In the course of doing so they dropped a section of the tree on my power line, damaging it. And after doing so they never bothered to notify anyone nor contact BGE. My wife, who works full time at home, said the power in our house began flickering constantly. After the job was completed, my neighbor came outside to make sure everything was cleaned up and immediately noticed my power line was damaged and hanging really low. When she questioned the owner about it, he finally admitted that they dropped "a small branch" on the line and initially tried to say the line was already damaged (it wasn't. I have pictures of the line prior to the work). It was at this point that my neighbor and the owner came to my house to ask my wife if we had power. Which she said we did but that it was flickering (I have video of this). That's when my neighbor (not the owner) contacted BGE. The owner left before BGE arrived (I'm positive I know why he left and also why he never contacted BGE, more on that in a bit). When BGE arrived and saw the damage and the power flickering they had my wife turn off the main breaker to the house. It was at this point that I arrived home to find my neighbors on both side of my house, BGE and my wife all standing in my driveway. My wife told me what happened and I went to look at the power line to find it was hanging only about 10 feet off the ground. In addition the neutral\ground cable was snapped in two places and some of the insulation on the live wires was stripped away leaving the wires exposed. Myself and my other neighbor ended up having to use the BGE worker's insulated poles to lift the line up so he could drive his truck under to get to the pole. After inspecting the line at the pole he found the neutral\ground cable was also broken at the pole. At this point he told us he couldn't fix it alone and was going to have to put in a work order to have a crew come out to fix the line. The crew spent over 4 hours fixing the line. It was at this time that I found out that any tree service cutting down trees that are within a certain distant to power lines (mine ran about 10-15 feet from the tree) must notify BGE so they can be onsite when the trees are cut down. This tree service never contacted BGE. Due to the power flickering and shorting out, two of our major appliances were damaged. In total it cost us just over $1500 to repair\replace the appliances. When my wife an I confronted the owner about the damages and getting reimbursed he basically blew us off and wouldn't pay. It was after this that I decided to do a little digging. In the state of Maryland, all tree service companies must Be registered and licensed with the Department of Natural Resources. You can look up a tree service to see if they are licensed by going DNRs website and using their search tool (https://dnr.maryland.gov/forests/Pages/licensed-tree-experts.aspx). You can look them up by name, address and even owners name. Guess what, this company does not show up in their search. Which means, according to the state of Maryland THIS COMPANY IS NOT LICENSED. In addition, when a company is licensed, they must prominently display their LTE license number on all websites, promotional material, work vehicles, work orders, etc. And must also give you their LTE licensee number when asked. This company has no license number displayed anywhere, not their website nor their work order that my neighbor has. And when I asked the owner for his LTE license number, he never responded. This is why he never called BGE before the job, or called them when he dropped a tree on my power line, and why he left before BGE arrived. Because he knew they would ask him for his LTE license number. The owner of the company is dishonest, disreputable and is not licensed in the state of Maryland. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

The July Fourth storm uprooted a large tulip poplar in our back yard and left it leaning against…read moretwo others. We scrambled to find a service that could come out promptly, not knowing if the trees were stable. One company didn't call back; another did, but wasn't able to meet the price or timing that Hamby Tree Experts offered. Hamby sent a crew the next morning and surveyed the situation. They showed us how the uprooted tree had cracked the two it was leaning on, so those trees had to come out. We also had a dead tree in the corner of our lot that we asked them to cut down, and that entailed removing a smaller, mature oak. In the front, there was a huge tulip poplar with a large hole visible from the ground that we asked them to remove as well. It turned out the hole was nearly deep enough for me to crawl into--and the perfect home for a family of raccoons! Three babies were inside. The workers were able to remove two of them, but the third was having none of it. Hamby offered to leave that log section behind to give the little guy a chance to escape, and the workers will take it away the next time they're in the area. We recently (Saturday, July 4th, 2026) had a microburst storm that literally destroyed 8 trees on our property. These trees were all about 40 years old from when we built the house. Dubois Tree Service was out on our property the following Tuesday at 8:00 with a full crew. They not only worked on our property, but also on several other properties that day. It took two days to totally clean our property, but they were out in our neighborhood six days in a row helping people with MAJOR storm damage.
