My pregnancy was high risk in every possible way, she dismissed all my concerns and worries. Also disregarded my fertility specialists requests and concerns. Made me bleed for a day by unnecessarily doing a very rough and painful vaginal check with a speculum. Risked my baby's life and my life. Lacks human skills, bedside manners and any medical knowledge. She should be investigated because I am certain she's not qualified to work as OBGYN. Besides being under qualified she's also unprofessional and always either absent or late. She gave me a horrible experience. I wish no other pregnant woman, especially a high risk one, ever gets tormented by her. Also last but not least, when I had an emergency c-section several weeks earlier than my due date, she came to my recovery room scolding me asking "what did you do!?". Zero compassion zero empathy. It has taken me a long time to write this review because of how affected I was by my appointment with this doctor and how much I dislike having to write negative reviews. But my recommendation is to stay as far away from her as possible. From the moment she walked in and went straight to the computer and talked to me while staring at the screen, I was treated with condescension, fat-shaming, and not only total dismissal of my concerns, but made to feel stupid for having them. Had an unpleasant experience with Dr. McDonald. After being checked into the hospital for labor, I was confirmed to be in active labor and was assigned a room. Shortly after, Dr. McDonald came in, we barely meet, then she abruptly presents me with 2 options: either have a C-section now or go home. There was no clear explanation, no additional testing, and no medical reasoning provided. My baby and I were committed to a natural birth, we told her we will think about what to do, she left. 20 minutes later, the nurse & my husband caught the baby. I held my baby safely and without surgical intervention. I'm still unsure why Dr. McDonald tried to pressure me so harshly into those two extremes. It felt rushed, impersonal, and not at all in line with my baby's or my best interest. Seems like she chose to profit over prioritize patient care. Office experience is rough, the front desk nurses come off as very apathetic and at times, rude. I had called in to schedule an appointment but when I arrived, the nurse had never finalized the appointment in their system and I was told I would have to wait another 3 months before the next appointment opened up. I had already waited 3 months by this time, plus called off of work in order to make the appointment. I understand mistakes happen, but the front desk was very unkind when it came to explaining the error. Once I came in for the new appointment 3 months later, their appointments were running 45 minutes behind. It again affected my work day....It is consistently difficult to see Dr. MacDonald The doctor herself is very kind and patient as well as professional. However, the difficulties and lack of support I experience with her staff are making me consider another office. read more

Terrible experience with this Dr! She is very dry and flat in personality and bed side manner. When my baby's heart stopped at 17 weeks, I decided to wait for the fetus to pass naturally at home. When the fetus passed, not all of the tissue came out so I called the Drs office, and she told me to go to the ER. I felt fine and needed to work so went to ER 2 days later where I sat for over 5 hours. I was examined and prepped for the DnC laying on the gurney with IV and the on-call Dr came in to say that Dr. McDonald was contacted, and she told me to go home and call her office in the morning. So she pressured me to go to ER when it was really inconvenient with work and emotional processing of my loss, only for her to not allow me to complete the surgery because she wanted to evaluate me the next day. I was infuriated that she would prolong the process on me when the on-cqll Dr could have resolved the rest of my health circumstances. I would never return to her practice or recommend her to anyone for health services, especially pregnancy. Save yourself further hassles and find a more suitable Dr. read more

This Dr was rude, Dismissive, and does not listen. When I was asked if I had questions or concerns regarding my current pregnancy I was cut off while talking and completely dismissed. In the same breath she told me my concerns where something she could not deal with and to talk to my PCP but then turned around and told me I have been mistreating my headaches and I need to be medicated. After the appointment I received the after visit summary and she stated things that were untrue further proving she didnt listen to me. How is anyone supposed to get proper care if the Dr isnt fully listening to their patients. Not good experiences at Sutter Roseville OB for Prenatal care. Each appointment I'm waiting at least 45min past my appointment time with no notice of when I might be seen. My last appointment I waited 40min to be seen, was brought back and sat in my waiting room for another 30min. I had to walk back out to the front desk and ask where my doctor was, and vaguely got a response that she would be there soon. Stacie McDonald came in, not friendly at all, and asked me to lay back. She used the doppler machine with cold gel for a total of 3 seconds (barely could hear baby) and said I was good to go and left. The appointment was probably 3min long total. Each time is like this, she's so not friendly, definitely doesn't remember her patients, or makes me comfortable during this process. This also sucks since my husband has a rare genetic disease that baby might have and I've had a rough body/medical history. Encourage looking elsewhere for an OB doctor and driving to Sacramento or Davis Sutter if you can. read more

