Many didn't take us seriously because we were using a VA loan, which made no sense as we were pre-approved, had a down payment ready, and were eager to buy. We hired Kristie, owner of Reveal Interior Design, who came highly recommended. It turned out to be the best decision we made. On Reveal's website they offer several different services from consults to full home remodels. Because we were out of state for a few months while we designed and furnished the interior of our home we worked remotely with Kristie and her team so they could get a feel for our styles, color palette and what we liked and disliked. We shared Pinterest boards, emails, and websites. Eventually we met in person where they presented us with at least two design style choices of colors, materials, furniture, and artwork for each room we were renovating. Once selected they gave us full color renditions which looked amazingly lifelike. This was especially helpful in visualizing everything and making any necessary changes. In the end they were able to meld the different design styles almost every couple possess into a home which is show quality but at the same time is warm, welcoming, with a lived-in vibe. Kristie not only consulted with us on the interior, but also the outdoor living spaces, and exterior paint color. In total, Kristie designed and furnished our kitchen, wet bar, great room, theater room, office, loft, 5 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, spa, casita, and gym. SCAM ARTIST. STAY AWAY. ------ Reached out to me indicating she was a Pottery Barn designer & could give me discounts + trade discounts and anything beyond interior design (I was doing a renovation and wanting help selecting tiles and fixtures), she could cover through this company. Contract was agreed in Sept (by the way, she sent me 2 of the exact same contract - 1 for $6000 and 1 for $30,000 and said the $6k one was a mistake but she would honor it). Paid her half, and she had an entire scope of work including Budgeting, Renderings, Vision Boards, etc. Since September: Late for EVERY.SINGLE.MEETING, Came up with ZERO ideas (only agreed to my selections), and oh my goodness - I've never heard of SO MANY EXCUSES in my life!!! Every time, she's lost something, someone or whatever - she must have an excuse rolodex, it was ridiculous. Because of her unprofessionalism, I had to apologize to my other contractors on her behalf...how embarrassing! Come MARCH...she hadn't delivered ONE SINGLE THING from her scope of work. No drawings, layouts, or even color ideas. When I asked her to cancel the contract, she called me rude (for what? stating FACTS and OBSERVATIONS of everything she DID NOT DO? ok.). So - recall that the basis for our contract was that she was a Pottery Barn designer...well because of her unprofessionalism (she even somehow "lost" her signed contract which she forgot" to email me)..I contacted Pottery Barn to inform them of this scam artist. Well, good thing I did, because, as it so happens, she was only employed by them from AUGUST - OCTOBER. IT WAS MARCH and SHE DID NOT INFORM ME. How was I ever going to get those discounts? When was she going to inform me that she was no longer working there? CLEARLY NEVER. And the worst part? She kept delaying and delaying everything because the completion date was supposed to be end of June and SHE DID NOT DELIVER ONE SINGLE THING FROM HER SCOPE OF WORK. And now, it's April, I have a new designer but guess what...ordering furniture NOW....will result in late August to early September. So I WILL ESSENTIALLY BE FINISHED MY RENOVATION WITH NO FURNITURE BECAUSE OF THIS WOMAN. STAY AWAY.

One of the things I like most was that I (the customer) would pay directly for the materials - not all contractors and interior designers work that way (I assume they mark up the materials). This option eliminates any possibility of supplier not getting paid - one less thing to worry about. Elizabeth has a few contractors she worked with over the year and she had them come and bid the work, which ended up saving me expenses. Contractors (flooring, slab, plumbing, glass) did excellent work. I had some very specific things in mind, and Elizabeth helped me refine them and also presented some new ideas. She acted as my general contractor as much as she did as an interior designer (there was not general contractor hired for the job).
