive) on St. Thomas or St. John, you must choose St. Thomas Adventures. I wouldn't change a thing about this crew and this program. BACK AGAIN. 18 Months since our last visit and WOW what a great time. My two daughters and I had arranged another snorkel trip with St. Thomas Scuba and Snorkel Adventures for our recent trip to St Thomas. We booked through the web site (very easy and secure) for Friday May 26. Madie sent me a text while I was still in the states to touch base and verify our meeting place. She was going to be our personnel guide. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed on Thursday and we had to cancel our Friday trip. We were limited on our time on the island, so I reached out to the owner Webb who was incredibly flexible and was able to re-schedule us for Saturday AM. He didn't even seem to mind. In fact, Webb picked us up on time and spent the day with us. Webb was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He brought us to their unknown turtle spot. The place was amazing. We could have spent our entire day swimming and frolicking with these creatures. See photos. By far the highlight of our snorkel and overall trip to the island. My daughters are still taking about it and their Facebook pages are lit up with Turtle photos that were taken during our trip. After the turtle excursion we drove from the Caribbean side of the island to the Atlantic side. The snorkeling there was vastly different and the coral and sea lift was aplenty. We finished by eating at a local beach dive where we had shrimp and the daily catch (snapper - yummy). I wish I could provide Webb and St.Thomas Scuba and Snorkel Adventures more than 5 stars - they deserve it. I believe I was the first ever to review this place on Yelp. Since then, all I see is five stars. This is a definite stop in St Thomas and I hope Webb and his crew all the best - they ROCKED THIS!!!! read more

I did a night snorkel last night in Hull Bay with St. Thomas Scuba & Snorkel Adventures. It was one of the best nature experiences of my life. Being in the open ocean under the clear night sky was just amazing. The guides Brian and Linda were awesome. Brian is a really funny, laid back guy and just makes you feel really comfortable with going out into the ocean at night. They gave us a good briefing before we went into the water of things we may see and things to stay away from. Both Brian and Linda were extremely knowledgable on all of the ocean life we saw on our outing. As for the things we saw, it was a great display of wildlife that you never see in a daytime snorkel. We saw Octopus, Squid, Shrimp, Tarpon fish (MASSIVE), a Spotted Eagle Ray, a jellyfish (yikes), Lobster, Starfish and several other fish and invertebrate. Another really cool experience was at one point we all joined together in a circle, turned our flashlights off and were able to observe the bioluminescence in the water. This was so cool. Overall this is a once in a lifetime experience you have to try if on vacation to St. Thomas. Do not miss out on doing this and don't be afraid of going into the ocean at night. read more

My family and I, from age 6 to 60, went on a snorkeling trip with these guys. To say they are awesome is an understatement. We were all pretty much beginner snorkelers. They were extremely patient and kind. Never once did we feel like we were of inconvenience. They were very accommodating. I definitely recommend taking these guys. What an amazing crew! My family of 7 went through These guys for snorkeling and had an amazing experience! I personally am not a good swimmer so I was nervous however the two people who snorkeling with us, "Squid" and "Hawko" or "Mr.Squid" they were so hands on! They constantly checked in on us throughout the snorkeling excursion, they provided the snorkeling gear and showed us around the island from the perspective of a local. They take you around in a 4 door jeep and provided all the equipment you will need. They even had alcohol, water and soda for us. We don't drink alcohol but the water and soda were appreciated. Only advise I would give would be, WEAR A SHIRT OR HAVE HEAVY SUN BLOCK. Your back will get fried if you snorkeling. You don't realize how long you are in the water. We spent two hours but it felt like 30 minutes. We also went to a small restaurant/bar which was a lot a fun. The place has a great view. You won't regret using this outfit. read more

If you haven't done a night snorkel and it isn't at the top of your bucket list, it should be! Normally they ask for a minimum of two, but they were so nice and let me go solo. Wes was awesome. He has a wealth of knowledge and pointed out so much stuff that I never would have seen otherwise. We saw eels, a couple of huge puffers, starfish, tarpon, lobsters, squid and more. Shaw took us out from secret harbor and we saw lobsters, eels, a sting ray, lots of fish and a squid! The time flew and I wish we had another hour to spend out there. Shaw dove down to the bottom and pointed out the various wildlife along the way. Highly recommend! read more

Communication to the day of scuba experience was top notch. Honestly, look no further, Rob was fantastic! Unfortunately the only dive available was a shore dive out of hill bay (as the boats had been destroyed from the storms almost a year ago) nonetheless it was really fun. Visibility was 40ft+, lots of color and a bunch of sea life. We ended up having lunch at the local bar/restaurant with Rob at Hull Bay and he gave us a bunch of things to check out on the island. The people we had leading us were a fantastically friendly couple who were very helpful in and out of the water. The beach is beautiful and very secluded on a busy cruise day. I stumbled upon this company from Yelp and I'm so grateful that I did. We were staying at the Marriott Frenchmans reef so it was quite a taxi ride around to Hull Bay from it, but was worth every minute. Web and I had text that morning and he was waiting for us when we arrived. Web was super friendly and knowledgable and offered our family exactly what we were looking for as first time snorkeler's. My mom had came along but didn't want to partake so he offered her a beach chair, beer, rum punch and or water while she hung out and waited for us. He then took us into the water and showed us how to get started then took us further out to the reef and showed us lots of neat things. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, we did some snorkeling, then went back and had some drinks, had lunch next door (amazing fish tacos) and then the kids went back in for more snorkel time. We just took a private tour with William to Saint John VI from Saint Thomas. We had a good time and thought the guide was very informational. However, we had discussed with his associate over the phone before when booking the tour that they would take us to several snorkeling sites and that never happened. For what we paid, we felt that we could have gone to more than one site to snorkel or spent more time snorkeling at the one site we did go to. It cost $149 each and we were taken to one snorkeling site and a brief tour of the sugar plantation. We do think that William picked a good snorkeling spot and he gave us tips for the island and we both really appreciated that. He is a good tour guide you can tell he has been doing it for a long time as he shared. read more