I wouldn't even write a review but I'd rather give a heads up to any future patients who may have post partum depression or anxiety issues... I switched from the Sutter Sacramento/Elk Grove group to Roseville because it's closer to home and after two pregnancies I thought for my third having just ONE doctor could've been beneficial. I throw up throughout my whole pregnancy each time, but it's fine I find ways to manage it, other than that I have very insignificant pregnancies. No other issues or anything. I did have postpartum depression/anxiety issues that I had to go to my PCP about and that was part of the reason I switched to one single OB. I thought I'd be more comfortable if I had issues again. This was not the case at all. When my poor scoring on my questionnaire was brought up she suggested I sleep more or get help during the days. So if you are all concerned about issues after or you want a concerned dr I'd say this is not where you should look. You also need to plan to wait over an hour for appointments because she has to leave to deliver babies at times. That was fine I figured I switched to a single OB so I knew what I was in for. My tests were all ordered on time and everything was normal so there was never a need to bring any issues up. I honestly just wanted to leave a review for any other mothers to be because if you're not at all used to mood type issues and they come up post partum it does not really feel good to bring them up and be told to sleep more or find help during the days. read more

Had her as my primary 2.5 years ago when I was pregnant with my twin boys. 2 weeks prior to having them early I was telling her I had severe pain in my groin to which she replied "welcome to pregnancy". Because I was pregnant with twins I got to see another high risk doctor regularly. The next week I made the same complaint to her. She told me that was not normal, not good and ordered more tests. I was given restrictions and essentially put on bed rest. I will always wonder if she took my worries and pain seriously if I would have pushed back my children's delivery date. She also could never be bothered to remember any personal information about me and who I was. I regret using her as my doctor and always will. read more

Dr. MacDonald is THEE BEST. You must be crazy not to choose her as your gynecologist. [I'll try to make my little story short.] About 3-4 years ago, I had a physical with my doctor and they noticed that 'something', a big lump, was inside my pelvic region. I was 21 yrs. old at the time, weighing 100 pounds and being 5' 2", but the lump made me gain 10 more pounds. I looked a little poochy, and most people couldn't tell that I gained weight because I just looked healthy still. I thought my physical changes were due to birth control since I've never used it before. That's why I dismissed the weight gain and other changes that had happened to me. Plus, the 'thing' in my pelvic area didn't even hurt, though it grew for about 5 months and stopped. I literally climbed, ran, did yoga, and danced with NO pain... So December rolls around and I am told during my winter break that I need to get this 'thing' out because I looked 3 months pregnant, and the nurses kept asking if I was pregnant. I told them I wasn't and I had normal periods. Right away, I was scheduled for an Ultrasound and sure enough, there was this mass that was SO big, it blocked the view of my uterus. Next thing you know, I was scheduled for a gynecologist, and I've NEVER had a pap smear test and I've never been to a gynecologist until I had this happen to me. Dr. MacDonald was and is still my gynecologist. My parents didn't know about this because I was able to keep it to myself, and I thought I could just get a small operation or something and continue with Christmas and New Years. My boyfriend didn't really even support me and wasn't even there at ANY of my appointments so life was pretty hard for me--overwhelming. I ended up getting a CAT scan and then shortly after, I had to break the news to my parents after hearing that I had to undergo serious surgery... I had to get one of my ovaries removed because it was a GIANT CYST. Dr. MacDonald was supposed to go on vacation but stayed for my surgery, which was during New Years. My boyfriend, back then, broke up with me a few days before my surgery, too. (A-hole) The results: NOT cancerous! (thank goodness), loss my right ovary to endometriosis, and the cystic ovary was a total of 10 pounds of dense liquid. CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shortest and quickest way to weight loss, eh? I kid. Anyway, Dr. MacDonald is such a sweet woman who has a huge heart. She is dedicated and very knowledgeable and patient. I feel completely happy and secure. Go see her :) read more

I regret not trusting my gut and going with another doctor. Every appointment with her had a cold tone. She would not tell me what she was going to do before doing it. (She would tell me lay down, without telling me why or what she was about to do and do it without telling me what she was doing?!) During my labor, she told me to do a few "practice pushes." I'm sorry, what??? She told me to push as hard as I can (NOT what you're supposed to do!!!) and she sat idle, on her chair, hands folded, just watching. This is the strangest behavior I had seen from an OB. Not supportive at all, just there to get paid. ‍ I should have listened to my body and delivered my baby squatting, as that felt the most comfortable for me and the least amount of pain during my drug free labor. Dr Macdonald had me get on the bed, on my back (even though I expressed that I would not like to deliver on my back) and spread my legs even though my body did not want to! They literally forced me to. Ugh so traumatic to this day and I delivered 4 months ago. If I had anything going on and messaged the office, I would get a response from a nurse, not my doctor. Thanks for having the time for your patients. I expressed concern for my pelvic floor at my 6 week PP appt and the way she checked me was by "pushing like I had to poop." NOT the way to check for pelvic floor weakness FYI. I have been working on my pelvic floors since then and have improved some of the issues I was dealing with that she wrote off as "normal." ‍‍‍ Ladies, please find a better doctor if you actually want to have an amazing pregnancy/birthing experience. read more

