Our family had been a part of ACSD since she was 2 years old in 1989. When she went to Belmont she was one of the BEST dancers in the Musical Theatre Program!!! We have seen parents come and go (just like the previous reviewer) who wanted to change the way the studio conducts its business. The program is sound. I find it interesting that ACSD is voted BEST DANCE SCHOOL in Williamson County 13 years in a row. I also find it interesting that there are many students dancing there that are 2nd generation students. (and some 3rd generations) I hope the last reviewer is content to drive his daughter out of Franklin. I will always recommend ACSD.

The interior hallways & classrooms are clean and clutter free. Outdoor pool is popular! Several handicap spaces are available nearer to main entrance. Parking appears to be adequate but always very full. Entrance and exit is a single option off of Commonwealth Drive (cutting through to the adjacent elementary school is blocked off for safety reasons).

He did a fabulous job, explaining the process, breaking down the line dance and taking some amazing video to keep to show all your friends and family what a fabulous dancer that you are. HA! They send the video a few days after the experience and its included in your fee. My suggestion would be to either build more time into the lesson to grab drinks between or pay a bit more and have a bar tender upstairs. They do provide immediate access to water because boy shaking it makes you thirsty. Had a fabulous time and definitely encourage visitors to give this a try.

As others have mentioned the instructors are often yelling and show lack of care for young performers/their skills/feelings (they don't even bother learning kids' names and rather address them by the roles they are playing). If your kid is looking to learn new skills/become more confident that's not a place for you either! Very disappointing experience overall!

When my wife voiced our concerns after our daughter was truly reluctant to continue at the camp after just two days, we received the reply posted below from Sondra, which placed the blame back on our child. And we were rather incensed that the seemingly admitted/acknowledged loud tone of voice repeatedly directed towards our child (as well as the child of family friends' who also signed up to be a student/camper) was excused away as being necessary to "project our voices to be heard" to "move 40 kids on a stage". Really? Seriously? It's not a license to yell at kids. We were looking for a fun, fulfilling, challenging event for our daughter to continue her growth during the summer break. Such was not our experience with Act Too. EMAIL REPLY DATED July 10, 2024: Thank you for the email and we are sorry that [REDACTED] will not be completing the week with us. Honestly, in 22 years of doing these camps, we have never had anyone complain about our space. We give the kids several breaks, but we are a training program and we do dance them as well. The floors we have are dance floors and have a bounce to them to prevent injuries. I'm sorry to hear that she was hurting. Ms. Erica is an excellent teacher and works very hard at having the children feel successful. I'm sorry to hear the she was scared of Ms. Erica- needless to say we are not in the business of scaring children. We want them to love musical theatre. Camp should be fun, but with a musical theatre camp there is work expected as well. Trying to move around 40 kids on a stage can be challenging and at times we all have to project our voices to be heard. I do hope that you both have a wonderful rest of your summer and she will be missed. The teachers were warm, steady, and genuinely invested in each child as an individual. We watched our son grow in independence, communication, and emotional maturity, and he developed a real love of learning through play, nature, and meaningful projects. Spring Hollow also felt like a true community for our family; supportive, welcoming, and aligned with the values we wanted reinforced at home. The school operates under the Reggio-Emilia philosophy (meaning the children can self-direct their own learning) . After saying goodbye at the goodbye window, the day starts with the children together talking about what is going on in the day. The children have times where they can choose to be outside or inside and a teacher is in each spot helping them out. In either spot they can play, paint, work with materials or dress up. It is quite exciting to the see the daily email from the teachers with pictures of what the kids during the day. The thing that surprised me the most is the amount of cooperation and group play that emerges when you leave the kids on their own. In every email, there are pictures of a group of kids exploring or playing house and the kids have assigned themselves different rules. We went to the open house at Spring Hollow and were able to sit in on a day with our son. If you are unsure, plan to stop in and you won't be disappointed. We explored a number of preschools for our son, but I think we decided on the right place when we sent him to Spring Hollow.
