Went and saw Diary of Anne Frank - it was awesome! Loved being up close and personal and I thought the actors did a phenomenal job.

We go maybe once or twice a year, so there are only two theaters we go to. This one is my least favorite out of the two, but it's closer to home. Every single time we come here I remember that I don't like the seats. They recline and I appreciate that. They're not uncomfortable, but the buttons to raise/lower the chair are on the inside panel, so for larger people it's really easy to hit the raise or lower button by accident. They also have swivel tables for every seat which I'm sure is great for people who buy snacks or drinks... but we don't so there's just a random table in front of you during the movie. I don't know if they wipe each of them down between movies, but I'd like to think they do. I will just continue telling myself that they wipe each one between movies especially since touching the table at your seat is kind of unavoidable. The snacks and drinks, like any other theater, are overpriced. That's why we don't buy them. We just sit there for the duration of the movie and enjoy whatever we're watching. The people who work there are friendly. The few times we've interacted with anyone has been minimal, but pleasant. I will return to this theater again, but then I will inevitably remember why this one is not my theater of choice. It doesn't affect the quality of the movies though. Just personal preference. P.S. The floors are no more sticky than any other theater, but I'm pretty sure there's a law that says theater floors must be at least a little sticky. lol

I understand needing to see faces but our faces were completely out. The woman that scanned our tickets had tattoos , brown hair and a piercing... she was genuinely the rudest human being I have ever met. Thanks for an awful time. We are never coming back here again

Offering wide leather reclining chairs with no issues, it's a cool theater (as far as I've experienced). Bathrooms are kept clean as well from what I've seen, and the Staff are pleasant (those I've encountered). Located in a shopping plaza, there's, of course, plenty of parking available. This location (for my friends and I) is often our go-to because it's less crowded and we stand to get more times to choose from. It also doesn't hurt that across the parking lot is Marble Slab Creamery, a nice place to grab a sweet treat after the show. Check it out!

It's right off I-10 and not far from the Washburn Tunnel, making it an easy and strategic stop--especially for cheap matinees when I'm trying to dodge traffic I've even timed appointments at the Discount Tire next door so I can catch a movie while my car gets worked on. Pro tip: make an afternoon of it with a happy hour stop at Chili's in the same plaza before your show--apps, a margarita, then a short walk to the theater? Yes, please. This theater knows its audience. They regularly feature Spanish-language films, anime, and more alternative or niche flicks you don't always see at big chains. It's a small but meaningful sign that they're paying attention to the community they serve, and I respect that. Inside, it's mostly clean and has been upgraded with recliner seating, which at this point is a must. Last visit, they didn't have Snow Caps (devastating, I know), but they do offer self-serve butter and little popcorn salt cups so you can fine-tune your snack game throughout the film--love that detail. Overall, it's a laid-back, affordable, and surprisingly thoughtful place to catch a movie, whether you're here for the blockbusters or something a little off the beaten path.

Upon entering the Allen theater we were greeting by the "red jackets" ushers and it's always smiles and pleasantries. Everyone is always helpful and friendly. We took pics in the rotunda as it's very hard to overlook the beauty and detail there. My son even commented that he could tell the history with the architecture (he's not really into these things, so it really stood out). The seats were a soft tangerine velvet, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were impeccably clean and there are plenty to use. I always enjoy visiting the CPH.

I was blessed to get a free pass so I didn't have to buy a ticket to watch the films (thanks to a friend). At Allen Theatre, I watched 14 short stories on 8 April 2022. Each ranged from 5 minutes long to 25 minutes long. There were some really excellent short stories shown. I got to watch other films on different days at the Connor Palace theatre. OSCAR QUALIFYING FILMS -- I was so happy that I finally made it to the Cleveland International Film Festival in 2022. It only happens once a year and it is very difficult for films to get chosen for the film festival. Almost 100 international films and short stories, including local American films (made in USA) were shown over a span of 11 days, ending on 9 April 2022. THEATRE (Inside) -- Historic and charming building. I love all the beautiful and intricate details up on the ceiling. The theatre seats 500 people which includes a balcony. It's one of the smaller theatre's on Playhouse Square. FOOD/DRINKS -- There is a small concession stand here that sells snacks (chocolates, popcorn, and pretzels) and drinks. It's highway robbery and a serious crime (LOL) that the snacks are so expensive here, similar to prices at an airport. My friend bought a bag of popcorn for $6 which for is expensive for a "naturally and artificially" flavoured snack. The theatre needs to make money too, I suppose. There are so many different events and shows here, weekly, so I highly recommend that you visit. If you live in Cleveland or are visiting from out of town, you need to stop by Playhouse Square, whether it's Allen Theatre or one of the other theatre's. **** - 43/150 total reviews in 2022 - 521 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 9 April 2022