I was scheduled for my routine appointment and due to schedule & my check up date Dr. Macdonald was my only choice. In one word- DISSAPPOINTED. She came in and all she did was ask me six times if I had any questions for her. "Any other question" "Any other question" She checked the baby's heartbeat and that's it. I'm pretty frustrated with the communication in this office. I was given lab work to do and felt like I had to chase them down to get follow-up about the results. I finally called yesterday after 3 weeks since the lab contacted me directly with the results. I was told Dr. Macdonald's office mailed them to me, but I never received them. When I tried to followup yesterday, I was given more unclear information--one nurse said they were normal but didn't explain the results and another said the Dr. already planned to refer me to a fertility clinic, "whenever I'm ready" but that was never communicated to me. I had to look up all the hormones tested for and what the numbers meant myself--the Dr. never explained what any of them meant or what they do at my initial appointment. I also felt a bit admonished by one of the nurses who told me if I have further questions, I need to make an appointment, as if I was bugging their office. I went in 1.5 months ago, never heard back about my labs and called them ONCE to find out what the next step was. When I did say, okay I would like an appointment to get information on my labs and find out why I am being referred to a fertility clinic, the nurse said I should see the fertility clinic first and then follow up with Dr. MacDonald. So, I have no idea if this referral is just standard, or if it's because of something in my labs. They also ordered testing for my husband and didn't tell us that the lab they referred us to doesn't even perform those tests, so he had to go to a private clinic and pay out of pocket. It was a stressful experience for him. I sent his results to her office, but I don't think they had even looked at them yet and were already referring me to a specialist without reviewing his results. Overall the communication here sucks. That said, I appreciate her not making me wait around for testing and a referral to a fertility clinic. She was very responsive to my concern about my fertility given all the pertinent factors. I will see how communication goes at my next appointment before I decide to switch to another doctor. read more

