I spent a few hours attending Mass, and visiting the sanctuary and the different little chapels. The gardens with all the Saints statues and the flowers are awesome. There are plenty of benches to sit and linger in prayer and thought. The Shrine is beautiful, serene, peaceful. The shape of the chapel is a dome, with the statue of the Virgin on the very top. One can climb by side to the top. The dome is decorated like part of the world. North America, Caribbean, Europe, Asia. The Faithful is a representation of the world map depicted on the dome

There is a good area for parking but otherwise you'd have to street park when it gets full. Inside was very clean and well maintained. I must admit i actually liked the simplicity but neatness of their decor. From holy images, to the altar and even window mosaics. The aesthetics of this church blended nicely with each other which also help you get into a state of calm and prayer. Very lucky to have found this church and attend one of their Sunday masses.

By the end of the day when we came back home we both were complete different person! It is a week past from the workshop that we attended still are in our relax and positive mood. This Catholic Retreat…read morecenter is still staffed by Carmelite Friars in a venerable old stone building that formerly served as a seminary school and home for dozens of Carmelites. It now offers spiritual retreats and religious sessions to the general public, as well as daily Mass for locals and visitors. A nice gift shop is attached and it overlooks the upper horseshoe falls.......a venerable relic surrounded by commercial tourist attractions. But it is likely to remain due to the cemetery where my uncle, a Carmelite priest is buried. May he RIP