SHE ALMOST KILLED MY BABY!!!! Act 1. I had an appointment with her, because my Dr. (Prasad) was busy that day, and I had an emergency. I had a bad pain in right quarter of the stomach. I had a miscarriage 6 month ago and I was very worried. Act 2. Dr. Macdonald did an ultrasound and said that she saw the heartbit in my fallopian tube, she called Dr. Prasad as a second opinion, and Dr. Prasad confirmed that there is a heartbit. When I asked what was in the middle of my uterus (that I knew, looked like baby), she said it was just fluid (WTF). Dr. MaCdonald assured me that it was an ectopic pregnancy and that I will die unless I perform a surgery to remove it. Act 3. I was shocked and started to cry. I just had a miscarriage - and now it is ectopic pregnancy..... With two doctors being sure, I could not refuse not to accept the surgery. They started preparing room for surgery.... I did however ask them to get a third opinion, and Dr. Macdonald told me the resident doctor in the ER will do another ultrasound. She also told me that they will let that doctor know. Act 4. In the emergency, the resident doctor at the time, Dr. Wong, had no idea that I wanted a third opinion. They started preparing me for surgery right-a-way. Because I was stubborn, and didn't believe the two " GYNECOLOGIST", I asked to do another ultrasound. Finally, the 2-nd ultrasound in emergency showed normal pregnancy. Apparently, that fluid in my uterus was the sack with the future baby. The doctor in the ER advised me not to do the surgery!!!! Thanks GOD I asked for recheck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they started to do the surgery with the camera and anesthesia, after that they would definitely have to do DNC. It means NO BABY, HEALTHY BABY. P.S. Before I came to do an ultrasound with Dr. Macdonald, receptionist gave me a paper to sign, which said that all doctors make mistakes and I won't sue them. It was 4-th time I was there and first time I had to sign that paper. I have never signed such a paper in any other doctors offices I have been to. After ALL THAT HELL THEY DIDN'T EVEN SAY SORRY, THAT THEY ALMOST KILLED MY BABY. Run from them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Stacie is by far the best gynecologist in the whole bay area. When I first started coming to the center, Womans Health Specialist, I was around 12 years old for horrible cramping and heavy periods. Stacie always gave me the best advice in terms of what she felt would work for me. To this day, I still come to Stacie with concerns and being a 23 year old woman who has not had a baby yet, Stacie always gives me the right information that I need for any problems I might have. The best part is she is gentle. A few times when Stacie wasn't in the office, I had to have annual exams with other doctors where they would take their time and sometimes hurt me. I have never ever had that problem with Stacie. She's quick, gentle, and friendly. She knows what she's talking about and is honest to you no matter what you bring to her. Hands down if ANYONE is looking for an awesome gynecologist you need to see Stacie Macdonald! Girls who are young or around my age: she's perfect for you and understands what your going through. This is our first baby and we looked at yelp reviews to select Dr. Stacy Macdonald as our OBGYN. My wife delivered a 8 pounder healthy baby at 39W1D at washington hospital. Let me start with the positives first 1. Dr. Macdonald is really pleasant personality and always has a smile whenever she enters the room. 2. Being a first time parent it is natural to be worried about small things on your regular visits and Dr. Macdonald really did a good job with communicating anything she thought needed more tests. Our baby had irregular heartbeat (sounds scary) which in 99% times is harmless (our baby after the birth is completely fine) and I must say Dr. Macdonald really communicated well about this condition and asked us to do some more test to confirm this is nothing serious. Negatives 1. Free use of "Dead Baby" reference. This was really something I never expected and main reason for the single stars. We really wanted med free natural birth and for any intervention recommendation we would ask lot of question on the need for those intervention and I found Dr. Macdonald getting a little offended/annoyed and on every instance said "You have a choice between having a healthy baby or a dead baby!!". This happened at 33 weeks in pregnancy and also few more times later. As it was too late to change the provider we decided to continue on with the same provider. For any parent the thought of a dead baby will bring a lot of stress and Dr. Macdonald should definitely know better. To give more context, at 33 weeks the AFI count was measured around 6.5 and Doc said if this stays or goes below 5 we will need to induce at 37 weeks. If you google about AFI technique you will know that this is not a accurate measurement technique and before recommending any next steps (as big as medical induction) I would have expected the doc to confirm this numbers by doing another round of measurement but I found her more eager to induce labor medically. I felt she used the Dead Baby reference with an intention of scaring us into induction even though it was not a medical emergency! 2. The waiting times were ridiculously long. 90% of the time we would have to wait almost more than hour and half after our appointment time before the Doc actually arrived. The office did really terrible job with the scheduling. I would have not mentioned this had this happened once or twice but the long waits was almost a norm. I tried to giving a feedback on this couple of times but the office staff just nonchalantly ignored it. We interacted with couple of other OBGYN from Washington Women's health group namely Jing Dai and Siobhan L. Calhoun and both were equally bad! I would provide another reviews for them separately. Having gone through the labor and delivery process of our first baby now I know that selecting a OBGYN and Hospital is the most crucial thing and given a choice we would HAVE selected some other hospital and some other OBGYN. read more

I've had two appts cancelled with earliest available a month away. At this point I've already been pushed back over two months. I understand emergencies come up, but you'd think they would do something to accommodate those they've cancelled on multiple times - maybe have some sort of priority scheduling or move someone back who hasn't been waiting? I've made appts with both Dr. Macdonald and Dr. Aleman-Martin and BOTH have cancelled the day before due to surgery. My appt was at 430 pm I was asked to come in at 415 to do paper work I was called in at 505 and it's now 558 and still no dr macdonald! I asked and asked and hopefully I was not forgotten and the MA was like the doctor is coming soon your up! Just be more patient..... Hmmmm come on what's the appointment for????? 603 pm still no doctor... If I'm not in need of doctor due to my excruciating pain I would have left.... Ok so good so now I'm changing my review from 1 star to 5 star it made so much difference when the doctor saw me even if I had to wait 2 hours! Dr. Macdonald delivered our first baby and will hopefully be delivering our second baby, due this October. She is a kind and caring doctor and willing to answer the many questions that first-time parents have throughout pregnancy and childbirth. My first pregnancy was quite challenging due to hyperemesis gravidarum, and Dr. Macdonald was very good throughout, communicating with the supplemental care providers that I required and stepping up the nature and degree of treatment as needed. She was also willing to work with my strong desire to avoid being hospitalized for my condition and did frequent checkups during the most difficult period of the pregnancy. Because my baby was also overdue, I had a scheduled induction and was thus able to insure that Dr. Macdonald delivered my baby. She was supportive throughout the delivery and, most meaningful to me, she balanced my desire to avoid C-section delivery with the needs of my baby (and I was able to go on to have a normal delivery) and carefully explained all of the risks of each option (C-section vs. waiting additional time to attempt normal delivery) allowing me to make an informed decision. Dr. Macdonald is an excellent doctor with a fun sense of humor and pleasant demeanor, who in my experience is always willing to give as much time during appointments as the patient needs. This is why I gave 4 stars rather than 5, because since she does give as much time as a patient needs to answer questions and discuss concerns, there is sometimes a bit of a wait to see her beyond your scheduled appointment time. I needed to be treated for fibroids, polyps, and cysts that were creating a lot of problems for me. Dr. Macdonald was recommended to me by my primary care physician. Right away, Dr. Macdonald made me feel that I was in great hands. She discussed all of the treatment options that were open to me, and took my thoughts and feelings into consideration before making her recommendation for treatment. Once we agreed that surgery was the best option for me, she was patient with my endless questions, and both she and her staff helped me get through all of the red tape associated with insurance, getting necessary pre-op tests done with other doctors, etc. After my surgery, Dr. Macdonald was there to make sure I was feeling ok, and to discuss how the surgery went, and what I could expect during my recovery process. Even the nurses in the hospital had nothing but great things to say about Dr. Macdonald. I highly recommend Dr. Macdonald to anyone who needs to find a gynecologist. read more

She readily provided detailed responses to all my questions and concerns. We had our first baby in Feb this year and the journey was made so much comfortable and easy because of Dr. Macdonald. She is an amazing person to whom you can reach out with silliest of questions and concerns. And she would answer them with smile on her face. She always encouraged my wife to be positive during this phase which helped her a lot, specially during the last phase. We finally had a normal delivery and luckily she was the doc on duty that night. Dr. MacDonald is great. The first time I was seen by her was for a pap smear. The following year, I found out that I was expecting and immediately called in for an appointment to see her. Since my first visit up to now, my third trimester, has been great. A couple of months ago, I was experiencing some cramping and was concerned. Unfortunately, Dr. MacDonald was not in at the time so I had to see another Doctor. I don't remember her name, all I remember is how cold she came across. It seemed like she was annoyed at me for coming in for cramping. I know Dr. MacDonald would've never treated me that way, had it been her seeing me. Anyway, I always look forward to our appointments. She is always very informative and I can tell that she truly cares for both baby and mother. I'm crossing my fingers that she will be the one delivering my baby. :) read more

Unlike my visits at Kaiser, my visits here lasted much more than 5 minutes because the doctors took the time to make sure our questions are answered and that we as patients feel comfortable and safe. When I was worried I was not gaining enough weight, she reassured me that I was on track and explained why. I was not a fan of the flu shot but she sternly urged me to get it and I appreciate that because she will push for what she believes is best. Shes ALWAYS in a hurry. Go with another OBGYN especially if you are pregnant. She gives you no time.

Dr. MacDonald is one of the best, if not the best, OBGYNs I have ever had. I've been to quite a few since I've moved around a bit. This is my first pregnancy, and she guided me through the first two, and beginning of the third, trimesters. She has an excellent bedside manner, listens, and gives solid advice. I have moved once again and sadly have to switch doctors. But, I highly recommend Dr. MacDonald and the Women's Health Specialists Clinic. One more thing to add -- another benefit of the Women's Health Specialists Clinic is that it has several OBGYNs on staff, so there is a good chance you can schedule a last-minute appointment even if Dr. MacDonald is not available. read more

She is the worst doctor I ever had. I only had a very small problem which can be handled easily by any doctors. She made my problem get worst. Luckily, I swift to a different doctor immediately. Otherwise, I may end up at the hospital for a very long period of time, may be forever. In addition, she likes to be the patients' boss. She will show you bad attitude if you have to reconsider her suggestion. IShe deserved no star at all. Unfortunately, I have to pick up at least 1 star. read more

I've only gone to Stacie Macdonald once.. and thats all i needed. from jumping from doctors to doctors, i actually felt at peace with Stacie. she really knows whats shes talking about..and not only does she care about you she takes the time to REALLY talk to you.. my last doctor didn't take that time and she was like a broken record. said the same things every time i went to see her. and stacie said when i first saw me pinpointed my problems and said she doesn't want to wait my time like my old doctor did and she right away forwarded me to a more special doctor for my needs. i chose to go to Stacie BECAUSE of these reviews. so all i can say if you are looking for a good gynecologist i'd reccomend Stacie. read more

This was my first visit to an OBGYN in ages, and Dr Macdonald is hands down the best doctor I've had in a while. She explained the annual checkup process to me, and has a very upbeat demeanor.
